There is an ongoing attack that will cause your daemon to assert (and thus close)

It seems to prevent successful downloading of the proving key, as well, somehow.

Hello, Im new to Komodo , just found it a couple days ago, and excited about it. But I dont know anything about network attacks. Is this something to worry about?

I see that Komodo price has already dropped like 22% since I bought in. Is that drop related to the attack?

Is Komodo going to drop a lot more once network comes back up?

Dont suppose you're going to say "ya dude! ITS CRASHING!!! GET OUT asap, if you can!! Sell sell sell!" But Ile take whatever response I can get, I guess. Shits got me sketched out. Hopefully for no good reason. Thanks! Brad

The blockchain was not under attack, it is similar to a DOS attack at the network level. Still not sure exactly how a killer packet was created, but a fix for the crashing is already updated in github. I estimate about 10% of nodes were affected.

If you are having crashes, just update and it should be fine. We are still testing the hotfix version, but the change was very small so it should be fine.

No funds were at risk, just annoyance of having to restart a node, but if you are in the process of syncing, it would likely make it much more difficult to do so as if it is crashed it wont sync.

kmd network under attack??

somebody wants kmd under $1 but they are failing...

assholes....
In an expanding market like the one we are in, you hold. Whatever pull  back comes it will snap back and then some. I actually wanted more at this price so it works for me.  I'm tempted to load up double here and sell that half off for profit when we hit 2-3 bucks.

Exactly haha, in Basilisk mode tx would not process, so I tried starting a full node to much chagrin.
What's up with not being able to download the proving key, though?  I left it going overnight...

How long should the agama/iguana wallet take to load?

Running windows 10, installed the wallet an hour or so ago and I still see the starting iguana daemon window.

For those who haven't looked back and have questions about the Bittrex "network under attack" warning, please read below.

-----
Message by jl777:

We have detected some sort of remote packet that triggered an assert (which stops komodod).

It could just be some sporadic thing, but it is possible it is a deliberate action. The effect is that your node might be stopped and you have to start it again. Annoying, but since it might be part of a two part attack, we took the precaution to alert bittrex.

We are working on a fix and this doesnt affect trading, just deposits and withdraws.

So, if you are hit with this, then just restart komodo. I estimate about 10% of nodes are affected. And 90% of those are able to just resume. If restarting komodo doesnt work, try loading it in gdb with a breakpoint at main, and then continue. This works around the assert. If that doesnt work, then you will have to wait for an update.

A proposed fix is in the beta branch now, but it could well require more changes as we just started testing it.

Money is whatever the majority, or a group of people believe it is. If it spends, it's "real" money. At some point in history, almost everything was used as "money"

Although some people have issues with Agama, it's most likely related. Try again tomorrow...

How profitable are the notary nodes at current prices?

How long until new notary node elections?

I think all nodes are self-sufficient now.    Elections are in Jan 2018

I will be a candidate in the next election,
