Surely the fun of winding people up after all these months and thousands of posts must be wearing thin. What's the exit strategy?

Excellent question.  Cool

Your join date is 2011.
You must have made a lot of money out of BTC.

Bet this place was better without the trolls.

this forum always has been a troll fest.

When the prices are rising we have bulltrolls saying that bitcoin will reach 10M by next year and tracing exponential growth graphics.

When prices are in downtrend we have Lamb Chop and his ponies.

Yup. The hypocrisy of people complaining about bear trolls when those same people were calling for 100k per bitcoin back during the last major run-up gets pretty old after a while.

So spending time on a BITCOIN forum talking about how great it is is the same as spending time on a BITCOIN forum talking about how crap it is and how stupid bitcoiners are?

Don't get me wrong. I don't need an echo chamber in here, but I tend to distinguish between trolls and enthusiasts.

Oh, Lamby Lamby Chop Chop. You're a funny man. But the problem is you're too good and you just can't stop yourself showing it.

Beating out the kids with pennies can't what its about (except of course to protect them and their pocket money, thanks btw). So why do you it? You're not a dull man bitterly left behind (hi, Stolfi); you're not a funster talking his book (hi, fonzie); you're not a 50 center (if you are, pm me I'll give you a dorrar-a-time job).

Those with money are likely to have read enough books, seen enough films and dealt with enough dickheads to recognise that someone with your breadth of cultural references and immaculate put-downs (there, I've said it) cannot possibly not see the "bulltard" future in front of us. The fact that you put so much time on the clock surely re-inforces that. And if the money is here at all, it certainly won't sell because of your thoughtful advice.

Surely the fun of winding people up after all these months and thousands of posts must be wearing thin. What's the exit strategy?

By the way, whether you are a rocket scientist, a professor or a redneck you should be able to tell that the "bulltard future" you mentioned is a delusional fantasy.

Hello, I am here from the future to tell you about the stabilization of the Bitcoin price.

You see, over the past 15 months we had the enormous pump followed buy the slow 14 month bear market.  Markets are price discovery mechanisms, and after overshooting first to the upside, and then to the downside, things have finally stabilized more and more.   Down to 150, up to 310, down to 210, up to 250, and so on, with smaller dumps and smaller pumps as the price discovery mechanism did its work.

Eventually we settled down at exactly $231.84.  You see, bitcoin has been exactly $231.84 for many months now.  The people who thought it would stabilize were right!

This thread gets pretty boring a lot of the time, with no real posts happening for days on end.
We still get those chart buddy posts (we have since started referring to him as 'spambuddy' or 'bumpbuddy' since he keeps the thread bumped).  It is hilarious to see the enormous buy wall and sell wall 1 cent above and below the price, and then nothing else.  There are several million coins worth of sell wall and buy wall across the exchanges, at 231.85 and 231.83.  All of the trades go through in the no mans land between them at 231.84.

Every once in a while, some idiot will buy up at 231.85.  We will all make fun of him for overpaying.  The permabulls will return and proclaim that it is finally happening, and the thread fills with trains and rockets for the 1 cent rise.  And sometimes someone will panic sell down at $231.83!  And then people think Bitcoin is about to die, and there are bears and crashed trains and explosions filling up the thread.   The bollinger bands look pretty funny whenever that happens!

But the smart ones on the thread keep a level head and understand that the true value of a Bitcoin is $231.84, and everything will return to normal soon.

Most of the time this thread it is just dead.  Some of us actually use Bitcoin as a currency now, because it is so stable.  Coinbase and Bitpay are pretty much the new Paypal, but only for the cooler, trendy people who are more tech savvy.  All of the idiots long since gave up on their dreams of getting rich quick, since Bitcoin doesn't move anymore, which makes the board a lot nicer.  People talk about technical stuff and cryptography again instead of price.

Enjoy the remaining weeks of price movement before the great stabilization!  Nowadays, new people wonder what it was like to be an early adopter of Bitcoin, back when the price went up and down!

Price can't go lower for now because it has to be forced to exit the current pennant. Breaking down now would be premature there is no momentum for that. Next move (prolly a big dump) in about 4-5 days.

You're welcome.

I think you misread my post, so allow me to clarify for you: I did not say "people who talk about how great bitcoin is." I said "those same people were calling for 100k per bitcoin."

Can you see the difference between "I love bitcoin, bitcoin is great" and "OMFG BUY BUY BUY BITCOIN TO 100k! WHAT RETARD IS SELLING RIGHT NOW WE'RE AT 700 AND GOING UP UP UP!"

If you say nothing but the former, then sure, get pissed when someone responds with "bitcoin fucking sucks you stupid asshole go die in a fire." But if you spammed the latter during the huge rise -- which have always historically preceded big drops -- you can't be mad when someone goes "DOWN DOWN DOWN BITCOIN TO 10!" in the middle of a plummet. Well, you can, but you'd be an enormous hypocrite.

Think about it: both sides know they're full of shit and cannot even come close to guaranteeing their assertions, but they will speak as if their opinion is absolutely infallible and inevitable. Ultimately, I think that is okay. IMO it's fine to bullshit. I mean, if you shorted, for example, you obviously think price is going down, so all you're doing by calling for $10 bitcoins is being hyperbolic (nobody can reasonably expect $10 bitcoins in the next month or two, just like nobody could reasonable expect 100k coins within a couple of months when we are at 900).

Hyperbole doesn't annoy me, but hypocrisy does -- in this case, bullshitting, then getting mad when someone bullshits from the opposite side.

Not to say that there are no bear trolls -- I imagine a lot of them are prodding with sticks to gauge sentiment rather than straight-up getting paid -- but yeah no doubt there definitely are. But if you truly believe in bitcoin, and still strongly believe it's going to skyrocket, you would be patient and wait for that to happen so you can laugh in their faces about it. The fact that people respond so caustically to the trolls -- whereas during the bull market they were laughed off -- tells you something about the changing sentiment and lingering doubt, which could mean there is still a ways to go as that doubt turns into despair when those final bulls turn bear.

Greece is a basket case. It's not all that complicated to understand if you have a solid grounding in economics and human nature. Tsipras and Varoufakis are lefties elected to erase the consequences of a country spending far more than they earned for a prolonged time period. They face an impossible task and they know it, so they are busy blaming others for their obvious impending failure to do what they promised to do. Breaking promises seems to be the Greek national pastime. No sane person would want to negotiate with these bad faith actors even if they weren't deluded socialists.

Greece will get kicked out of the EU. The EU is going to crumble because Greece is far from the only country in such economic dire straits. They are merely the first to default. These sovereign defaults will either take down many large European banks or usher in an era of massive currency devaluation. As nation after nation in the EU goes back to their own national currencies, Germany will find itself in a position of having nobody to sell it's goods to that has any money. Capital will flow in torrents into safe places, first Switzerland and England but later and in greater volume the USA.

The US will become concerned that the dollar is too strong and our exports are too expensive, so we will join in on the competitive currency debasement game. Treasuries will sell at a premium and the yield curve will invert before the flight to safety subsides.

This may not happen soon, but it will happen. Central banks, governments and the IMF are very good at kicking the can down the road, but the road is finite in length. The problem is in guessing how long they can keep up the charade that the world capital structure is not fatally misaligned. There is danger in being right too early.
