The large drop was almost instantaneous. This points to liquidations of positions taken out on exchanges offering silly levels of leverage. Once we dropped some 5% the liquidations began and we had a cascading effect.
I guess the noobs will never learn or this was an intentional push down by some nefarious entity (insert your favourite villain here).
The sooner we can limit leverage the better (unless you are kinggoldminer of course).

Disagree.

Why would we want to limit the freedom of others to trade how they see fit?

If there is a seller of leveraged positions, and a buyer, what REASON would we use to limit their ability to do trade?

When Bitmex was attacked by the US government and Federal reserve (read the world banking system) the awful constant Barts we used to see stopped for a time.  And that was a welcome side effect of an unjust action.

As much as I personally have an extreme distaste for the actions of leverage traders, because of my core position of FREEDOM, I will defend their right to act like apes, and even manipulate markets to do so.

I wish leverage extreme trading (>10x?) would go away but I do not see a way to do that without taking away the freedoms of others.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

I mean, I've been bucked off a few bronco's in my time, but I can't ever recall my glutes feeling this sort of muscular ache.

Not cool at all.

Perhaps you've been concentrating too much on testicular training alone, neglecting the other side?  Tongue

OK OK enough joking, now on to the good news.

I have a strange conspiracy theory that my high dosage of quality CBD capsules, daily - to help treat inflammation in another part of my body - has utterly prevented the bug from taking root in my lungs - Dosing a few hundred MG of CBD per day across a morning and evening regimen.

I'm probably retarded, tho.

Not necessarily. There is some experimental evidence that CBD and other cannabinoids have significant effects on Sars-Cov-2 ability to infect. Not THC, apparently, though.

There are quite a bunch of papers like the one I'm linking. This is but one example.

I dropped a hammer on the tile and have been too busy (lets call it busy because I hate to admit to being lazy!) and was soaked after a shower and just slipped right into the sharp edge dammit.

Toes Bleed ALOT!!!

Shiat!
If you need stitches, help yourself with some superglue (cyanacrylate). It hurts, but it stitches cuts pretty good. So you can go to the doc without bleeding over your car's carpet. Better stop the bleeding first, makes it a quick job.

If you consume herb, you get the best of both worlds, but THC also tames immune reactions AFAIK.
The severeness of Covid lies in the initial viral load, they say. But if you can suppress the replication, it's also good.
I basically feel safer being a weedhead, i also don't smoke, so my lungs are healthy too.

Just thinking about possible outcomes...

Tomorrow, supposedly, lot's of people will be buying $30 of BTC "in solidarity" with the people of El Salvador.  (And I have interest in the dynamics of this, as well as the implications... whether it's a good idea?  Or some weird pump and dump? But that is not for this topic.  I will not be playing along for... reasons)

But I have been doing *this* a little today:
I would think the outcome in most universes is underwhelming.  There might be a price spike, but not much of anything, and I would even think we would see a sort of reverse effect.  A "sell on the news" sort of event if you will.  The Bitcoin price has already been acting a little friskily.  And a cool off period would be reasonable.

But so might be another leg of this bull run.  Wink

I cut out a large portion of my blatherings, but being the perpetual optimist I want to say this...

The outcome we have seen today is better than if not much happened at all.

I think this is true:

Therefore it does not take very much selling to drop Bitcoin a LARGE amount.

The inverse is also true.  Which was the point of my hopeful post from last night.  I did not expect this big of a dump for sure, but I am strangely encouraged that Bitcoin, as usual, amazes me.  It can do the opposite just as easily.

Hah, nothing major but the clear tape I tried didn't quit work out and I had to leave a nice trail through the house while rooting for band aids. Cheesy

I had a kid trip on a grinder cord once when I was cutting a transmission cross memeber off under a car and he hooked the cord and the thing wrapped into my arm (elbow) and was stuck on spinning digging a nice hole while I yelled for someone to unplug it and I popped duct tape on it and finished the day off. That was 35 or so years ago and I still have a 4 inch 1/2 wide scar on my arm from it. Smiley

Duct tape fixes everything!

Reading this gave me the creeps, man. Hero style, though.
I think the hot dish disinfected the wound and took care of the bleeding. That's quite different to a cut.
If you can leave the tape on without further surgery or medical attention, should be fine.
But how do you pull this sticky thing off before the wound has healed? Ouch!

The issue I seem to remember with the later Tandys were they cost a shitload and their latest model that I remember looking at at the time still had CGA so you had to do a EGA upgrade on it right out of the box. Was that the T1000 (Cyberdyne model) Huh

Funny you have MFMs around, I made a living off of converting MFM's to RLL's, can't remember how many st-225's I converted to st-238's. I remember having to goto Ms-dos from cpm for games on my Zenith 5150 back then. I'd love to have that old system now just for the gold recovery, That whole board was gold including all the trace lines!

yup still have my ST225 that i bought a RLL controller card for (came with a MFM controller).. took the ST-225 in MFM mode from 20mb to 30 mb in RLL mode or something like that. presto instant 30% increase.

had an paradise  EGA card in my IBM XT, kinda funny the card had 1 meg memory and the computer itself only had 640k. (going from memory on some of those numbers) but yeah tossed in an AST 6 pack card for expanded memory and persistent time/date, an original soundblaster with 4 watts speaker level outputs and a rotary volume control in the slot plate, no amp needed.

some of the best games i can remember were on that IBM XT and later an AT. wing commander, mech warrior II.. man until doom and later GL quake nothing could touch those early games for me.

edit still buying 30 dollar chunks

would be nice to have it crash hard to 35k.  Its fun when it goes up all the time but I sold bitcoin ETF's at 46-47k and took profit in the tax free account, would like to buy again lower please.

I would like to buy more btc at 300 as my first coin-moments though I think I have more chance of a great white shark attack in my inland livining room as that to happen….

Didn't manage to scoop high $43k's, but close enough that I'm feeling pretty good with myself, today.

Thanks indeed to the IMF, for giving us this buying opportunity.

Back to sleep for me. This bug is absolutely wiping me out. Incredible lethargy and weakness. Very strange muscle pains, too.

I mean, I've been bucked off a few bronco's in my time, but I can't ever recall my glutes feeling this sort of muscular ache.

Not cool at all.

I slept for like 17 hours a day for three weeks when I had it, then suddenly over night I was back to normal sleeping pattern and the fever and headache was gone.

Wish you all the best.

One year later... and it's pretty clear 81% were right.  Cool

Those were the last days of 4 digits.
I love how Peter is always wrong. That's a skill tbh.
It's crazy but it is a tremendous skill, the guy could just throw a coin and be right 50% of the time, he could become a permabull and be wrong sometimes during the short term but be right over the long term, but he's a permabear so he happens to be wrong 100% of the time over the long term and still believes he's right, the cognitive dissonance Schiff has it has to grow and skyrocket even faster than bitcoin otherwise he'll see the error on his ways.
