Bitstamp is back to the niveau before the Gox news A lot of pigs got slaughtered. I'm just wondering if the one who sold 8.5k BTC with a market order on BTC-E taking the price down to $102 is a mentally challenged trader who went full retard or just a poor guy who got his account hacked. He lost MILLIONS to the lucky bastards that had bids down to $100 on BTC-E. Somebody six-folded his money in a couple of seconds.

It's time to get nervous again, bears.
ZOMFG! We dropped to 530 on Stamp. You forgot? One week ago this forum was full of: ToDAMOOn slaughting Bears roflcoptr 500$ Coins will never come. 10.000$ n3xt week. I think it's a good chance that this was the last big drop, but who knows? ...caution is an alien on this board. Market crashed. 10 Minutes after they are posting dead bears. Mentally handicapped? Ok bears, you've got your 6 hours of paranoia , now back to hibernation .

People panicking and thinking bitcoin is broken due to the Clowns press release , then somebody didn't look how many buy orders were in when he dumped on btc-e.

quick executive summary please
Gox blames Bitcoin for its problems. People panic thinking Bitcoin is broken. Price plummets. People realize Gox is full of shit and trying to shift the blame. Price recovers.

A lucky guy from another forum had some of those (joke) orders in the 100-200 range at btc-e. He was a well-known anti-bitcoin and refused to buy in for more then $600.
He's still crying out of happiness...

https://www.mtgox.com/press_release_20140210.htmlNon-technical Explanation: A bug in the bitcoin software makes it possible for someone to use the Bitcoin network to alter transaction details to make it seem like a sending of bitcoins to a bitcoin wallet did not occur when in fact it did occur. Since the transaction appears as if it has not proceeded correctly, the bitcoins may be resent. MtGox is working with the Bitcoin core development team and others to mitigate this issue. the plot thickens considerably

My thoughts are we have seen the end of coins from Mt Gox. There will never be another coin that leaves because there aren't any left.
I think the real question is, how much does that matter? Lets say the price settles around $700 until gox next announcement (they said Monday they'll have an update, right?), at which time they basically come out and confirm they're done. What would that do to the price? As far as I'm concerned, the current rundown is already working under the assumption that any funds locked up in Gox are doomed. So any official announcement by Gox may result in a very short term reaction downwards, but logically it should bounce back up close to current levels pretty quickly. Simply put, I think it's a reasonable assumption to think that the current prices already have the worst case Gox scenario priced in (or at least, pretty close to it). There would still be short term reaction to an official gox announcement, but any fall should see a pretty quick bounce back to current levels (by current, I mean wherever we end up Sunday/Monday before any official statement). Whereas good news (aka people being able to move BTC out of Gox) would see a huge price spike, with the other exchanges following along at a less extreme, but still upwards, rate. That said, I'm still hoping for some more downward pressure in the coming days leading up to an announcement by Gox. And, just like that it happens (didn't exactly announce they're done, but did spread other fud). Pretty happy to see us bounce right back up near previous levels after Gox fud. Markets (mainly BTC-E) certainly reacted a little crazier than I expected, but I think it's a rather encouraging sign for the long term value of bitcoin, to see it get smashed hard with deceptive news and have people almost immediately identify it as such and restore most of the value back.
