Coinbase has become such an altcoin whore now.

They be in it to make money. They have no ideological duties. If they could legally make money by selling photographs of me on the toilet giving a friendly wave then they'd do it. I'd undercut them though.

When you have more than 12 BTC, I would recommend using Bitcoin Core on a computer that can handle it. The only other wallet I've used is Electrum.

On a properly secured computer, it's fine. I know someone who uses an android software wallet with 50+ BTC in it.


All the coins and alts I hold are on software wallets. Do whatever you need to do to keep your computer secure, whether that's installing firewalls or running it in a VM or isolating it from the internet.

Online computer are never safe(just think about the recent Windows Defender remote hole). Use an old pc, which you never connect to the internet. Or just buy a Trezor. Much easier this way.

No, it's not fine. When I am not trading I do computer security for a living and I know all the ways why it isn't.

That doesn't mean it is a sure thing that you will be hacked, but there's no need to gamble with that when current hardware wallets are so cheap and convenient to use.

About the guy with 50+BTC on an android.... well, everything is relative, it depends on his net worth... if that's what he spends in a couple of days or even a week, then its ok. Other than that it's irresponsible. But hey, it's his money.

The non-bubble uptrend continues. After a solid $100 correction/profit-taking/consolidation we're right back with a fresh new ATH... currently $1784USD (Bitcoinaverage).

That's $2457CAD according to Google. Two and a half grand is getting tantalizingly close.

All of us must have made enough recently to buy a trezor (or similar) without even noticing it. Do it! you can't trust your phone or your computer.
Make sure you practice with it a little before commit large amounts of funds to it, and write down the recovery seed!
You will sleep easier.

Bitcoin's growth is cumulative from our point of view.  Naturally we look at it as a percentage rather than an amount, so going up $50 in one day is only special if that's a particularly high amount of the total, which it's not.

You did calculate your paperwallets by hand with pencil and paper?  

Anyways, you will probably need a computer and a software wallet to redeem them....

No need. He does have multiple off-site backups of his paperwallets... as everyone should for any kind of seed.
