Furnace fried, grim cold.
Electricians hard to find.
Cold, despair, hopeless.

Raynaud hands type "help"
to Wall Observer brethren.
Solace found at last.

Those days are past now.
Domestic bliss, warmth, comfort
Candles, history.

A warm house is great
Yet not nearly as great as
watching bitcoin pump.

Wind, power cuts, dark.
Wax candles, the only light
When autumn storms hit.

Such times always pass.
Watching other candles now:
The big, fat green type.

You fixed it! WIN!!!!

Hey bitcoin just crossed 58k. Look at that.

The phone company tried to install a solution using a antenna and the mobile phone masts, but they couldn't get a strong enough signal.
So, I'll be on here more sporadically for a while i think, depending on how well the phone wifi solution works.

The good news is, WO is pretty low bandwidth, not least because Theymos has all-but abandoned the site and we're stuck in 2011.

Sorry, just checked the bottom of the page. That's 2009.

You say that like it's a bad thing. I think the forum is perfect as is.

....., are there any other hat-only threads I should be aware of? I only just became aware of that one. I don't want to risk getting hat-related threadlessness fomo.

Indeed...
Speaking of which, I myself, more often than not, suffer ignorance of the latest interweaves trendy events and memes.

My internet will be cut tomorrow.
The phone company is from January first no longer using the copper wires (land line) and I have land line ADSL
internet.
I have ordered fiber but it may take 6 to 12 months before they can get their asses out here and dig a cable to my house, on the other hand I only had to pay 9900 SEK for it. My neighbors who got cable when it was first installed some years ago in the area had to pay 32000 sek.
So I will be mostly using my laptop and free wifi spots in town to go online. I will try to use my phone as a wifi hot spot, but I don't know how well that will work.

 Don't you live on permafrost?

Edit:  Can't you make a deal with your neighbour to get some wifi temporarily?

Quote
Kazakhstan is reportedly second in global control of Bitcoin mining energy, after the US, with a 21.9% share of the global hash rate according to Cambridge Center for Alternative Finance Index data.

This is not the first time Tokayev has proposed to build a nuclear power plant. In 2019, he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who offered technology assistance and training.

As we mentioned, this proposal has not been well received by the citizens of Kazakhstan, who fear the environmental implications, costs, Russia’s energy dependence and the country’s past history of Soviet atomic weapons tests.

The reaction from citizens has been strong enough to put the idea aside, until now. Tokayev suggests this is something they should do and there is no other way around it. The energy situation is not the worst yet, but the Ministry of Energy has announced that the country will buy Russian electricity for the winter.

No, Malmö is on the same latitude as Copenhagen.
My neighbors wifi is unfortunately too far away, that would have been a possible solution otherwise.

For those discussing about COVID-19, vaccines, etc., I've just posted something relevant in the other thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5362774.msg58546196#msg58546196

Real case, involving some of my dearest relatives. Read it if you like. Take it as you will.

Sorry to hear about this. But also wondering, are there any other hat-only threads I should be aware of? I only just became aware of that one. I don't want to risk getting hat-related threadlessness fomo.

Not that I'm aware of. I think there may have been a couple of WO forks, made by disappointed WOers, but they all quickly died, just like BTC forks. The power of the people. In any case, I won't be visiting the COVID-19 thread much -- this was only to report my personal experience with my cousin and her family, which I think was an interesting and personally verified case that puts things in some real perspective among the mass media and conspiracy theory FUD. I hope it helps someone out there. As for me, I'm a hardcore WO resident, never really stray away from WO, that's the only place I visit in BitcoinTalk (bookmark leads straight here), and that's where I get the latest news on all things Bitcoin.

The fracking winter is here

i have to shovel
