I've been feeling that the price jump has been built on FOMO speculation for a while now. I think that the real, solid base is around $6k (roughly following the longer-term linear trend), but I expect speculators to stabilize it if it reaches $10k, at the very least, and then those prices might or might not stabilize.

So IMO $6k and below is "solid", $6k-$10k is semi-solid, and everything above $10k is a house of cards. No idea what'll actually happen in the next few days, though; it's pure speculative madness. In the next hour, I wouldn't be surprised to see a drop to $10k or an increase to $16k.

Any idea what is driving this selloff and volatility ?

Started tanking right after Adam admitted Blockstream employs an army of full-time paid shills.

I'm not entirely sure that is what he meant though.

Plausible. Though his message was jumped on as an admission, and he said nothing to dispel the notion.

The only question is BTC or BCH.

Haven't you still answered that one?

Like I said earlier, I hold 3 BCH for every BTC I hold.  So I'm leaning towards BCH but acknowledge that BTC may pull a rabbit from the hat and solve the block size limit problem.

The rabbit from BTC's hat is coming (it's the lightning network). Meanwhile BCH has done exactly nothing to that effect. And no, just increasing the block size limit is not solution, just a patch in the gaping hole. It will also prove deadly mid term.

Whatever the case, 2018, with Nasdaq entering the bitcoin futures market along with Cantor Fitzgerald, and now Goldman open to the decentralized currency, might just make this next year as interesting as 2017 for enthusiasts.

Still there anyone want to go panic?

Time for the next ATH game  Grin I say 29. Dec. 2017. After series of ATH's BTC will reach 25K on 15.Jan.2018 before the next dip.
Jan is early
let everyone pay taxes
people are mining $8M everyday so let them pay taxes in billions of $ so next TH will be after April and end of 2018 is 35K +
Last year at this time everyone thought that 2k by the end of 2017 was unrealistic. I wouldn't be surprised at all if btc hit 50-100k end of 2018.
that's exactly my thought too

See ya at the next halving?

There's another leg up to be had, up to $80k-$100k.

I wouldn't look that gift horse in the mouth.
