Just look at where it is now. You could reminisce way back it was just $300+ then try to view it again and you will how cool to have even just 1 bitcoin in your wallet.

Nobody had believed in 2012 that Bitcoin will go over $50 EVER. And one year later it didn't go up to $50.. It went up to $1200! Huge increase in such a short time. Imagine having 100 Bitcoins in 2012 (1BTC was $10) and one year later the $1k you spent suddenly turns into $120000. This was caused by the halving which took place only once ever since Bitcoin has been released. The second halving took place a few months ago.. Will we see the same effect taking place soon??

Okay, guys, don't be too greedy or euphoric. After the feast always comes the fast. If anything, a major correction may start well after New Year or even before it. If you have serious profits don't forget to fix at least a part of them. This exuberant rise may not last long, and we may just have the fall awaiting us right behind the corner. Don't let yourself get tricked into the hysteria of wild and violent buying as it happened in late 2013.

Bitcoin really isn't a good investment for now the price for me is too high and it may drop down sooner or later and that should be the best time for us to invest in bitcoin just not now, Same things happens to 2015 also happens this year, I am currently thinkng that btc price would go down on march or april

Even at $800 bitcoin is still a great investment. I remember seeing under $200 about 2 years ago which doesn't even seem that long ago. Don't go crazy but invest what you can afford to. The upside potential of bitcoin is still meteoric.

I don't think we will see the same effect since that was a speculative bubble, but there is no doubt in my mind the halving that took place had an effect on prices, bitcoin is looking very solid right now so an even higher price for the next year must be possible especially if we take into account the political landscape.

There is no guarantee that something like this won't happen in the future, or something even more dangerous and detrimental. Whatever the circumstances, we should always remain realists.

and so far a rise has a bigger force, and with the addition of adoption that is growing day by day there is no reason for price to go down.

and all those little incidents that you mentioned are bumps on the road. something like bitfinex was mostly fear coupled with manipulation that lead to a temporary drop which also price recovered fast enough. and will do in the future possible cases.

Actually, I am quite with you on that. The Bitfinex incident was a good opportunity to buy cheap bitcoins, and likely the only such opportunity for well over a year now. But still we shouldn't forget about the Mt. Gox fiasco, and what havoc it caused. I'm not going to say that something like that is going to happen, history doesn't work this way. I'm talking more about the scale of that event and the consequences that it led to, which could be repeated.

Mt. Gox was way bigger than any exchange at the moment so while something similar will happen again it will never big as it was that terrible event in the bitcoin history.

true, i do not think that we will see something with a bigger negative impact then Mt.Gox unless there is something wrong with the Bitcoin code itself. But i also worry about all the side chains, because this has the potential to make a huge impact if it is fucked up.

Bitcoin can be banned by the governments if they choose to do it, enforcing that ban, however is another story, and about bitcoin being controlled, I don't think a direct control is possible, but they could try to indirectly control bitcoin trough price manipulation and using propaganda against bitcoin.
