Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

4 best months so far:

12/2017   average price=$14835
 1/2018   average price=$12891
 7/2019   average price=$10665
 8/2019   average price=$10612

#3 is actually July 2020 at 11323 (coinmarketcap) by closing, but higher on coindex index-$11430
Not sure if average is more relevant or less.

Basically, apart from two "frothy" months of 2017-2018 peak, we closed July at the highest monthly.
A 'bronze' so far...going for "gold"  Wink

I am pretty sure that average price for the month is an important measurement if trying to weigh BTC's whole movement, including figuring out if a longer period of time (such as a whole month) is more bullish relatively speaking as compared with another previous month, and I am pretty sure that the average BTC price for the month of July 2020 would be less than $10k - because the BTC price was only above $10k for the last four days of July 2020.

Now, August 2020 could be a different story.  We are only 4 days into this particular month, so far, and accordingly, we would not want to get overly excited, or would we?

You can look at the below linked website for the daily weighted average for each of the days in July 2020.

https://bitcoincharts.com/charts/bitstampUSD#rg60ztgSzm1g10zm2g25zv

You have to click on the link: "Load raw data" on the bottom left of the page in order to see the daily weighted average for each of the days for the past 60 days or so.

Not sure if average is more relevant or less.

Of course the average is more relevant.

Based on my above post, and the post of Phil_S predating my post, I feel as if I had plagiarized Phil_S - even though I had not intended such.   Cry Cry

let's take a look at the weekly rsi and check what happened to the price of bitcoin when it went to overbought aka rsi above 70 (Bitstamp/$)

July2012: price went from 6.50 to 16.41 (+150%)

Jan2013: price went from 13.15 to 259 (+1800%)
Oct2013: price went from 130 to 1163 (+794%)

May2016: price went from 440 to 778 (+76%)
Nov2016: price went from 720 to 1139 (+58%)

Feb2017: price went from 911 to 1350 (+48%)
Apr2017: price went from 1210 to 2980 (+146%)
Aug2017: price went from 2600 to 4979 (+91.5%)
Oct2017: price went from 4093 to 7590 (+85%)
Nov2017: price went from 5800 to 19666 (+239%)

May2019: price went from 5520 to 9096 (+64%)
June2019: price went from 7514 to 13880 (+84%)

when rsi went above 70 the average percent rise has been 300%

currently the weekly rsi is sitting at 66.5

this would put us somewhere in the $40k area. and that is just the average local peak, not the blow-off top of a possible big bull. even the lowest percentage increase of 48% would put us close to ATH.

comrades, don't sell out too early.

note: this is not a complete list. I left out 2 or 3 the fake outs. it is easy to see a fake out looking back. but impossible to know it when it crosses in real time. don't sell your house just because weekly rsi went above 70.

edit: to get a more realistic average %rise, let's not count the biggest and smallest rise, which results in an average of 178% rise aka new ATH

You missed the key part there, see bold. If you think those few measly bags shown in those short video clips represents 22+ heavy rifles and a shitload of heavy ammo, then you clearly don't know anything about weapons.

Also with all the video cameras filming his every move in every corner of the building for a solid week, is that all the video we get? Really?

Again, the basis of the absurdity lies with 1) bringing 22+ rifles, no one with actual intent to kill would bring that many, 2) not bringing an actual sniper rifle for the range required, and 3) after 64 years of life, no background/history, no records, no motive, no reason.

First day of school in Atlanta, GA, US (R). This is going to turn out well in 2 weeks, then 6 weeks before a lot of Republican adults die.

Early voting there doesn't start till Oct 12th either. They better have a lot of people collecting ballots in the morgue.

It's surprising how many peeps whom I have considered to be quite intelligent (not only on this forum but also IRL) have fallen for conspiracy theories (COVID-19, 5G, Bill Gates mind control chips etc)  Grin

With all the conspiracy theorist propaganda out there, it's easy for the weak-minded to be brainwashed.

That said, don't be a conspiracy denier either. Of course the examples you listed are laughable but that doesn't mean that what Edward Snowden pointed out is also bullshit.

Plandemic and chemtrail mind control may be imaginary but covid and PRISM are very real.

Be neither conspiracy theorist nor conspiracy denier... i.e. use your brain.

