There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I think the total bid depth on Gox is more surprising than the price.  Why is so much money flowing into Gox?  Not only are coin prices significantly higher on Gox, but it's practically impossible to get money back out.  I really don't get it.

The higher the price ,when one sells the bigger will be his bank roll.

Maybe. But a key difference from last April is that now everyone knows fiat is stuck on Gox. Gotta re-buy bitcoin eventually to get out.

i wonder what happens after 550 on gox.

it could shoot up to 1000 VERY fast, if one whale investor clicks the buy button.

I'd imagine that quite a few who sell on mtgox have intentions to buy back in lower because it's so difficult to withdraw large sums quickly. So they place their bid and wish for a crash.
