To answer your questions about the amount of BOS that is being generated; there are basically three ways in which new BOS is generated, but first we need to know that a block is confirmed approximately every 5 seconds. So roughly 720 blocks are confirmed in an hour, or 17,280 blocks in a day. Now we can start calculating how much BOS will be generated per day.
1. Freezing rewards5,400 BOS are generated every 720 blocks (= 1 hour).
5,400 BOS * 24 hours = 129,600 BOS per day.
Freezing rewards diminish with 5% each 6,311,520 blocks (= 1 year). The rewards end after 372,379,680 blocks (= 59 years).
2. Confirmation rewards18 BOS are generated every block (= 5 seconds).
18 BOS * 720 blocks (= 1 hour) * 24 hours = 311,040 BOS per day.
Confirmation rewards diminish with 6.31% each 6,311,520 blocks (= 1 year). The rewards end after 807,874,560 blocks (= 128 years).
3. Commons budget growth50 BOS are generated every block (= 5 seconds).
50 BOS * 720 blocks (= 1 hour) * 24 hours = 864,000 BOS per day.
Commons budget growth ends after 37,869,120 blocks (= 6 years).
This means that 1,304,640 BOS will be generated on a daily basis during the first year. When the years pass, less and less BOS will be generated because of the diminishing factors and because of generation end dates.
Keep in mind that the biggest part of those generated BOS is locked up in the commons budget. The rest of the generated BOS are divided over all stake holders (= people who freeze at least 10,000 BOS and people who run a node (= freeze at least 40,000 BOS)). More information can be found in
the white paper.
