Is proudhon the father of gembitz ?
Nope proudhon is proudhon.
Consistent and to the point.
I am torn between believing he is just very sarcastic and humorous, and at times he can be very funny, or just a bear troll disillusioned with Bitcoin because of his past losses. Either way he is an essential part of the WO ecosystem.

Wheres Gembitz is just annoying and possibly related to BillyCoiner nocoiner, both go weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

interesting.. so (say) the government could mandate that history books that you bought and own on your kindle can be "revised" - just pressure the author or whatever.

no thanks.

whats on my Nook never changes. my history and scientific stuff will never be "improved" to match the current political climate.

The reason that I prefer the physical books and some newspapers in my library, is they cannot be revised.
History especially is being continually revised to change inconvenient facts that contradict current ideology.
A recent read of George Orwell's 1984 is even a more accurate vision of the future (2021) than when I first read it in 1970.
A favorite quote "Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past"

yeah that quote is so true.

i also prefer real books, just something about the heft, the feel, texture of the paper etc. and any artwork really doesnt translate well on a greyscale epaper reader. plus of course the text will never change.

but i cant carry around 2000 books everywhere i go so i actually have sometimes bought both the real and ebook versions of the same novel lol. some may say thats a waste but hey some things are worth having multiple copies of in different formats, for example no eletricity to charge your devices?  all i need is daylight or a candle to read a real book.

and yes i do have a smallish solar cell setup that can charge my phone/nook etc but thats beside the point really.

I go weekly and still love the movies……

Just like to go out of the house many times ffs corona kept us inside for to damn long already

Though I’m not paying with bitcoin for a ticket

I like to go for movies which are worth the big screen. The problem is other people fucking up the experience. So many benefits watching at home if the big screen isn't required.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still in the mid-$4xxxx range... currently $47890USD/$57660CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Go Bitcoin go.
_____

New car?

We're having trouble getting the Honda Pioneer 700-4 Deluxe we wanted. All the dealerships have been sold out since last January. Nothing expected this year. Seems Covid has increased demand for anything outdoorsy. RVs and trailers are scarce and at a premium. Campsite bookings are being scalped.

Then this John Deere Gator 825-S4 became available on Kijiji:

Only 1200km on the odometer and best of all, the seller will accept Bitcoin as payment.

He said he sold last year at $50kCAD out of necessity and welcomes the chance to buy back in without paying fees.

Gotta love real-world OTC/face-to-face Bitcoin transactions. No commissions, no hidden costs. Just a few satoshis worth of TX fees to the network.

Yay Bitcoin.

Is the bill/amendment news a dead duck now then? Do we just not care?  Cheesy

We don't give a fuck duck!  Cool

FTFY

Fuck a dead duck

Fuck Kwukduck.  Cool

Actually, I like it when people point out my mistakes like that, thet's how I learn.
Since English isn't my first language I'm grateful to people pointing out errors, it makes my English better.
I had for example no idea about the above difference between hung and hanged, now I know.

>and stay away from kindles... amazon trash

I love my kindle.  its what, 5 years old, battery last forever, has wifi.  I use it with Calibre, download and read the Economist for free on it every week or any book/magazine/news you find online for that matter.  I never paid for a single ebook yet and dont plan to.  Thats how I live my whole life.  Renting/subscription models can suck my satoshi

Same here. Except Amazon has large science fiction collections at a dollar a piece so I do buy those occasionally and some books for free so worth grabbing. Calibre can also unlock the DRM on amazon books if you're worried about them going away or being altered (which everyone should be).

Built-in front lights make reading in bed less of a hassle if you have a bedmate.

Het, I remember you writing that Bitcoin would never be more than 10 days above 30k USD
What happened?
 Grin Grin Grin

When you keep repeating something for 10 years and you are constantly wrong, it must have serious consequences for your mental health. The next statement that can be expected is : "Bitcoin will not be able to stay above $50K for 10 consecutive days ever again!"

When I mentioned mental health, then one such statement is more than enough confirmation of completely illogical thinking.

Yeah, I've been here for a while and that's kind of what I think. It's been a very long, slow death, but it probably did die 10 or so years ago. My guess is it was the MtGox flashcrash that ultimately killed bitcoin. Just really no way to trust this "currency" after that. I think in a years time we'll be able to see that 2011 to 2021 was nothing more than one giant dead cat bounce.

I don't see a problem. I'm just reporting the conclusions of perfect mathematical and scientific analysis and modeling using confirmed sources.

People who have a problem will rarely admit it, and I would say that you have that problem - to finally admit that you are wrong. Those alleged scientific and mathematical analyzes that you constantly mention are also more than obviously wrong if they exist anywhere outside your head at all.

There are millions of people today who claim that the earth is a flat plate, and they also have their scientific and mathematical calculations - do you think they are right with their theory?

One of the most prominent of Brazil's Flat-Earthers is Afonso de Vasconcelos, a geophysicist with a PhD from the University of Sao Paulo.

Vasconcelos is based in the United States, which is also home to a large community of Flat-Earthers. One of them died last week attempting to launch himself more than 1,500 meters (nearly a mile) into the sky in a homemade rocket.

yeah how soon until language in mark twains huckleberry finn is changed to switch to "politically correct" terms in place of what are currently considered offensive terms. being public domain at this point i wonder if they could just do it with no legal repercussions.

They can do it, but everyone already has an "original" copy of the text of that book. They can only make "child friendly" versions (which they will then copyright) and either sell or upload for free.

The original work will always be available out there.

As for me, I prefer my books in PDF format, or anything that I can easily convert into PDF, as I can then save that forever and read it offline, and nothing will change that too. I understand some tech or movement is out there to just use plain .txt files or something.

Fair comment!

I'm just having a break with coffee and a Danish I think called Fika in Sweden, while deciding whether to treat a crop today, with the risk of rain or wait until tomorrow. Your English language skills are excellent.

For those who imagine that gold is a better asset than Bitcoin, this may be a highly disappointing news.

Additionally, the team promised to “take legal actions” and asked the hackers to return the stolen funds.

This is without a doubt the best part of the article, it will surely work - and when they already contact the hackers, let them ask them to return the 600k BTC they took from Mt.Gox so that we can solve that issue once and for all Cheesy

$600 million stolen in a DeFi hack.

It's almost as if "smart" contracts are only as smart as the copypasta kids writing them. And of course they're now crying for blacklisting and other centralized bullshit.

The good news is that the AI/robot apocalypse is never gonna happen. We'll go extinct long before then, when the next shitcoint/token/nft/whathaveyou bubble tells us to send all our money to Dr. Evil and jump off a cliff.
