Bitcoin is simultaneously Rearden Metal. It is Rearden Metal because it is better than the status quo, yet the MSM and establishment defame it relentlessly.
Represents a morphing and backfiring of a centralized organization's attempt to manipulate what should be a natural process
So instead of buying FIAT from the FED and Banksters, which I can use everyday, I should buy "Digital Gold" from Bank of KnC and Bank of Butterfly labs? Security right? I need to re-read Satoshi's paper.

Shorted much? I might have to go back a few pages, but someone said something very wise which I will also reiterate: there are only 2 times that the price of bitcoin really means anything to me: the price when I buy, and the price when I sell. Otherwise it means exactly zilch.

Just another day in the Bitcoin market... Exchange x stopped deposits in y currency?!?! This means that the price should go down artificially on that exchange. I think everyone else will dump because they think everyone else will dump because of this news. Panic sell!!!If I understand it, a ban in China is not like shutting BTC-E down. It would prevent the whole country from being able to invest in Bitcoin. If BTC-E goes down, people can just move exchanges. This should cause a massive devaluation of BTC unless we happen to end up in another hype cycle (or, deposits come back) I really dont believe the China ban is "factored in". Much like Gox, and countless other things that were 'already' factored in. That BTC-e whale is interesting..
Whats going on there? I checked and saw a shadow line of about 600BTC. Was it sold in to?

I need to re-read Satoshi's paper. don't forget the smaller bank of klondike - 3TH churning up coins like a storm I don't want to say we are at the bottom, since i said that at $600 only a week ago. however, I feel like we have fallen far enough outside of the trendlines that there is a major, visible upside that the market has yet to rebound towards. Bitcoin is in a better place than it was at $130/$1200 - ATMs are out, the IRS appears to have a basic understanding, and more people than ever know about it and can use it for everyday stuff via gfty and overstock/tigerdirect. We could fall lower, but it should not be difficult to break back above $800 by early summer, and I feel like $3000 is still a reasonable high to be hit in 2014 (possibly as the peak of a brief bubble)

Otherwise it means exactly zilch. That's relatively good, might be even better but as Rockefeller said, it is very easy to make money trading - I never buy at bottom and I always sell too soon.

Some guys are putting a bit of fight at 450$... It won't matter by the end of this week. CNY can only flow one way now: Out of the BTC "market". Those who HODL can call that good news and false rumor all they want, it won't help. Expect double digits. mother of all bears eh or kin of proudhon?

This seems to simply be Chinese capital control. They don't want to sell their currency; they want to sell goods and services in return for currency. You can still deposit and withdraw LTC/BTC and withdraw CNY. The only restriction is on CNY deposits and it is unlikely to be permanent - although I grant you that last bit is an assumption, but I think it's a sound one. This means that bitcoins are going to be harder to buy and sell within China. However China has also recognised bitcoins as a legitimate asset and has no problem with Chinese people owning them - hence demand is unaffected whilst supply... Well, what happens to the price of something when you make it harder to get hold of? Just my tuppence - make of them what you will.

There is exactly zero chance we ever see double digits again without some serious FUD like SHA-256 getting cracked or something equally disturbing.
