I am coming to the conclusion that in the future it may be best to be able to defend your home/property yourself. I could either buy vast acreage and build a fortress, or buy an island that is easier to protect as the only people coming will be coming by boat...which can be defended against.
you know there are these things called "aircraft" that make a lot of traditional defenses useless. You know there are these things called anti aircraft guns that shoot down aircrafts, says a former AA gunner. drones are small, cheap and hard to see. program piles of them and set em loose. point being there are always guys with bigger/better guns. always. in my youth i read some dystopian Robert Heinlein stuff that seemed just crazy with their political premises and such. now im practicality living it. edit: thanks for your service to your country btw This isn't meant to be deliberately offensive, and apologies to any veterans if it comes across that way, but I can never really understand the "thanks for your service" rhetoric, most commonly encountered in the US. Firstly, members of the armed forces there are receiving a salary, so is it really "service"? Secondly, the US's recent military endeavours have largely been in the service of, and to the benefit of, oil corporations and their shareholders, rather than to their country. I thought we'd gone beyond the naïvety of thinking that governments wage wars for the benefit of their people. That really depend on what country you are talking about. And I think the "thank you" thing is more about the obvious added risks that sometimes comes with that particular job.

All you need to stop a drone is a net.
for the 1st wave maybe. they can be expendable to the point of just sheer overwhelming numbers. so what if 90% of the drones are taken out as long as they take out what took them out. next ones get further, either making it or by thoughtfully trying to blow up near anything that seems to have slowed them down, paving the way for the drones behind it. drone specialized for cutting nets (or blowing up next to such nets) would seem to be fairly trivial but im not an engineer. swarm behavior is something else.

Use more nets, make them out of metal, or ceramic. There's always a countermeasure.

It is obvious that shitcoins short-lived pump is stalling. A new harvest of shit-bagholders is being formed. First, they won't be willing to sell at -40% discount. Then they will be frustrated at -70%. And at -95% they will cry to return at least to -60% to invest in Bitcoin. Anyway, the next week shitcoins will be flushed and king Bitcoin will shine again with a steady growth. I expect over 70K in 1-2 weeks.

Fair enough, although that's not really an explanation. But service to country? Or service to corporate interests?

I read so much Sci Fi in my youth that it's all a blur now, but I remember enjoying Heinleins books.
I'm reading starship troopers right now and absolutely loving it. Different to the movie of course (I loved that too mind you but for different reasons).

There's always a countermeasure. lol its like Spy vs Spy from MAD magazine. how fast you you make and deploy new nets as my drones adapt and destroy or overwhelm them? and one can make a LOT of drones very fast and truck em around. some may be smaller that your net mesh size even. no one cares if they even survive (theyre not meant to survive: job is go there and find something interesting to blow up next to. the sole purpose is to wear down defenses so the next ones go further. bleh. depressing train of thought anyway.
