First day of school in Atlanta, GA, US (R). This is going to turn out well in 2 weeks, then 6 weeks before a lot of Republican adults die. Early voting there doesn't start till Oct 12th either. They better have a lot of people collecting ballots in the morgue. Holy shit! Some are not even wearing masks... this is not going to end well... some of their parents/grandparents are going to die...

Ledger App Isolation Bypass 04 August 2020 https://monokh.com/posts/ledger-app-isolation-bypassThis post will disclose a vulnerability in the Ledger hardware wallets that can lead to theft of user funds.
An attacker can exploit this method to transfer Bitcoin while the user is under the impression that a transaction of another, less valuable altcoin (e.g. Litecoin, Testnet Bitcoins, Bcash, etc.) is being executed
If you use bitcoin forks on your device, you could be affected. You should avoid using these ledger apps until fixes are available.
The issue has been disclosed to Ledger but remains unaddressed. See Disclosure Timeline.

If we're going to spend an entire August in 11xxx range... well, that's fine with me.
It's a good range!
Stability is good, sometimes trading in a sideways range for significant period is a good thing. Se were in the $9’000’s for a while before we broke out. I’m cool with being in the $11’000’s for a month or two if it means we break out & push towards $14,000 or something by November. This is very important, bitcoin for the most part has gone above the 10k barrier but is has been unable to remain there for long, when looking at the historical data from coingecko this is what I get. Days in a row above 10k.From 28 NOV 2017 to 30 JAN 2018 63 days From 01 FEB 2018 to 01 FEB 2018 1 day From 16 FEB 2018 to 21 FEB 2018 6 days From 23 FEB 2018 to 24 FEB 2018 2 days From 27 FEB 2018 to 07 MAR 2018 9 days From 22 JUN 2019 to 16 JUL 2019 25 days From 19 JUL 2019 to 23 JUL 2019 5 days From 01 AUG 2019 to 28 AUG 2019 28 days From 03 SEP 2019 to 21 SEP 2019 19 days From 23 SEP 2019 to 23 SEP 2019 1 day From 10 FEB 2020 to 10 FEB 2020 1 day From 12 FEB 2020 to 15 FEB 2020 4 days From 19 FEB 2020 to 19 FEB 2020 1 day From 02 JUN 2020 to 02 JUN 2020 1 day From 28 JUL 2020 to TODAY 8 days and counting Total: 173 days Number of days above 10k by year2017 | 33 days | 2018 | 47 days | 2019 | 78 days | 2020 | 15 days and counting |
2020 is the year where unpredictable things have happened which was not expected, or people have not seen in decades of their life. We are witnessing many things for 1st in our life and this year just could be the change for bitcoin as well and witness something which we had not seen till now.

I've always preferred my Trezor more than my Ledger; this just reinforces that belief

Square released their Financial Statement last night: Cash App generated $875 million of bitcoin revenue and $17 million of bitcoin gross profit during the second quarter of 2020, up 600% and 711% year over year, respectively. Bitcoin revenue and gross profit benefited from an increase in bitcoin actives and growth in customer demand.
Bitcoin revenue is the total sale amount of bitcoin to customers. Bitcoin costs are the total amount of bitcoin that we purchase. We purchase bitcoin to facilitate the buying of bitcoin conducted by Cash App customers.
SourceI updated the spreadsheet from the Grayscale thread with latest results from SQUARE: Pretty impressive, of course saying that Grayscale and Square together bought 135% of mined bitcoins is naive, but gives the idea of the buying pressure it is going to hit BTC markets soon. Bullish! EDIT: I just noticed that it is the first time that Square passes Grayscale in terms of purchases. This is really important. It means a shift from the "institutional/whale" demand, given the particular purchase method of Grayscale, compared to Square's more retail focused target.

I've always preferred my Trezor more than my Ledger; this just reinforces that belief To upgrade the firmware on the Ledger you have to delete the "Bitcoin app" first. Very scary process. I don't like clicking a button that says "Do you want to delete your bitcoins? Are you really really sure??" Somehow it remembers the pass phase so you don't have to reenter it, but still..... They are wasting everyone's time putting shitcoin support on this thing, and (as now demonstrated) increasing the attack surface. Very stupid IMHO.

You're only deleting the "app" not the seed but yes, I agree. It's a very weird process

FWIW, deleting the "Bitcoin app" should not scare you at all. If it does, then you either haven't understood how a wallet works, or you haven't followed the appropriate steps to secure it. A seed can't be deleted. As long as you have your seed securely backed up (ideally in multiple places, physically separate from each other), then you have no reason to be scared. Trezors/Ledgers are just fancy containers. Reality check: if you feel worried and scared at the thought of your Trezor/Ledger being lost, stolen, destroyed, you're doing it wrong.
