Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still sideways in the $11xxx range... currently $11812USD/$15652CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Ah, the summer doldrums.

Amazing days for crypto!
I expect bitcoin and eth to hit ATHs very soon

You appear to be lost kind sir or kind madaam.   Undecided

how can you be so bearish?  Shocked

It's not about being bearish. JJG is usually pretty bullish.

It's about this being a Bitcoin thread.

There's a whole sub-forum for Altcoin Speculation.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=224.0

"Crypto" is an annoying term (often accompanied by "blockchain technology") used by those who don't recognize the superiority of decentralized, non-pre-mined, limited-supply Bitcoin.

Seems that the word would not be bearish, but instead distracted.. if you happen to not be lost, and if you are attempting to defend ur position, then perhaps you are a bit distracted rather than lost?

bearishness is a different category of discussion than being lost or distracted, so there is that angle, too.

Regarding me personally, I have a pretty long track record posting in this thread, and sure bearish is a relative term, but not too many folks who have been paying attention in this thread would characterize my posts as tending towards bearishness.. especially in times like this when ongoing BTC price pressures have been pushing UPpity.. and furthermore, I have continuously proclaimed that we (referring to BTC here, not some shitcoin or some vague concept related to the space) have been confirmed to have been in a bull market since about May 2019... and sure we have had some meaningful and long-lasting corrections along the way, but I have not really fallen away from my May 2019 and subsequent assertions that BTC had entered into a bull market.... so there would be nothing really bearish about current BTC happenings... nor concerns from me that our current BTC price action may even be approaching anything close to either a blow off top or some kind of reversal in the bullish trend..

but sure.. it can be a bit difficult to argue with any kind of relative term like whether one member (such as me) might be more bearish than some other member.. I don't feel any need to prove or demonstrate my level of bullishness or bearishness because I have a pretty consistent posting record.. especially if you do any kind of browsing through this thread, maybe you might be able to find some representative posts that might establish your questions/concerns about my current BTC price dynamic assessments, but I doubt it.....

I'm no expert in predicting the future (who is?), but observing recent Bitcoin price action, and the ease of crossing the 10,000 € boundary multiple times, give me a strong indication/gut feeling that we are in the beginning of a MEGA pump of stratospheric proportions.

Brace yourselves. 6 digits coming soon.

You guys got the 12 word seed thing part wrong.

Short version:
12 words is like 128 bits (2048^12 = 2^132)
24 words is like 256 bits

Long version:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Seed_phrase
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/6twuj1/are_12word_seeds_for_bitcoin_private_keys_secure/

There was some nuance to the question that sort of took it in a particular direction.

The discussion started after someone posted a picture of a cool bolt/wingnut/washer mnemonic device.  And the question was how long would it take to put 24 (or 12) words into the right order.

12 vs 24 from the dictionary of 4096 words?  Both quite secure.  But if you had the 12 washers and did not know the order, doable with enough CPU power to run the permutations.  24? Not so much.

So I think we were talking about different parts of the elephant.

Ahh yes.. if anyone has physical access to your bolt and nut, you're probably almost screwed, especially if they have not yet disassembled the device. If they were stupid enough to unlock the nut and spill out the washers randomly, then you have some time to move the coins (assuming that was not your only copy of the seed phrase).

As was mentioned earlier keep a record elsewhere of the order obfuscated by a simple method like just the first letter of each and put them on the bolt out of order.

I mean... there's always TradeOgre?  But does this not mean the Barting might be coming to an end?  I wonder if this was not being driven by a desire within TPTB that have realized it's time to take real control over this market.  Who know's what's next?

First of all very few people have access to my "bolt and nut".  Ehem... that aside:

Personally in my imaginary scenario I had stored my bolt and nut at my bank, which was blown up by antifa protesters severing the bolt (dear Jesus), and scattering my nuts (this has to stop now - plus they're WASHERS) and I then had to put them back together.

In the end (har har), I decided that the very best strategy would not only be to stamp the word on each washer, but a numeral as well (1-24).

After this I also thought it might be cool to stamp them in something other than the actual order and store a key to that in a second place.

Nifty - but i seem to tend to the over complex...

What does it means when even Warren Buffet shots legacy fiat financials and get long Gold(sir something really close to)?

Berkshire reduces Wells Fargo, JPMorgan, Goldman stakes; adds Barrick Gold

Quote

Aug 14 (Reuters) - Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc BRKa.N said on Friday it has reduced its investments in some of the largest U.S. banks, lowering its stakes in Wells Fargo & Co WFC.N and JPMorgan Chase & Co JPM.N and eliminating a stake in Goldman Sachs Group Inc GS.N

In a regulatory filing detailing its U.S.-listed investments as of March 31, Berkshire also disclosed a new 20.9 million share investment in Toronto-based Barrick Gold Corp ABX.TO, one of the world's largest mining companies

If warren Buffet want to buy Gold, it’s time to get your seatbelt fastened.

That's a weird move from WB.
I guess they did not let him do his favorite deals (8-10% coupon on some preferrds), so he got cranky.
Still, his Wells Fargo stake is 6bil vs goldmimner (GOLD) 600mil.
However, he is known to take and exit positions in chunks.

a 24 word seed. on two bolts.

brass washers numbered 1 - 12   using 12 seed words of 24

aluminum washers number 1-12. using 12 seed words of 24

stored in two places.

if an evil doer  finds the brass ones he will think he has a 12 word set of a seed and go no where.

if a second evil doer finds the aluminum ones he will think he has a 12 word set of a seed and go no where.

so an evil doer needs to find both and then figure it is a 24 seed wallet not a pair  of separate 12 seed wallets

but what if i find both my brass 1-12 and my aluminum 1-12

well a comes first so list the 12 aluminum then list the 12 brass.

actually I get it just fine.

If I went this route I would have the two bolts sorted in two different bank safety deposit boxes.

The bolts are more of a back up for physical destruction safety of the  wallet.

For me at my age hodl for more then 10 years may happen but I would be 73 in ten years. With no kids so I would most likely want to spend the money so having it stashed in 1 safety box is not  what I want. If I have the two bolts spilt in two boxes it will take me more time to get to it.

So it forces me to hodl I would like to hodl till I am 73.
