So guys, how does the heatwave in Europe affect BTC price? minimally. but do you think it does somewhat? why then? I was looking at historical snapshots and noticed what may either be a trend or simply coincidence since BTC price is so volatile. During the heatwave last year (21-28 July), BTC dropped more than 1000Usd. Same thing happened during the heatwave in 2018. I am referring here strictly to Europe.

Sure, they probably cut the slob a check, thus it was a negative number on their books. I'm laughing at the "payroll tax credit". It's not a credit, the taxes are still owed and it's really money that funds Social Security and Medicare, two things that poor schmucks are going to need going forward and won't be getting if it's not paid for. My guess is they knows he's going to lose and is thus trying to front-load as much crap as possible for the next administration to unwind (thus "raising taxes") and de-fuck. Fair enough.

Fair enough. yeah....you still owe the taxes ....supposedly..it is not like your employer is gonna pay this..so essentially they are just saying you can use your not paying payroll tax as a credit card at the expense of social security and medicare for all..if your bankrupt medicare and social security then you can privatize it all for your bit money Trump/Republican donors! win/win yeah, every day it is gonna be more and more drama for Trump... I do notice the firing of all the top postal officials so that his 'minion' there can further mess with postal service to declare mail-in votes 'fraud' remember mail-in votes have to be counted with a postmark...by a certain date....whatcha wanna bet the crisis and full lockdown of no postal service will be like 2 weeks before this deadline and the postal service comes to a complete halt? Right when the 'majority' of mail-in ballots hit the world of postal service? If Trump wins the election due to some electorial college 'tomfoolery' or other 'suppress' the vote antics...I will become like the young people today a 'minimalist' I'll get rid of, 20 years early before they stick me in a nursing home, the house, possessions, everything and 'travel' outside the USA just as to not hear this crap for the next 4 years. Should probably do this anyway, but I swear, if somehow this clusterf*ck continues for another 4 years, I'll get perm residence in Canada and just 'commute' to Minnesota occasionally, to see my friends here. Every month I think this 'Trump Circus' cannot get any worse, and every month I'm dead wrong.

I assume the majority of THIS thread is invested in really shitty shitcoins. blockstream, (with Adam Back, S.Mow), Giacomo Zucco, J.Loop are very outspoken shitcoin opponents. there can not be a misunderstanding. but still this thread is whining about a media project because they will write criticially about shitcoins, before the first article is out? anyone sensing that rotten smell of hypocrisy ?

I am >99% Bitcoin. I don’t care about other, but do I care about wasting my time, the other scarce thing in the universe. If they are largely bashing shitcoins, and making comparisons and contrasting regarding shitcoin features as compared with bitcoin, while bashing various aspects of thos shitcoins, then I don't see any major problem with that. Sometimes we need very smart peeps to get into some difficult to understand details and to be bashing in a kind of technically appropriate and insightful way that might NOT be regularly done by some of us less technical folks.. so they might be adding a kind of niche to the space for a service or an angle that is not really being provided very well through other publications, currently. If we believe that they are giving too much benefit of the doubt to some shitcoin project(s), then we can react accordingly, but I would not consider any of the technical folks to be sell outs to shitcoins, even if some people do not like every single one of their projects.. and yeah, if they have their own coin, like fluffy pony and charlie litecoin, that could be a bit problematic.. because we have sometimes seen some products from altcoiners that is a bit ambiguous.. I don't see any major issues with for the vast majority of the stuff that blockstream does, but they had gotten some criticisms in the past regarding some of their projects, and even sometimes causing them to pull back a bit or to change their direction a bit...

Yes, sure, I am actually looking forward to one more voice (btctimes). Bitcoin needs to assert its "prime mover" position. That said, btc is now established itself as a "store of value" aka kind of a better "savings" account. If LN spreads wider, a "savings account" from which you can readily spend. The question is whether there is in existence broader fields and/or markets for any crypto currency? There are now other crypto (shit or not) with very ambitious goals (and I don't even mean cough-ethereum-cough). My prediction is that some of them would be eventually hacked and die, but not all of them. Therefore, they are taking market cap (at least for now) at our expense. Retail is getting excited by something that moves fast, institutions are fascinated by something where they can get a low cost position as they accustomed to do with pre-IPOs sweet deals so they get in at a low price, then "push" the price up and distribute (at least in part) to retail. Rinse and repeat. Bitcoin does not fit in this narrative because institutions were not there before most of bitcoins were mined. Well, maybe Panthera, but that's it.

Or at least blue leaning states openly defying the federal administration (which is already going on about illegal immigration). The supreme court leans republican however once you're there you're there, I'm sure even Trump appointees could rebel against him if their legacy is on the line. BTW, Trump is so unpopular that I'm not convinced he can win that way. It could play a role for congress though.

I'm not sure the stock market really means something.
If people are out of work, the economy slowed down, then who cares about what the stock market is doing ? The job of politicians isn't to pander to the stock market either, despite what Trump seems to think.
If taxes are put back at what they were before, and companies and shareholders earn a little less, who cares ?
