EU wants every phone to have same charger – including iPhone

It also suggests that the sale of phones and their charger should be separated, so that people do not end up with a host of chargers that they do not need and which become waste.

Margrethe Vestager, executive vice-president for the European Commission’s Europe Fit for the Digital Age strategy, said the decision to move to require universal chargers came after companies failed to find a fix themselves.


“We gave industry plenty of time to come up with their own solutions, now time is ripe for legislative action for a common charger. This is an important win for our consumers and environment and in line with our green and digital ambitions.”

No doubt I would say arguably an excellent move… EU is taking lead yet again to bring a common charger and a common charging cable across all the devices… amazing bravo EU..I hope the world will follow!!!  but can we please take similar steps to a more bigger problem like “money” can we all have the same money? Let’s make bitcoin a common currency of the world.

Why should the EU care what cable or charger I use? this is stupid, it only cements the present technology and hampers innovation.
When a new and better charger/cable hits the market it will be banned in the EU, how is that good?

I'd rather have several. Not because Bitcoin isn't best but if Bitcoin has a monopoly, it makes it a target for capture. Decentralized technologies need to be like smoke. When they try to close their fist around them, they're gone.

It was pretty amazing to see a giant rectangle of TVs as big as movie screens. Peak technology used to fuel peak debauchery, aka what America is all about.

bitcoin.org got hacked via Cloudfare and hosting related issues. The team was quite upset troubleshooting the event yesterday.

It is not ever likely to be acquired by either Calvin or Craig.

I hadn't heard much of CSW for a while and was hoping that he had faded away like a mysterious rash.

... although I'm kind of surprised he hasn't disappeared in a cartel/mafia type kidnapping event where they try to extort satoshi's billions out of him with various tortuous means
