Bitcoin has already overcome PayPal but PayPal only has the edge in terms of popularity and so with time I guess everything will be evident for all to see because Bitcoin transfers and transactions presents better alternatives to PayPal.
I don't think that bitcoin has already overcome PayPal. If bitcoin will overcome PayPal then those online stores / shops & merchants aren't going to use PayPal anymore but will completely depend with bitcoin. But as of now, the two has in a very tough competition but I do believe that PayPal will don't have choice when Bitcoin is reigning but to adopt it. You do have a point since bitcoin isn't still recognize by most countries and paypal is being already used for how many years when we are talking about online transactions but when the time comes that bitcoin adoption would spread it will surely defeat paypal for sure.

The stores don't accept bitcoin yet because the price is very unstable. Today it can price 1100$, tomorrow it can price 800$. Paypal is just a payment system operating official currencies of the world, centralized currencies. Bitcoin as decentralized currency doesn't have the confidence of most world's population, but it will change in the future, when the blockchain technology evolutes more.

I think bitcoin is not better or more popular than paypal. you can see the still very large paypal and paypal is still widely used everywhere. I might agree if bitcoin is already greater than WU

Paypal s tought to overcome but I do see lots and lots of store and people using BTC. Look at PTC market, almost every single PTC website has introduced BTC and everyone even remotely related to IT s got a small BTC stash.
Those who re not into IT dont. That s the market, ease of use for BTC. That s the place to grow.

No bitcoin would never overcome paypal .both of them have different roles and it will run side by side. The process of bitcoins is that people buy through paypal but as stated before also that there are too many scammers out there and u need to be careful.

I went for maybe because some fundamental things needs to be in place if that will happen among which is government backing. Currently, bitcoin has already overtake paypal in some countries where paypal has limited provision of its service and because of the enormous control it exhibits. However, in other countries where the government backing might actually come from, paypal is really making waves and that will make it difficult for bitcoin to take over but with this major thing attended to, I am sure bitcoin will take over.

Because of its strong buyer's protection policies. In this online world if you don't have protection for what you buy then very difficult to buy anything from unknown persons. That is main reason bitcoins can't take over PayPal.

I think bitcoin and paypal can compete for the part payment option. bitcoin and also at the same paypal payment option. so I think both are equally competitive.

no, both the technology have different mode of operation and have different advantages and disadvantages so both can't be compared with each other. some user might like bitcoin while some would prefer paypal. And here in my opinion both of them are good to use according to your conditions . Just a matter of thing that if you will make deals from PayPal to PayPal then you will never face any transaction charge . So here PayPal is also a best way to make deals worldwide . But here if you will ask for bitcoin then you can see that , since we can make worldwide payment but few countries already banned it where we can't send bitcoin .

Well, the advantage of paypal that they are enjoying now will be surpass by bitcoin, the development will continue as it continues to get popular. If buyers protection is only the problem, I'm sure third is a third party that can integrate bitcoin in their system so it could be possible. Bitcoin is just a currency or payment system but paypal is a company so they are more comprehensive.

I'm not feeling this will ever occur due to the presence that paypal already has in the digital world and the a great amount of reputation that it has built up through years and years of happy customers using it while being safe online. People like to use PayPal as they know that if something goes wrong or if someone attempts to scam them, they're able to dispute the charge with PayPal and get their money back. I and everyone else here knows that can be easily abused for fraud and such but if used correctly it is a nice service do have.
PayPal is also deeply rooted in EBay, one of the biggest online marketplaces for goods sold online (besides Amazon - US) so the people on there provide a ton of revenue to PayPal and those fellas. Bitcoin will try, but it is going to have to take a lot of converting and tons of more innovation relating to fees and confirmation time speed in order to catch up to them.

1. Bitcoin transactions aren't faster than PayPal transactions. 2. If you send money from your PayPal balance to friends, relatives, etc, then there are no transaction costs involved. 3. PayPal is also seeing its user base grow in a quick fashion. I also believe in Bitcoin and its future potential, but we have to remain realistic and keep focusing on facts rather than just saying something you don't know much about.

Do you think that sometime in the future, Bitcoin might overcome Paypal, as it scales in capacity and userbase over the years? We already have the ability to create our own marketplace with OpenBazaar, that uses Bitcoin as its payment method, so it should be no surprise that the combination of these two may be a fierce competition for both eBay and Paypal. Nevertheless, feel free to vote on the poll above and express your opinion about it, if desired. I personally think it's already over come PayPal especially in terms of functionality and the technology behind it. The only thing that's seemingly lacking is the global awareness/acceptance: on that scale PayPal might have more users at the moment but that's going to change in the near future due to the on-going resounding endorsement of Bitcoin globally.

I don't think that bitcoins is going reach that. In general I see bitcoin move more and more away from being a payment system. I think bitcoin is on the way of becoming a form of investment. The increasing price and fees are a big part of that developement.

Bitcoin may be useful for investment purpose but for online payment purpose still Paypal is best, and I don't think bitcoin will overtake that any time in future as well. Paypal best thing is they are giving protection to buyers money online. That's is a very important thing in today's fraud world so as long as no protection for bitcoin transaction they can't overtake Paypal in the online payment system.
