....... thats why I like to compliment people by calling them my favorite type of crazy. BTW My late Dad's (a born and bred Englishman) description of the American revolution... The Colonialists...they were all Brits (George Washington was a colonel in the British army) verses the English, who were mostly German Hessians. So it was really the Brits verses the Germans..... and the Brits won.... One way to spin it I suppose.... Happy July 4th bros. ....and don't get drunk and shoot bottle rockets out of your ass arse.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoElrV0hhkk

Not going to happen, they are probably going to give everyone free guns to prevent shootings Gun laws just got reviewed in the supreme court. Didn't go the way you'd like. Sorry, not sorry.
Despite the fact that MASS shooting is on the rise in USA, there is very little USA government is doing to stop these MASS shootings in future. Joe Biden too not very much in favour of gun law that let anyone buy a gun hut still there is no legislation from federal government. Godwin’s Law is only a logical corollary of this type of thinking: My late Dad's (a born and bred Englishman) description of the American revolution...
The Colonialists...they were all Brits (George Washington was a colonel in the British army) verses the English, who were mostly German Hessians. So it was really the Brits verses the Germans..... and the Brits won.... One way to spin it I suppose....
That is fantastically ignorant ethnic disinformation, albeit typical of Perfidious Albion. And the “mostly” is a flat-out lie: The Hessians comprised only about a quarter of soldiers on the British side (much less if you also count naval forces). There is also the small problem that a significant percentage of colonists were ethnic Germans (especially “Pennsylvania Dutch”, etc.). The primary fighting was Englishman versus Englishman. Rebels versus Redcoats—plus a civil war waged by domestic terrorists against Loyalists. The French intervened on the rebel side. Without French support, the insurrection would have failed. That made the rebellion more authentically French than some auxiliaries made the British government “German”. But if you want to play your dad’s logic all the way, it was really a war between French and Germans. The British do not exist: Q.E.D.Then go back in history to the H.R.E.—or even to the Carolingian Empire—and conclude that the French are Germans. Add the fact that Anglo-Saxons are German immigrants in Britain. The American revolution was just a bunch of Germans squabbling amongst themselves.

Got one of these babies at my local Costco - great price too. Right now I can only afford to grill cabbage and bread though. HODL!
Got one... Don't use it much. Same with the Instant Pot. Ah well.

So what you're really asking is why authoritarian restrictions aren't being passed against the popular will of the people *and* the supreme law of the land in a representative democracy.

Actually Richy, in the USA, thru weirdness of the system, there are some major policies that are not representative of the majority of population.. Roe v Wade being overturned for starters. Not to mention the former potus elected did not win the popular vote. (I just broke my personnel rule of no political posting...oh well...let the shit storm begin...)

Another issue: The one-sided blaming of political opponents for mass shootings. Glenn Greenwald hits the nail on the head about that (2022-05-15). https://greenwald.substack.com/p/the-demented-and-selective-game-of

Actually Rich, in the USA, thru weirdness of the system, there are some major policies that are not representative of the majority of population.. Roe v Wade being overturned for starters.
Roe v Wade was not "policy" and was not set by the legislature. Even RBG stated that the ruling was on shaky ground. The Dems have had many occasions they could have enshrined it as law but, like the late RBG, they didn't move when they could have presumably also for "reasons". Though there *are* plenty of genuine examples but they are typically not "third-rail" issues (though many of them should be in my book but there you go.) Point is, there *is* an ongoing conversation in the US. My point is that many external commenters just seem to be pouting that a foreign country doesn't have the beliefs and values they would like them to have and are usually almost totally ignorant of the facts, the politics, the arguments (that have been ground out again and again), the nuances, the laws currently in place, the lack of enforcement, in many cases, of said laws and, for this particular issue, almost anything factual about the devices in question. I would *welcome* a widespread review of gun laws in the US. The overwhelming majority of them would be thrown out as ineffectual if nothing else.

Ok whatever.... you mentioned "popular will of the people"/"representative democracy. " If that was truly the case, that last clown elected in 2016 would not have happened. .....

The USA is a gun toting culture. Always has been, always will be. So get used to mass shootings. (I'd venture to guess most Americans have at this point) They are not going away. Debating gun laws in the USA is like debating religion. Just like the thoughts and prayers the victims get, it's totally fruitless and useless. Sad but true.

Common sense gun laws aren't authoritarian restrictions. Common sense gun laws should be viewed the same as a drivers license or medical license... I didn't realize having your kids shot at school was "the popular will of the people" I'm just happy to live in a sane country.

Amen I don't know any other country that exposes their kids to "active-shooter drills" and defends the weapons used to assault their kids. But as you say it's like debating religion which isn't that strange with a Supreme Court that is pushing theocracy.

@JJG : just to be sure, what's a low coiner ? Dear bitcoin please stay in 20s for 4-5 days more. I want to top-up on my next salary.
Yes, #metoo. Buy some and add some more steps to my ladder. I try not to be too judgmental in terms of people making choices for themselves and even assessing their own personal finances to figure out how much to get into BTC ad to figure out their target BTC allocation level. The best that I feel that I can do is to attempt to give some guidelines, such as: 1) get the fuck off zero or 2) consider a beginner level allocation into bitcoin to be anywhere between 1% and 25% depending on your assessment of the matter and how aggressive that you want to be 3) consider beginning with figuring out your various finances and psychology and starting with something like $100 per week investing into BTC, but of coursed, if you live in a location in which you only earn less than $2k per month, then you might not be able to afford $100 per week, and maybe $10 per week or less will have to do. You gotta be careful in terms of not overinvesting after considering your own cashflow, which includes considering your expenses and having an emergency fund. A low coiner is someone who is way underinvested into BTC based on his own various circumstances and could be anyone who accounts for the 3 above categories, but still underinvests. .even though able to invest way more based on his own circumstances.. .so it is difficult to categorize exactly what is a low coiner but just that s/he fits into a category of way underinvested, and not just merely whimpy but really whimpy.. overly whmpy. I thought you meant an absolute value (0.1BTC or 1 BTC or X BTC) but I guess as an overall investment it makes more sense, and also means I'm more of a BTCer than someone with 10 times more BTC, but many millions in the bank. I need to find that 100K$ job though, anyone with US citizenship wants to marry me ?
