Buying Zcash now would be a financial desaster, the inflation rate will sharply increase in December.

I expect that the 0.2btc price is not sustainable. There are 7200 ZEC mined per day with a rate of 0.2 that would be 1440btc btc per day or at the current btc price (650$) ~ 936k USD inflation per day for ZCASH.

Also see the emission curve. At the end of 2020 only 50% of zecs will be mined so expect heavy down pressure after the first hype is over but the inflation keeps putting pressure on the hyped price.

My guess is 15-20$ for a fair value per zec but expecting a wild ride because of the low supply at the start.

That could be right. Maybe it is better to wait until the initial bubble to burst before invest in the ZCash.

I somehow missed this, but it seems zcash will have a slow mining start: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=753252.msg16682583#msg16682583

If so, this is going to be even worse. I thought 7200 coins a day was bad. This is a disaster. The hype and complete lack of supply could drive the price to temporary bitcoin parity. Good opportunity for those able to short at the right time, I might have started too soon at 0.2.

The question is if zcash will make it up to the mainstream medias (what XMR unfort. never did)
Zcash does a lot for Media attention and if a coin will make the 1:1 it will be like a match stick at the gas station. This attention could make a run on that coin and boost it even higher and higher (demand/supply)

This will ofc end in a total disaster (bubble). But who knows if with that big hype will bring more implementations, leading to a higher acceptance and so on (that the bubble will burst is beyond debate) ...i think a long strategie is the way to go at the beginning and just exit with a good profit. To find the proper short timing could be very difficult and end in a blood bath if you don't hit. But this is all strong speculation. If someone will trade this coin he/she have to monitor it permantly (or have a really sophisticated bot -what i still don't have for such high volatility). This will be again a boring time after XMR but is going to be paid out well.

I see one possible scenario unfolding on 28.10. Zcash comes out and oh wonder no big, smart money flowing in because only insane people would go in such a massive hype with following massive inflation. Then we will hear the typical Trolloniex speech: "Ooh Zcash is a dissappointment, XMR is the real one!" Then again XMR hype till Zcash inflation/demand level each other out and a kind of liquidity is established over months to come.

Yep. The mining schedule is incredibly hard to judge, as far as fair-value is concerned. I made a post earlier about waiting around 24hours before shorting it. On reflection, the perceived initial value could last days, before sense returns. Maybe the parity value is a very conscious ceiling, if it ever did reach there.

The bitcoin price is rising at the moment. But the price rise will not rise forever. The most will be $1000 in December.

0.390 BTC for 1 ZEC, sounds like an offer one can`t refuse.  Grin
I gonna sell my house and car for this, seems a pretty realistic, fair and not manipulated price, it can only go up from here.

As predicted, zcash's marketing does the job. 0.420 btc now. Moreover the buy power behind zcash will boost that coin. I think they'll buy the coin by themselves just to hype the coin more in the media. Beside the published investors i'm pretty sure there are plenty silent investors with a lot of money. Yes, that is going to be a big big scam in the end. But it will make some people very very rich.
Bad for them, that BTC is in rally mode atm. Otherwise they could scam more ppl.
I would really enjoy to figure out how much these investors like Roger Ver had to pay at this company to become part of it. And i would enjoy it much more if this investment will fail and zcash will crash from the beginning and they will never see their pump money again. (What I doubt from my experience) I hate it when ppl get scamed so obviously. Its ok when ppl. lose money due to bad trading skills, but this is just a trap for the average joe.

Question is, where/when do we think they will be hedging some of their position/s.

I very much doubt it's going to be a scam. The devs behind it are legit and very public. The only problem is that the market will realise that it's not as valuable as the hype established. So overvalued/hyped, yes, but scam, no.

Zcash Ceremony

The public parameters (zk-SNARK proving and verifying keys) for Zcash’s 1.0 “Sprout” launch were constructed in a ceremony that took place on October 22-23.
The following individuals participated in the ceremony:
Andrew Miller
Peter Van Valkenberg
John Dobbertin
Zooko Wilcox
Derek Hinch
Fabrice Renault
The ceremony used a multi-party computation protocol with the property that the resulting parameters are secure unless all of the participants were dishonest or compromised during the ceremony.

So there has been an Zcash Ceremony.
Everybody now has to trust those 6 guys that they have not cheated during that ceremony, because otherwise they could print and print much more then 23 million ZECs.
We also have to believe that nobody else has manipulated their network before that ceremony...

I would really enjoy to figure out how much these investors like Roger Ver had to pay at this company to become part of it.
$3m was invested in total (1m first round, 2m second) and they'll get 1.65% of total supply.

In other words, with current price, their investment is worth $122m, or 40x return. If Roger Ver invested 100 BTC, it's now worth 4000 BTC.

The founders, with current price, has about $618m.
