This web no info at the moment!

We need to go through the list on the network state page one by one and see which graphs/ info we have, and what we don't have. Or someone could just eyeball the page and say which ones we don't have

Then figure out what is needed to get the remaining info.

Boolberry Network Address December 21, 2016

Seed nodes

We have been implementing a solution to make it easier for Boolberry users to connect to other Boolberry users, to sync with the blockchain better.

The solution in Monero is pretty distributed and we are copying that model. Monero has several domain names registered, those domain names have subdomains, and those subdomains have A names which contain the IP addresses of several seed nodes. This leverages the DNS propagation system to have this data in a distributed manner, all to sync up with the distributed blockchain. It uses hardcoded seed nodes as a backup in case none of those are connectable.

Boolberry has two hardcoded seed nodes, and both of them are down sometimes, making it cumbersome if not seemingly impossible to use.

The Monero client pulls the DNS stored seed nodes, appends the monero port number to the IP addresses and grabs blockchain hosting peers this way.

In our efforts, I and Javajared have added subdomains to our own websites and this will be added to the Boolberry code. The seed nodes we are currently using are Boolberry pools that have decent uptime.

You can look at the A names on this website http://viewdns.info for the following domain names

http://xbr.seeds.blockology.org

http://boolberryseed.javajared.com

If you would like a website you own/control to be a part of the seed node redundancy, contact me on how to set it up! And feel free to make pull requests in the future. Also, host a seed node in a datacenter Smiley

Graphics and Marketing

There are several people independently working on updated graphics for boolberry, outside of the Blockchain Development Company. We all have the same vision in mind and have been in contact, this can make the GUI look very polished and unique. Coinopoly has been spearheading collaboration on this front.

The old Boolberry GUI, as well as the new Monero GUI both use the QT framework, so we have a lot of source material to leverage for the graphical updates.

No ETAs just yet on these features or the other big ticket items, thank you for the patience so far and stay tuned for the next bi-weekly!

Thanks for the update 1blockologist

Has a decision been made about whether to quickly implement basic db support in BBR using level_db, or to migrate to LMDB or transactional db?

Is the DB work that is being done just going to store a list of blocks, or will it include all the other memory stuff that makes up a node (transactions, block/output indexes, etc.)?

What is the current node rewards system for hosting seed node with/without mining?

Thanks for your contributions!

we are going to implement monero's solution which is LMBD.

hosting a seed node is just running the client and having reliable uptime. if you mine then the network will pay you from the block reward. adding a seed node IP address to your existing domain name is free.

so for now javajared and I just put in IP addresses of existing boolberry mining pools, as they are already vested in having high uptime, if you need inspiration

Could someone tell me what command I used to add seed nodes please?

I've just built boolbd on Ubuntu 16.04 from the Rune github repository, but it won't sync.

I have a list of working nodes from an old boolberry client that still syncs, but I don't know how to configure those seeds in the newly built boolbd.

Code:

This is likely occurring because the daemon only has two seed nodes to connect to by default. If these nodes are not online then your node doesn't know who to connect to the first time you run the daemon. Therefore a long term solution to this will be to change the hard-coded seed nodes in the code repository.

A short term solution for you and others would be to specify a seed node manually. This can be done by doing the following:

boolbd --seed-node 5.9.44.154:10101

This command tells your daemon to treat the bbr.mbkpool.info node as a seed node. As a result, your node will connect to it and download its list of active peers. I got this to overcome the error on my end so I hope it works for others as well.

This seems like something that could easily be coded into javajareds most recent daemon builds. How are they coming along?

boolbd --seed-node 5.9.44.154:10101

Perfect! Thanks dude.

I hadn't seen the "--seed-node" option when I used "boolbd --help"

I had built boolbd from the RUNE edition source. Could I have edited a file in the source before building the daemon in order to add(/hard code) this node?

Boolberry ended as 15th best "Crypto investment"  (in "" because only 46 Coins was included.) in 2016. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1732516.0

Since i monitor tiny bit Boolberry i wonder if this was deserved by developers. I am sure 2017 result will be solely dependant on developers. If they wil nto show significant progress fast I am afraid, Boolberry will follow DNote path and be delisted from Poloniex. That will be huge nightmare. Please be really careful.

Poloniex does have the primary liquidity but in that scenario you have to remember that in early 2014 Cryptsy was the dominant alt-coin exchange. It would be a mistake to count on Poloniex for liquidity just because the last two years have been good.

But yes, indeed, a lot of people have coins parked on Poloniex and can make quick reactions because of this.

right now Boolberry being on Poloniex is huge advantage. Many coins cant get there. And would do anything to get there. It is way easier to stay on Poloniex then to get listed on Poloniex. a huge difference.  2 years ago Poloniex listed many coins, since was growing. Now is fully grown and is picky who gets in. Dont take being on Poloniex as sure thing and dont think it dont matter if Booolberry gets delisted, since it matters a lot.

Poloniex does have decent liquidity but in that scenario you have to remember that in early 2014 Cryptsy was the dominant alt-coin exchange. It would be a mistake to count on Poloniex for liquidity just because the last two years have been good.

right now Boolberry being on Poloniex is huge advantage. Many coins cant get there. And would do anything to get there.

you're right, even AEON rises and falls on extremely low volume, I would say due to being on small exchanges.

Code:
2016-Dec-28 12:17:50.454445 [P2P0]Connecting to 1.24.247.119:10101(white=1, last_seen: d501.h14.m7.s36)...
2016-Dec-28 12:17:50.454663 [P2P1]Tx <95f59a7fb0395095ecc1ccd937d50281c9cc27211c605a48f17536a9540d032d> removed from tx pool due to outdated, age: 1188145
2016-Dec-28 12:17:55.455421 [P2P0]Connect failed to 1.24.247.119:10101

Peerlist white:

Peerlist gray:

2016-Dec-28 12:29:53.601706
Connections:
Remote Host                  Peer id             Recv/Sent (idle, sec)     State                    Livetime(seconds)

Thanks folks.
I had same problem

We are implementing a more robust solution than hardcoded IP addresses

Aeon was on Poloniex and has since been de-listed, I can't see it being brought back anytime soon. Boolberry will soon be the only other CN coin on Poloniex with Monero. I'm expecting big things for Boolberry in 2017 for numerous reasons, watch this space.... BUY LOW
