June 'guess the price' Winner

The closes guess was made by ERossin!

The final closing price: 1.69 USD
The guess: 1.639 USD

Congratulations!

He got a multiplier of 2,15x, which means the final prize sum is 215 KMD

- - -

It looks like the crowd's wisdom was pretty accurate again. That's pretty impressive considering that people were making these calls when the KMD price was around 0.55 USD in the begining of the month.

Average guess price: 1.80 USD
Median guess price: 1.5 USD

In the process of testing BTC in barterDEX, I realized that I need to handle mempools of 100,000+ transactions. This is 100x more than any other coin and due to the current blocksize limit.

And it created some really slow performance as I assumed no more than a few thousand mempool entries that any normal blockchain would have. So, I had to change the blockchain queries to use a caching layer and a background filling of the cache with blocks and mempool as they come in.

That took a bit more time than I had originally planned, and with other distractions, I was delayed to code it until now.

Once I get this iteration debugged, it will have very good performance for all non-BTC coins and for BTC should have acceptable performance (not much way to make 100,000 tx mempool efficient)

We did get the first bug bounty awarded for the bid volume being miscalculated.

I assume James will just ignore this question, but it never hurts to ask. I can see a lot of people being hacked here on the forum, someone always complains of the BTC stolen.

There is so much virtual currency under your control that highest security standards for you are obviously a must. I have never seeing you talking about your personal setup. Can you share with us how were you able to stay safe all these years. What I mean is you probably using Linux (which of those). You probably have wifi router setup (any special configuration with something enabled or disabled?). VPN? Antiviruses? Any advice would be appreciated.

All your security stands and falls with you. Humans are the weakest part in every security chain. The smarter and more experienced a person is the harder is to hack him. Apart from that there are the same rules as ever:

1. Think before you click (or type).
2. Keep all (!) your systems up-to-date.
3. Install a good antivirus software on the machines you are working with (But it will only sort out 90% of all attacks).
4. Be skeptical about everything and everybody if you can't see the real person (see tip #1).
5. Encrypt everything.
6. Use unique passwords for every website or service which are strong enough (16-32 chars long, letters, symbols and numbers)
7. Backup your most important data frequently and keep the backups offsite (but don't forget #5).
8. Keep a low profile on the internet hoping that no bad guys will spot you.

And if you deal with money or other sensitive information there are a few special recommendations:
- Use multifactor authentification where ever it's possible.
- Use a cold storage which is also placed offsite (bank deposit box, for example)

---
Edit: Added one more tip.

New caching code is debugged now and we almost have a critical mass of barterDEX API testers to do some live trading tests.

There is a 100 KMD bounty for the first 10 that can follow the README and get barterDEX command line api up and running.

Why would anyone reveal their security setup? On a public forum no less.  Your concerns are noted,  trust that supernets core of developers has a security first mindset and James is not foolish enough to leave large amounts of crypto lying around without more than ample protection.

My estimate was too far off . But it a nice idea for komodo token owners to participate and from the dev's perspective of marketing further their awesome product. Blueprint has been drawn and I would say it is for the long term.

Wow. it's very great and That was so lucky for me. Thank you for your campaign.
I did not think I would be a winner in this campaign . I also bought some KMD coins 4 weeks ago and I got a good profit from this investment .
Now it's time to buy more KMD coins for a while and I expect it will hit 5$ in next 3 months and This is a good chance to buy and hold it for a while.
