ZEC - Total Speed: 356.066 H/s, Total Shares: 151, Rejected: 0, Time: 00:17
ZEC:
GPU0 68.025 H/s, - Club3d 280x royalqueen
GPU1 64.876 H/s, - Club3d 280x royalqueen
GPU2 68.551 H/s, - Club3d 280x royalqueen
GPU3 68.495 H/s, - Club3d 280x royalqueen
GPU4 86.120 H/s - Asus 280x

What was your speed prior? I have no idea if those ELPIDA timings are any good for ZEC.

with claymore 3.1 it was about 45 sols for club 3d and about 50 for the asus.
your modded asus bios gave about 20+ in claymore 3.1 and now about 85 with claymore 4.0

Nice. Good to hear. Best of all power consumption doesnt increase

It seems like the Club 3d Cards also support Hynix...

http://imgur.com/a/TN4Yz

Didn't work with the Asus Hynix Rom... had to switch the bios on the card

The Elpida straps are as follows

1250 Mhz  (- 1250 Mhz)
1375 Mhz  (1251 - 1375 Mhz)
1500 Mhz  (1376 - 1500 Mhz)
1625 Mhz  (1501 - 1625 Mhz)

Try the other straps.

Turns out I had a Gigabyte 7970 with Elpida, running at 1000/1500 was only 70 H/s. I will try 1375 and 1501 and see if the results improve.

If you want to try 1375 you will need to modify file with VBE7 since you can't downclock memory lower then 1500.

I don't have any of those cards so maybe someone else can mod them for you. The only resource I have is that link on overclock.net.

The Asus Hynix won't work since your memory is Elpida and your card manufacture is also different.

Hi! Looking for modded bios for Sapphire 280x Hinyx/Elpida, also for Gigabyte Hinyx/Elpida!

The Gigabyte Hynix is listed on the first post. The 7970 "might" work in your 280x. Mod at your own risk.

i have hynix AFR in my sapphire vaporx and dualx

will this (posted in OP) rom work on my cards?

No they won't work.

What are the power consumption of there GPU ?
thx

Power consumption doesn't change

which 7950 do you have? Im working on mine when i get home from work later today. I can post results and post the rom when im done.

Radeon shappire HD 7950

I did tried to modified the room but i didnt see any improve of speed. If u can tell me ur results and rom would be great. Thank you.

I got 1 of these. Its actually the fastest ZEC GPU I have. Faster than the 280x. It has Hynix MFR memory. No idea how it differs from the 7950 reference but its technically a 8950.

You should EASILY get 85 Sol/s with that GPU. Its actually the only 7950, that runs stable at 1100/1575.

Report your results if it works or boots at least. Make sure you got HYNIX MFR mem.

The Elpida memory seems very bad, I can't get any improvement with my Gigabyte 7970, seems the timings are off OR Hynix is just a better performer. Can't get any more than 70Sol/s with it.

Also if you guys are getting incorrect shares when running at 85SOls or so, its probably the risers. I got a few identical 280x and in one rig, it keeps getting incorrect shares while the rest of the rigs are fine. Exact same card and same bios. The ribbon risers supringly have less issues than USB  risers.

Also one of my GB 7970 runs at 1100/1575 @ 87 Sol/s but its inside the x16 slot. The others won't run at that speed being on a x1 riser.

Found some newer straps that seem to be getting 80 Sol/s on ELPIDA, will look inside the BIOS and see what the changes are. Running at 1000/1500.

EDIT: Here are the straps, seems only one strap is modified the F0 49 02 which is the 1500 Strap (1500-1624). I think i got this strap during ETH mining from Ellvoip (the dude who modded the 480's straps).

I want to try this for my powercolor r9 280x. My card has hynix afr mem (H5GQ2H24AFR). I know nothing about hex editing so I checked your reference link (overclock.net).
There is "Tahiti-HynixMemoryTimingsPatch.zip 92k .zip" .  It does hex editing automatically, right? Saved my bios with gpu-z, than used this patch.
Corrected checksum with VBE7 after that. Now is it ready to flash or is there more to do ?

Of course I take full responsibility and my card has dual bios so it shouldn't be a big problem, I will just switch to second bios and flash it, i won't touch the original one i'm using right now.
Also big thanks for sharing all this info.

Edit : My card has afr mem, not mfr.

I never used that tool, so try it and see if it works. If it does it will make everyones lives easier. However some guy on Overclock said to avoid modding with that tool, no idea why. Problem is that some bios's have more or less straps and that tool only mods certain ones.

There's a good increase in hashrate from 60 to 80. but goes down to 70's. The card is sapphire 7950 OC with boost. at first the card rejected flashing the bios. After a few tweaks it did accept it. Downside is, my previous setting is at 962Mv, this bios is at Mv1090. Will let it run for a while. Thanks @adaseb

Please post bios for elpida 280x. Will try it also.

So I tried some of these out on a rig with 4 Gigabyte 280x Windforce, 3 had Elpida, 1 with Hynix.  This rig was getting cumulatively .266 Mh/s with TheStilt ROM mods from the GPUs.  This rig also has an AMD FX 8350 8 core processor and using nheqminer_v0.3a was also getting about 14 H/s using 6 or the 8 cores. So, .280 total.

After modding each GPU with  Gigabyte 280x and Elpida EDW2032BBBG as appropriate, and with the GIGABYTE 7970 with HYNIX AFR Memory for the other 280x with Hynix (yes, it works) the rig with 925/1375 1094 mV on each GPU the rig from the GPUs got .270 Mh/s.  So not much of an improvement over TheStilt ROMs.

I noticed more CPU usage with these mods as well.  So I shut down the nheqminer for the CPU and reevaluated.  The rig now gets .287 on average.  So it seems that there is no reason to run a separate miner for the CPU, at least for this rig, now.

Those ROMS are basically the Stilt ROMS. Where did you find his old database, it seems offline and nowhere to be found.

Yeah its because the BIOS is probably slightly different, make a backup of your BIOS and just change the memory straps into the file I sent you. Because there seems to be difference of voltages between your GPU and mine. Its not exactly the same.

Tried all roms, none would flash, they all popup "SubsystemID's mismatch", the "Tahiti-HynixMemoryTimingsPatch" also doesn't work on any of my cards.  I am in the process of learning to hex edit these guys but having a hellish time of it.  If anyone can do these I'd be eternally grateful,  I think these will also be useful to whoever else have these cards once they are hacked properly.  These are my power saving roms, I tried to keep the volts to the minimum (except for HD7990) and overclock as necessary in msi afterburner, they just need proper timings hexed in.  Will post back if I have any success on my part.  A short, quick and easy "to the point" tutorial would also be excellent if possible.  Thanks!

So far what I can tell you is that modding ELPIDA does nothing, its crap memory. Speeds are pretty much almost the same as stock. Running some tests at the moment, however with that Gigabyte 7970 Elpida I can't get 80 Sol/s like with its Hynix counterparts.

I modded the bios of Sapphire 280x Vapor-X 3GB Hynix and Sapphire HD7970 3GB Hynix , if someone needs them i can upload them.

The 280x is good on all straps, but the HD7970 is only good on 1300 memory , higher is getting errors in the miner .

280x on 1100\1375 mem is 83-85s , hd7970 on 1100\1300mem is 80s .

Im looking for a modded bios for my Sapphire HD7950 OC 3GB Elpida EDW2032BBBG Smiley
