Interestingly All the propositions I've seen are all tethered to a land base, I see no reason to not have it hanging with a landing pad as that would alleviate most of the issues they have been trying to work out.
Alleviates some, aggravates others. Always a trade-off. There was quite a definitive article a few years back but I have no idea where to find it again. Larry Niven has covered some of the issues in one of his essays too. they also have the dual use case of key recovery. Great minds think alike.

I'm selling almost every day (DCA) to pay for our lake.
We started with regular cars, then lambos, now ranches and lakes...soon whole building blocks and/or villages, then islands, maybe asteroids, planets, stars, etc For me, Bitcoin has "bought" me the most important thing in the universe: time, and the peace of mind that I can survive and do anything I ever wanted to do, without having to work for it. My life is already full, no need for Lambos or lakes. I own two wonderful houses, one in the city, another in the countryside, right next to a beautiful beach. My car is 6 years old and in pristine condition. Frankly, sometimes I'm trying to think of what to buy, but I'm out of ideas... tl;dr: The most important thing that Bitcoin can buy, is TIME! The time one needs to do the things that really matter (and these are almost never material, although most people have been conditioned/brainwashed to think they are). Thank you, Bitcoin! coming from a very poor family and I never had any meaningful amount of money way into my 30ies. then bitcoin happened. and one day i was - of all places -strolling through the aisles of a giant home depot store when it dawned on me that prices of things lost their meaning and that i could fill up my cart with what ever i wanted - but -unlike a kids dream in a toys`r us store- the magic was gone. i bought nothing. I had this same thing happen. When I first started hanging out with my wife, Nadia, she loved going to the mall. We would walk and walk and all I could think was what a waste of time it was but it seemed to make her happy so whatever. I told her that they could give me the whole mall and tell me that I can take home anything I wanted. There isn't one thing I could think of that I would want in that mall. I am certain that there are a lot of people out there that would fear such a feeling spreading throughout the populace. They need us to desire crappy material items. I wonder if a year of people not going to restaurants or shopping all day has disrupted such a feeling and given people the break they needed to get over their addiction to such things.

20 years ago I had a young brother-in-law that was intelligent, but a general goof-off at life. He worked throwing trash into a truck. He won 2 million at one shot in a casino, he immediately quit his job. I imagined he would blow it on beer and monster trucks.
He had two children whose baby mamas came out of the woodwork after him (he was paying nothing) for years of no support. Later I looked him up in his state's online court search. There were several court actions against him from financial institutions, and a few other things that I attributed to bad spending habits.
The last I heard he lost it all and was throwing trash into a truck. Still going to the casino, "because he's lucky".

Get it into orbit and use it to tether (and as material for) a space elevator.
Now, space elevators are another topic. We don't have the materials right now but fun stuff like if one collapsed, it would wrap around the world a couple of times (IIRC). This is stuff we're working on...it was the whole point of our seastead in Thailand. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Launch_loopIt would need to be done in the ocean. Strangely enough, about a week before the Thai navy came after us a friend of mine told me that he has had friends killed who were trying to create technology to go into space.

Larry Niven is one of my all time favorite authors. I rank him as my favorite. Though it's a purely subjective thing. Need a feature length Ringworld movie.
Right now, Hollywood can just stay the fuck away from anything I love, please.

Just watched the RGB demo call. I am still confused as to how it works and I have delved deep into colored coins for several years. I guess that wasn't the point of the demo, explaining the underlying mechanisms (which I have perused but still don't quite get it).
They showed the app on testnet creating an asset then transferring an asset. They said it will be able to work over the liquid network, Lightning Network as well as the regular bitcoin blockchain. All anonymously such that nobody can tell what has been transferred by looking at the transaction.
One big sneak peak they gave was that future development will include staking and DEX with Bitcoin. Defi is coming to Bitcoin. They said it's about a year out.
Their app is still in alpha stage, coming out on iPhone soon.
thanks for these updates Elwar, much appreciated.

Mainstreaming space will definitely open a can of worms and rock a few boats.

Golden asteroids bro golden. This is why they are racing towards Mars https://www.the-sun.com/lifestyle/tech/261083/giant-golden-asteroid-has-enough-heavy-metals-to-make-everyone-billionaires-and-nasa-is-heading-there-in-2022/Mars Is nicer than the moon. Actually has wind and an atmosphere. They will set up a mining base camp there. Load it up with gold as it is easier and safer to do it there. This will make gold as common as copper. If your realize that gold is godlike in its ability to work with electrical systems when compared to lead or copper. The world will finally be able to have cheap world wide power. The big issues are how soon will it happen? (10-40 years my guess) What to do with all the wealth stored in gold? Move it to btc over the next 0-10 years if you have brains. So I can see 11 trillion gold cap shifting into the 1 trillion btc cap. All smart forward thinking wealthy mofos see this. If they are heavy into gold they will be slowly moving it into BTC So BTC now has an easy path to 5x or 10x its current numbers. buy and hodl That is definitely coming, I remember watching a documentary once about how humans could terraform Mars and it turns out that one of the first things humans will need to do is to make the atmosphere thicker and in order to do this humans will have to do something in which we are experts, to pollute the air. So unlike earth in which mining companies need to follow regulations so they do not pollute as much on Mars they will be encouraged to pollute. There are only two big problems, one is how to to make space travel less risky and cheaper and to lower energy costs so it is more efficient to transport material from asteroids or other planets rather than doing it on earth, this will not be easy but I think we are on our way to do so. With this in mind this means the days of gold as a store of value are coming to an end as an increase in its supply will crash its price, and despite all of this bitcoin will be unaffected as the supply of bitcoin is set in stone and will never increase past its established limit. HODL

I'm sure your new private lake will give you years of enjoyment (is the pic from there?).
Yep. Here are the only man-made things on the whole property: It'll be our own private nature preserve. Someone else can save the tropical rain forests. We'll save the eastern forest–boreal transition forest. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_forest%E2%80%93boreal_transitionEdit: Actually we're already saving the rain forest. We have a hectare of pristine old-growth rain forest in the Maya jungle. No plans to build on it.
