Ironically this is the bitter truth.

People see an entry point when the market is all bullish and price is high than, when the market is bearish and the price is low.

Being scared of losing money to a bearish trend makes them wait on the sideline and forget a little patience in holding is all it takes to make the most.

Funny enough, these are the same people that feel bitcoin has gone too high in price for a common man to invest #Sentiments.

In the end, all you could have said is, fvck it! Buy and hold!!!

Well.. the lump sum buying and just waiting can work, but it tends to make people nervous..

that is why lump sum might be better if it is supplemented with DCA and maybe even buying on dip.. a problem with buying on dip is that people will sometimes get frustrated that it keeps dipping, so therefore just DCA might be a better supplement and or just an ongoing practice that is even better than a lump sum.. that might be too much all at once.. DCA tends to be amongst the best.. whether $100 per week, $10 per week or some other reasonable (and hopefully sufficiently aggressive amount - depending on personal circumstances).

SAD How many people suffered and are suffering because of the most primitive/weak and manageable feeling called Greed and Ego....
The influence of money is that make a man misbehave 😂

Some of the things we learnt in school were opposite of what we faced in reality.
All the calculus and integration were solved could not help us to solve our daily problems.
Those who are graduating from school are meant to face the reality of the labour market 😂

Well sometimes we also will not know what we do not know, and if I say that it is good to learn critical thinking skills, then some people still might think that they got "critical thinking" skills figured out, but they are still not very capable to figure out good sources of information from bad sources.  It can take a decently long time to actually learn decent critical thinking skills.. and over the years, I am so surprised about so many things that I just took for granted in my earlier times and even realizing that some times our framework in which we see the world can really limit us.. and we do not really become immuned from it, even if we are older and we have seen a lot of tricks played on us.. we can still get tricked.. and sometimes it is o.k... nothing wrong with some innocent misconceptions about santa clause or the eater bunny.. but sometimes we might not realize  that certain societal structural set ups are optional, and they are not necessarily bad, even they might be due for changing or tweaking.  Perhaps?

Even as Russian troops were massing on Ukraine’s borders in January, Sanna Marin, Finland’s prime minister, insisted that it was “very unlikely” her country would join NATO during her time in office. Less than three months and one invasion later, Finland is hurtling towards membership.

Russia will not tolerate hostile US colonies at its borders. Ukraine is the example what will happen to every US vassal that is a threat to Russia. Finland was a very successful country when it was neutral. Now they will be just the next Ukraine... Russia has the right to defend itself and they will do it without any doubt. Russia is leading the world to new more democratic order. This is the end of the US hegemony.

Of course, we are in a dollar/BTC thread, and I am not going to deny that the US has being bullies with the dollar system recently in ways that show desperation, but still the dollar does seem to be amongst the strongest of the fiats currently... even though in recent times the Ruble has been doing pretty well too.. and sure commodities and even actual goods and services are important.. not just the ability of the USG to print money and pay for things...

In 2013, when I first got into bitcoin, I thought that it would be at least 30 years for the downfall of the dollar - but a lot of recent events show that it could downfall much quicker.. but still, we could not really expect the dollar dominance to collapse in less than 10 years can we?

Aren't the other fiats going to fail first?

Which fiats are going to be the last standing?  Bitcoin will be standing too, right?

What does the world look like from a becoin perspective in 5 years?  10 years?  20 years?   what are the various monies at that time?  Does the dollar, ruble and maybe the china yuan still exist?  Euro or something else?  We're not going back to barter are we?

Life of a crypto enthusiast  Grin !

Are you in the right thread?

I believe that we do not have any "crypto enthusiasts" here, except maybe one or two (should I name them?.. one of them begs for dee bitcoins while saying that dee bitcoins are not be wurt nuttin... hahahahaha)... ..

Anyway, there are likely a considerable number of us that don't even know what the fuck a "crypto enthusiast" is, so in that regard, it would be hard to know if we were to know what we were looking at, if we were to happen to see such a amorphous thingie. ..

It surely does seem like a "crypto enthusiast" would be a slappable thing, if any of us were to happen to come across seeing one.. first thing would be to slap first (or maybe the pipe treatment?), and then ask questions later.

Did you just use Russia and Democratic in one sentence?
And referring to a Ukrainian invasion as "defense" is insane...

New more democratic order.... you mean absolute dictatorship ....

becoin does not really like western ideas.. and he is not totally wrong.. but he comes at matters a bit hard-balledly stubborn and frequently with quite a few absolutes contained therein... which makes it is wee bit tougher to get any back and forth with that there cat... I.e... he likely never did read the book "fifty shades of grey" not that it is any kind of recommendable, anyhow... I haven't read it either.. so maybe going by the title is not a good thing for me to attempt with out sounding like an SJW.. and would not want to be one of those, right?.. not as a bitcoiner, anyhow.. hahahahaha.. not that there should be any "proper" bitcoiner anyway.

So if I get it right, they use the highest and lowest point of each cycle in order to compare the cycles.
But only this cycle they don't use the lowest point (which was 17592$ on Stamp), but a higher price point ?

For me that doesn't make any sense as a comparison.  Could someone explain to stupid me?

The decline percentage we had was (ballpark figures):

Bitstamp 69000 -> 17592   74.5% decline

Coinmarketcap 69044 -> 17760.   74.3% decline

NOT 69.34%

Is that fud aka we will probably go to a new cycle low from here?

side note:

Glassnode may have some interesting data, but I feel well over 50% of the conclusions they stimulate are false.

Do you remember, when in the last 2 years guys like Willy Woo used onchain tools and failed with their cycle and price predictions almost every time ?

Again onchain shows some intersting stuff, but it can also be easily used by manipulators to mislead the masses.

I don't trust like that!TM

I've always lump-sum-bought and HoDLed. Except that the lump sums were coming every few months from 2015 onwards. Is that called DCA? I never really looked at the price, fiat never stayed in my hands or the exchange for more than a few days. Market buys only. Has worked out well for me. Average break-even price is under $2k.

I guess I got lucky, going in at the deep dip of 2015. Thank you, Andreas Antonopoulos, that talk of yours that I watched was so enlightening that I did not sleep that night. I had to find a way to buy. And I did. At a local Bitcoin ATM. Great times.

tl;dr: There is no top. Seriously. Buy now. Buy Bitcoin. HoDL.

Invading sovereign countries isn't defense. It isn't when others do it, it isn't when Russia does it. And of course, there is no right to invade other countries...

As for the US hegemony, this war is rather helping the US, so far.

re your point...some people tend to ignore intraday's highs/lows and go with an official "close" (whatever this means for bitcoin).
The highest close afaik was $67566 or thereabout. If we calculate based on this, then the decline was 73.96%.
I agree that it was not below 70%, that's for sure.

Just wanted a clarification since there was an actual attack on the Whitehouse on 5/29/2020. The media doesn't talk about that quite as much though.

Are you still buying BTC right now? Your average is under $2k which means the number of BTC in your portfolio is significant. Buying from 2015 and average buy is under $2k that means you didn't face the last bear market bottom too. You did an awesome job that most investors.

We're not going back to barter are we?

I believe current theory is that barter was never really much of a thing and that some kind of fungible unit of account comes into play pretty much immediately. Though surely there's no way to know for sure.