I remember this one time when a sixty-four year old white man just out of the blue decided he wanted to shoot up a bunch of randoms in Las Vegas. So he drove something like 100 miles from his house and went to a high-end Vegas hotel that literally has spy security cameras in every lobby, elevator, hallway, stairway, corridor, street, garage, and back lot. Taking 5-6 separate trips up the elevators from the parking garage, he managed to drag 22+ heavy rifles of different makes and various calibers and a shitload of heavy ammo up to his penthouse suite completely without suspicion or being remembered by any of the hotel staff or other patrons. Because it's more exciting to evade arousing suspicion and being caught the more round trips you can make, and you can never have too many rifles with you if you are a sharpshooter assassin (/s). Of course there is zero recorded camera footage of all these separate trips. Note also that none of the 22 rifles were configured or even appropriate for long range shooting. Then he proceeded to open fire on the crowd of randoms with only 2 of the rifles (that could barely hit the broad side of a barn at 500 yards), and ignoring the 20 other rifles he brought with him because, hey, you can never have too many rifles with you if you are a sharpshooter assassin (/s). I mean, why bring only one AR-15 when you can bring 14? And everyone knows that bump stocks are really accurate, right? (/s)

No camera footage exists of all his rounds trips with all the guns and ammo. (My understanding is there are also hidden security cameras inside the high-end hotel suites like the one he was in). He had been checked into the hotel for a week, and still zero footage.
No burn marks on the carpet from the hundreds of spent ammo rounds.
No day job or career history, no phone or txt msg records, no public ID record, no background, no gun purchase or registration records, no criminal history, no online internet history at all of the shooter for the 64 years of his life.
No motive at all for the shooter. To this day, the police have zero motive or leads/evidence as to any sort of planning or motive.

Absolutely nothing about the official story adds up. It's fucking absurd. But hey, the public turned off their common sense and dismissed any questioning of all this as a "conspiracy theory". Just believe exactly what the MSM tells you... and they did.

"Not all conspiracy theories are true, but that doesn't mean none of them are."
i.e. use your brain.

Shouldn't a conspiracy have all these holes covered ? Like, as a basis ? Also, what was the point of that conspiracy ? It's not like mass shootings are uncommon in the US, so one more, one less, who cares ?

Why would you need accuracy when shooting at a crowd ?

Many members of the WO thread likely know about the top 100 days list that had originated in January 2013 as a top 20 days list (and only listing USD/BTC pair in the beginning), and such updating of daily average volume weighted BTC price has recently been taken over by yefi, and that thread has been providing great daily average BTC price information updates for more than 7.5 years (with some holes in the data, too), at least, in recent times, when bitcoin prices start to reach into the top 100 days pricing arena - and showing that in this latest BTC price surge USD/BTC prices have been back in the top 100 for this particular price cycle for the past eight days - reaching 59th place on August 1  with the USD/BTC pair weighted average price of $11,631 and today's weighted average USD/BTC price at $11,216.

If you either had not known about such classic BTCtalk thread, or you had forgotten about how interesting the information contained therein might be, it is a great historical reference to glance at top-level trade volume weighted USD/BTC prices, and showing 4 other fiat/BTC pairs there, too.

Unless you have no community transmission you are mad to open any thing and certainly not schools where everyone is close together.
the CDC say (though nobodt seems to listen)
While other countries that reopened schools have generally not experienced outbreaks in school settings, almost all had significantly lower levels of community transmission than the U.S. and greater testing and contact tracing capacity. Moreover, several disease clusters connected to schools and children have been reported.
Taken together, the evidence indicates that where there is already widespread community transmission, as in many areas in the U.S., there is clearly a risk of further spread associated with reopening schools. The risks of reopening need to be considered carefully in light of the recognized benefits of in-person education.

On "conspiracy theory", my brain has been rocked again this afternoon by a year old,  Bob Lazar on Joe Rogan episode #1315 detailing gravity wave machines, free energy, (aka UFO's) during his 6 month, hands-on working experience. Raising questions on thermodynamics.
Trying to decide what it means for BTC or at least mining when energy can be generated for free on relatively small scale  Huh  Scarcity will still rule.

911 was the great American conspiracy, this will be known as the great scamdemic and next we get to look forward to alien invasion and zombie sheeple. Shocked

Beautiful test today. SpaceX continues to just do their thing and everyone else is playing catchup. Granted they are standing on some pretty giant NASA shoulders but SpaceX has to be given sole credit for normalizing reusable launch vehicles. Kind of crazy how just a few years ago many didn't believe it was practical to even bother to try and achieve.

Edit: sorry for the formatting I tried to use a table and when I previewed the post everything seemed fine but it did not displayed correctly for some reason.

Tables can be a pain. You need to either use non-breaking spaces or redundant characters, such as underscores or dots, to set the width and prevent wrapping. If you use redundant characters, you can hide them with [color=transparent]. e.g.

Other option is to use the [pre] tag and just align everything like you're using a 90s word processor.

Interesting data by the way!
