Ok I feel like a complete noob but I have been having a hard time finding out whether I have AFR or BFR mem chips in it. GPU-Z doesn't tell me the info, ATIWINFLASH doesn't give me that info using the -ai switch. What's the easy way to find out without having to take the cooler off and look at the chips themselves?

Thank you for the BIOS though.

Anything I can do with my two 7990s with hynix mems? One card is XFX reference model and the other is AMD/ATI, alsy Hynix mems. I get around 280 sol/s per core (560 per card), downvolted to 1000 mVolt (stock is 1200) lowered temps by 15-20 c. Core runs at 900 Mhz, mem @ 1500.

That is the right speed.

On the hunt for a couple Tahiti BIOS, any help would be much appreciated! Currently using 15.12 drivers and Claymore v12.4. - HIS 7970 IceQ X2 (Hynix), currently hashing at ~265
- Sapphire 280x Dual-X (Elpida), currently hashing at ~255
Looking for something to flash on that would lower the voltage of these power-hungry cards and maybe squeeze a few extra Sols out (290-310 looks to be the peak they can do, right?) I've tried a few older BIOSes from here: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/0B2XVfIhkHZlfcVR0QzhlQlhJYTA...but none have gotten me as high as others are reporting.

I'm currently running a Sapphire 7970 Dual X (Hynix DDR), with some basic OC (1040/1680) and downvolting to 1030mV I'm getting 295-300 Sol/s with latest Claymore. Is there any sense in modding my bios?
And BTW, a question that is probably not directly related to this topic, but one that is bothering me - I'm running 2 GPU's a GTX1060 (which sits in PCI-E2) and the 7970 in PCI-e 1 x16, I'm also having my i7 4790k. The problem is, whenever I remove the DVI/Hdmi cable from 7970 MSI Afterburner no longer shows current GPU/Memory clocks. I was planning to have this small rig placed in a distant place with no display connected, but so far 7970 doesn't like it. I've tried changing the preferred display adapter in BIOS to internal graphics or to PCIE2 but it has no effect - MSI afterburner and GPU z don't detect it correctly. Could anyone advise?

TY for the link! I've read of that kind of adapter, so that is a common issue with this cards? So far none of my nvidia cards had such behaviour...

These are digital adapters that should be more valuable in the future. The older cards can have analog adaptors for the DVI-I ports, but newer cards don't have them, they have DVI-D ports. So using the HDMI port, which they all have, makes more sense.

Thank you for clarifying the issue. Yeah, the HDMI seems to be more future-proof. I've seen ppl soldering some resistors into the D-sub adapter )

I would be careful with these adapters I bought this exact one and all was good for a few weeks than the card which was using this adapter on burnt out
