New record of all cryptocurrencies market cap: 28 billion.

Litecoin Segwit closer to activation threshold. If Litecoin manages to activate Segwit it will also be a big thing for BTC.

BTC price nearing highs in which a cascade of shorts liquidation could start to happen.

Not looking bad at all at this time, but lets see how it all folds.

I will give a million dollars to anyone who can get the price of one bitcoin up to one million dollars for at least a day.*

Make it so.

This offer expires in one year. Must be on an exchange that I can cash out at least 100 bitcoins for a million dollars each.

Litecoin segwit support at 76%! Buy Litecoin NOW or die trying. Cool

And it has to hold above it for two solid weeks. What could be a more perfect scenario for whales and miners to pull the market's plonker? They might drag it out for months unless it's shoved through via another method.

Imagine that replicated with Bitcoin, not that the 95% thing will ever happen.

Your proposition is ridiculous, goofy and pie in the sky fantasy..

Clearly, if any person or group were to be able to cause BTC prices to rise up to $1million within a set time frame, such as 1 year as you suggested, to make the pay off and to profit handsomely, you would really need only have a small amount of bitcoin - including as small of an amount as 1.1 bitcoins.. sure you could have more than that, but not necessary.

Anyhow, this may be a speculation thread - but with your preposterous post, you seem to want to turn the thread into absurdia fantasyland.

I agree. Its makes me sick to see those fantasy moon speculations because we moved up from a crash. Its really hard to believe that those people who are saying 500k are so naive. Btc will never reach that. You cant compare it to gold and here is why:

-gold is less vunerable than bitcoin because it cant be hacked, its hard to steal compared to bitcoin.
-you can easily 'destroy' btc or lose it for ever. This isnt a problem with gold
-BTC will never go mainstream because of lots of peolpe dont understand it, they dont like big financial like chances. BTC is for tech. people, investors and countries that have a very high inflation like Venezuela and African countries.
- gold has no external variables to 'use' it. BTC needs elektricity, exchanges, computers, wallets etc etc.
And I could go on for a while.

Why cant we just enjoy this price for a while? Maybe we can hold it on this level for now.
Bitcoins exponential growth is also decreasing whats quite normal because 1 btc is worth a lots more than a couple years ago what makes an exponential growth impossible. Bitcoins exponential growth decreases with 10% every year. So in about 7 years from now its likely that bitcoin has already topped (at least in my calculations)

If btc really reaches 500k its likely that the normal folks wont hold it anymore and that almost all the bitcoins are owned by rich jews, oil barrons from Soudi Arabia and wallstreet + China and Russians. We would lose the power completely.

I am not gonna jump in that pump&dump.
And why not? We are in the speculation thread. We want to make money.
I think that pump and dump is a good way to do it.

Would it result in a GOX like crash? Interesting scenario.

Bitfinex would still be solvent, unlike Gox, but with no way of getting USD out of there then the only way out is BTC. Gox was usually 5-10% above everywhere else because of that for a long time.

I'm not sure whether their channels are the same for deposits though. If all USD supply dried up it would become pretty irrelevant.

Mt. GOX is back up! ~ did you guys miss the news? :-D
That's good news. I heard that the Mt Gox are planning to get back up with the same exact processing which the bitfinex used and i heard the news about the Mt Gox was one of the reason why the price of bitcoin mooning this days. Could the reason why we have bitcoin at the $1200 level?

Probably not. They've withdrawn their lawsuit with Wells Fargo so as far as I can tell there's no other way out of there other than BTC for now.

They say they have "other outbound channels available". However I don't know WTF "other channels" means. Maybe it means there are other intermediary banks they can use, or maybe it means we can use tether, or Bitcoin to withdraw instead. Coindesk says there will be an announcement soon, so we won't be left in suspense long.

Lots of moaning elsewhere about no wires getting through but hopefully they can get something sorted out. Tether will be tied up with their other banking issues I presume. I can't say USDT ever seemed like a hugely reassuring idea to me.

Interview with Phil Potter from BFX here. It sounds like generalised banking fear of infringing regulations. They don't want the ball ache. I wonder if this might become a contagion.
