Just checked my cold storage and noticed that I've recently received two very tiny amounts on one of my addresses (same address for both). The last transaction to my wallet, apart from these two, happened more than one year ago...

What is this? Anyone noticed it too? Should I be worried?

Thanks.

I had some dust put into my wallet a while back 0.00000001, friggen didn't release i had selected it as part of my wallet maintenance, and the fee to move it was the more than the dust itself!

that would be the only thing to worry about!

Nice brief summary of some btc value propositions ...
https://cointelegraph.com/news/in-the-eye-of-the-beholder-what-gives-bitcoin-its-value-in-2021
Quote
“Bitcoin is rotating this year from the old insight narrative which is, it’s an uncorrelated speculative asset traded by retail traders on off-shore exchanges with leverage that’s kind of cool,” Saylor said in a December 2020 interview with HyperChange. “It’s rotating to a new insight, which is it’s the world’s best long-duration investment-grade safe-haven treasury asset,” he added.

Just over 70k for us Aussies yesterday, and also any Canadian's who is at parity with us. If the trend holds, should be 100k aud by the end of the month.

In fact i'm Mr Nobody for local tax office as i have always been under the radar, and that concerns me. I'll have to explain them that money came from a GPU, and not from drugs.

much of my stack is from gpu mining from 2011-2012. one thing i did is sign the payout addys for the pools i used with my name and what the pool or whatever was, plus the approx gear used. those will have the whole payout history from that pool. thats if you still control those addys of course. i also have receipts from the GPUs and pics of the rigs, screenshots etc.

see if you can find anything like that.

I guess i can do that with the wallets that received payments from BTC-E (mined LTC, traded for BTC).
I still can log to Coinotron webpage and there it shows that i mined 1000 eth in 1 year... (dont make me remember the sale price...)
Hey.. i even mined one or two ETH blocks in solo mode! I can sign using those addresses too.

Yes,  i have a huge stack of electricity bills from my home and the receipts from the GPUs and gear.

But all that proof of ownership could mean nothing.. as they dont understand a thing, there's NO law regarding mining cryptos in Argentina, and after all...they only want their share.

Yes, they dusted one of my addresses too. They used 547 sats deposits and many addresses received the same amount.  When you check the tx in the explorer it says something about "use full power of anonymity" and blah blah.

I checked the "dont spend" in coin control tab in Electrum and forgot about it.

I think the jury is still out on this one. We will know only in time, say a few years - if we even get to know anything at all. The original paper doesn't have an abundance of scientific (virologic) data, true, but even the Bayesian analysis based only on broadly known facts makes me think. Facts such as where the plague started, how many laboratories of that kind China has, how many accidents are known to have happened in that laboratory, how many coronaviruses have adenovirus traces in their genetic makeup etc.

Call me paranoid all you like, I'm keeping my tinfoil hat on.

I partially agree but he says himself it is not geared toward the scientific community and being peer reviewed, it is instead directed to the german public. Therefor it is written in german and not in english, so there is no danger that somebody who might have an actual clue reads it.

... except for the wealthy elite of the future (and of the present too, it seems), having crazy but advanced discussions in the best bitcoin thread in the world, with moles in every country who can pick up interesting stuff and have it translated for their fellows.

Yes, exactly. Same amount on mine too. I guess someone wanted to "mark" our addresses...

I haven't seen a "Don't Spend" option in Trezor. Will check it out. Thanks.

Hey that's where they came from. Saw this when spinning up an btc client with some old keys. They should be empty but got 50 times this nonsense. Now that's clear...

BTC will definitely replace gold I believe but it will be even bigger as it's better and far easier to deal with. Over the last 50 years holding onto gold would have been disappointing and not really increased in value. In fact it has only JUST held onto its value compared to inflation in most western countries and that has only mostly been achieved over the last 10 years, without that an investment in something else such as in property would have been a better bet.

40 years from now a single BTC will be worth millions if not tens of millions. Inflation will make fiat worth far less for sure but not to the extent a BTC is in fact the same value as today, unlike the gold story.

The clue is in the mining. Higher price in gold -> more worthwhile to mine more which people do.
BTC -> mining is going to slow heavily.
Supply and demand.

Just hodl.

Any TA charts out there for Bitcoin will need to be updated to take into account the 33% new money printed in the last year with much more to come this year.

As I mentioned on my Facebook page...if you don't have 33% more wealth this year than last year (as well as earning 33% more income) you lost money.

Can I get an opinion please?

Just out of interest WHEN do you guys think we will breach $100,000? I’m pretty certain it’ll be this year but just interested to see when you guys think it’ll happen?

April, May, June?

Later in the year?

Thanks.

Mildly OT: Sometimes even fiat has transactions that can't be reversed:

https://www.theregister.com/2021/02/19/citibank_money_mistake/

500m is peanuts of course for Citi (to paraphrase Joe Ackermann).

Something's up with that address... I tried to send 100 BTC there several times, but it just doesn't get through.
