That is correct. The IOU was not even close to the price at ICO time. By my calculation (including the rewards and redistribution) I had it at around 4.5 cents (at ICO time) - so even at the very low level of about 12 cents I'm pretty well in the green.

I think you are mistaken; there are node rewards in which is similar if not same term to staking or pos.
