That's about where I'm at, give or take. But I've seen a lot of other claims, some obvious bullshit, some less so in either direction so I'm limiting my confidence in my stance. Certainly, government claims have backed off from what was originally being said (though the propaganda soundbites are still hanging about in the zeitgeist because it's easier to get people to believe a lie/falsehood than to disbelieve it once they've internalized it).

However, i do think that COVID discussion should be mostly on Bob's thread.
A little here is OK, but not if it dominates.
Personally, i almost never post on this topic (maybe to clarify something biological) and I LIKE the idea of neutrality as I also don't like to discuss the political leanings per se.
It is also true that nothing, apart from bitcoin, unites the members, so we should be focused on bitcoin and connecting topics, imho.
Politics would never be a consensus here and no expectation of polite discourse on that.

I completely agree with all your post - we should look for things that will unite all WO  members despite their views on this clearly political not medical matter called Covid19.

PINE64 makes little effort to impress the consumer with the PP’s small white box, which is minimalist in design, and it doesn’t contain an instruction manual aside from a single card with links to more information on the web site. Unlike Purism, PINE64 assumes that its customers are Linux enthusiasts who don’t need any hand-holding.

I'm actually considering buying a flat near my workplace, and a house further out, because the budget for a house that I like is too much, just to be closer.

Basically I can get an OK house, barely OK even (quite ugly), good size and with a decently sized plot of land, not too close to neighbours (but not far either), and about 45min-1 hour drive from my work (if traffic isn't too bad), for 10BTC (I wouldn't spend BTC). Or I can get a better house, with a bigger plot of land, for about 6 BTC, and it's 1h30 away.

1h30 drive each way, every day, is too much, however I just changed teams at work and will now have 2 days of telework. So I'm considering the better house. Plan A would be to just do the drive. If it's too much, I'm too tired or something, I can take a hotel room or crash at my parents' who live nearby. Or I can spend the 4 BTC I saved and buy a 1-2 bedrooms flat near my work and sleep there 2-3 nights a week. The flat would also be a decent investment. However it means spending more in fees, taxes etc.

Looks like standard accessories to me, combined value ~3-5 dollars.

I've settled on a Pinephone as my next phone. My current G7 is due to stop working in February and I broke the screen by stepping on it last week in a rare act of carelessness. I was waiting for the L5 but I think they've got themselves in a position where they're a dead man walking. Good luck to them though, I'd like to see them succeed.

Everything I've seen says that the pinephone isn't quite there yet. Probably the pro will be better but it will be twice the price. I'm hoping the pinephone will be "close enough" as I don't mind having to work a little and there might be some opportunities to do something interesting while things are still fairly early.

I worked for a place that would put me up in a hotel two nights a week (four day workweek) as I had a two hour commute. Being away from home two nights a week was rough and the commute still not fun but the three day weekend definitely made up for it. Great job too and very flexible on hours though it didn't pay enough. Looking back, I probably should have seen if I could have found a way to get my income up but I was ready to end that commute by the end of it anyway.

You might consider renting a room or something. A lot of people looking for a little extra income right now.

Yes. And the Librem is more pure in this respect but they are working with dated hardware and have just pushed release another year out. That's not a great place to be in the tech world. I'm ready to be giving Google the boot so if the experience isn't perfect, I'm happy to live with that.

It seems many people are fairly bearish right now. I wonder if every time the price increases the reason it gets pushed down again is the bears start leverage shorting aggressively on the price spike. Perhaps we are going to get a short squeeze soon enough. Coins are still being taken off exchange and on-chain is generally bullish.
