Guys, can somebody point me to an article to read about staking of ember?
hold some coins in online wallet = staking.
"In a nutshell, the network works like a distributed timestamp server, stamping the first transaction to spend a coin. It takes advantage of the nature of information being easy to spread but hard to stifle." -- Satoshi

Am sorry bud, you feel disheartened, Am  a newbie as well to crypto world , but a veteran in traditional investing.
I have been with ember for past 6 weeks , have around 150 mil with the initial investment , never diluted .

Couple of things i felt ,

Firstly ember is come back story , Initially i too thought things will be smooth sailing , after getting into and understanding more and seeing the challenges faced by dev , as an investor at this time , i came to an understanding where i have to comfort myself with the unknows of current bug fix and any future .

Saying that , as long the dev and team and part of the community is supporting it . I see ember has good chances of v good recovery even after nov 1.

The community in general at this point is more concentrated to see future roadmap and its success coming along ,
couple of things will play out v well for ember , hardfork ,remote staking , long term MN ..

Hopefully everything will work out well for ember team and its community .

I want to report my experience here with Embercoin. Not trying to bash, but I have had a very frustrating time, and I am wondering if I am not the only one.

- 09/02/17 - I originally bought 5,080,000 Ember @ 4 Satoshi - started staking.

- 09/08/17 - Received my first stake reward of 6,840,000 - WOO! The price was like 7 Satoshi. Feeling great! Feeling like "I can't lose!" - Tipped JT42 the support guy from Discord 100K ember because he helped me a lot!

- 09/09/17 - I took that stake reward, and my friend bought 4million ember, and we combined it all together into 1 big stake of 15.8 million - Started Staking again. I was told anything under 20 million inputs, should be safe, as the 38.81m bug had JUST been discovered. So I thought 15.8M, I'm good! Wrong.

- 09/14/17 - Still no reward. Under the impression I'd receive the reward a lot faster with nearly 16m coins compared to 5m. I go to discord. I'm told I have hit the 38.81 bug, and to break my stakes back down into 2 or 3 inputs of about 7m each. So I do that. And wait patiently.

- 09/20/17 - Still no reward. 7x6 = 42... My inputs were overweight, Again. I sell off 5.9m coins at this point to recover most of my investment as the price is now 3 or 4 Sats. I go back into the discord. I express my frustrations to the devs. I was belittled and listed as a "Silly Fudder" for pointing out a major flaw that is causing people to mass sell and which was a big reason - I felt - the price was free falling From 10 sats all the way down to nearly 1 Sat as of today. I eventually get banned because I get heated in the conversation and say some probably not so nice things - lol. I was frustrated!

- 09/20/17 - I decide to break up my existing coins into 1 mil inputs. Been staking that ever since, and still no reward on any, but I do expect the rewards to take longer with 1m inputs.... Hopefully not 38.81 days! Lol.

All in all, I was extremely excited about this project, and it has turned into complete and utter frustration and lack of confidence in the developers. The way they handled the discord situation, was pathetic. They crumbled and fell back on their pathetic "Silly-Fudders" moniker, and eventually just banned me from the discord all together.

I'm not coming here to bash this coin. I believe, if they fix the bug, this could and would be a very solid project. But I am also of the belief that the "bug" was by design. They will claim it was existing from the previous dev, which is true, but they could very easily have seen that bug in place, and felt it would be a good way to reduce the ridiculous inflation 7200% APR would cause. I doubt it will be fixed before November 1st. I could be wrong though!

Has anyone else had any similar experiences?

- 09/28/2017 - Received a stake reward of 1,854,171 Ember Smiley

How many coins are you staking? If you stake too many it can go overweight and you will get your reward VERY late and for far less than you expect.

If you are staking very few coins, it can take many weeks to get the reward.

Setup port forwarding on your router for UPD/TCP port 10024 to the IP of the PC with the wallet - this is the port the wallet uses for active connections. I have 70 active connections at any one time, which I believe helps. Even though they say it doesnt Smiley

After a PC crash my Ember wallet has started back up and says it is out of sync, though it was fully sunc before the crash. I’ve left it running for several days now, but it still says out of sync. However, it has 5 connections and says it is staking. Can it be staking if it is reporting unsyncronised? Should I do something to fix it?

Maybe this will be like 1337 coin, high staking but down to 1 Sat.  You can still profit some from selling stakes as Doge and Litecoin.
Why isn't the dev burning the coins?

good evening. I would like to know why ... despite my coins from yesterday on my wallet I still do not see the reward (stake) on the wallet. Should it be the 3% right day? I scraped the wallet and in% appdata% I put all the bootstrap files. I put the pictures on you. Did I do something wrong? or if I did well tell me when I could see the first stake coins

First 2%, in theory. Second, this percentage is divided into steaks, and all the coins which were released only. People have several hundred million coins. So it is unlikely that you will get a piece :-(

I just want to do a quick update about things that are posted in the discord channel.

EMBERCOIN STAKING BUG

http://www.embercoin.org/embercoin-staking-bug-information-update/

If you go over 38.81 million weight per coin input, the bug kicks in due to a fault in the code where a large enough integer wasn't used.  This causes your stake to appear as negative.  So you won't get a stake reward above 38.81 because now your stake is -38.81 and counting upwards until you reach 38.81 * 2 = 77.62.  Then your stake will be 0 again and rising at that point you can get a stake reward again, but it will be lower than the 7200% expected becaues of that wrapping around to a negative number thing.

The ability to get rewards wraps around every 38.81 million in stake weight.  38.81 * 2 = 77.62. Between 38.81 weight and 77.62, you wouldn't be able to stake. 38.81 * 3 = 116.43.  Between 77.62 and 116.43 you would be able to stake again, but with lower rewards.  It continues like that.

stake weight = number of coins
stake weight (coin age) = number of coins * days staking
stake weight (coin age) is used to determine when you get a stake reward through a random number calculation
when stake weight (coin age) gets higher than 38.81 million, that's when the bug happens.   You still have your original amount of coins, it's just the weight got too high for the integer dealing with rewards.
So you send those coins to yourself (your wallet address) to reset the process

I took this reward as an example: http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorer/EMB/block.php?height=141127
So that stake input is 8,392,401.  Figure out how long it takes to get to 38.81 mil weight. Divide one into the other for 4.62 days, which means in another 4.62 days the coin becomes available to stake again after the weight goes positive.  So at 9.24 days the stake timer starts: total age is 11.08.  11.08 - 9.24 is 1.84 days of new staking.  1.84 days of staking at 7200% with 8,392,401 coins is about 3 million coins.  Oh hey look, minted is 3,026,756.  The math works.

The fix is closer. 3 devs are working on this around the clock. They're building, testing, fixing, building, testing, fixing. This seems to be the process from what we can see.  And of course they need to test the stakes are working so this takes time. Hence the testing and debugging is a slower process than normal (correct me if I'm wrong Devs).

We have arranged a meeting on Tuesday with all the members of the core team who are able to attend (apart from the devs who are working on the fix). This will be the first time we are chatting as one unit (marketing, web and all other departments). The team has grown and there are a lot of new members involved so now we need to do this to make sure we're all on the same page. We plan to do regular weekly meetings. In this way we'll be achieving better communication both internally and externally.

These two post were written originally by antonissiargkas one of the admins in the discord portal.

To those having a small amount of coins (less than 2 or 3 million) and you are not receiving the stake, you can try https://coinsmarkets.com/stake.php which is a staking site that when you transfer coins there, they are added in a staking pool and you take stake every day according to your weight.

If you want more information and help with your wallet you can visit https://discordapp.com/invite/UnYqVNJ
