Very untrue.
Btc network hashrate has been stable and always increasing with time with no dumps in hash power.  Most miners at break even with electric so not much to be gained. Mining is a service and not a reward.

I tried to do it and didn’t experience any problems. As it’s said in The label guide, message and request amount are optional, press request payment and the address is created.
