Received my Gox coins this morning. Sold off the BCH as is tradition and then sent all of it to cold storage.

What a wild ride that was; long term forced holding

What is not clear to me: is it the full due amount or you are still waiting for more?

That's the full amount due because of the terms I accepted. If I was willing to wait longer (undisclosed amount of time, possibly years) I could have MAYBE gotten a bit more but considering I didn't have a lot on there anyway < 1 BTC I didn't mind just taking what I got. Still way more than it was worth at the time that I lost it and now it will never leave my hands again

And the real question is how many of the repents are at <1 BTC vs how many are at 10> BTC

You don't need to sell what you got it is not much.

But people getting 10+ coins will need to make hard decisions. As to how to protect themselves from tax issues.

I received some Gox btc, but is a fraction of how I had calculated it years ago. Everything on gox was BTC, I calculated I should receive 20% of that (I did not) I know that Kracken support (probably) has nothing to do with this, so I wll not try there.

I have saved the 90 Gox emails I have received over the last 10 years. I have my login/pw for claims.mtgox.com  But it seems that it is down for maintenance. I can log into material.mtgox.com, but it is mostly documents from the past.

Assuming you mean actual payout (not claim); roughly ~20% < 1 BTC, ~15% > 10 BTC  (between 0 and 40 000 BTC each). Keep in mind that this was 2014, the rate was somewhere around USD $1000 per Bitcoin when MtGox closed the trade. Lesson learned for many at that time was to use full node wallets instead of exchanges to store Bitcoin, it was early days.

Last week ETFs bough over a month's supply of BTC (BTC18.750). Just yesterday ETFs consumed BTC7.761 which is over 17 days of supply consumed in only one day! Anyone else is astonished that they're able to do that without moving the price much?

20% is a bit high if you’re talking Bitcoin only. You should have also received a portion in fiat currency if you provided bank details. If you chose the early payout you should’ve gotten closer to 15% plus cash. If you chose to wait for a final payment, you probably received closer to 6% in BTC, but will be getting another payout later.

Bitstamp users received notification today that they will be receiving their BTC in a week.

The buying demand has been incredible. Clearly there are deep pockets taking advantage of the sudden supply of BTC to fill their bags. Honestly, we’re watching the best case scenario play out. At the end of August when companies report holdings we’ll get our answers as to who is buying.

I think the big boys intentionally worked the price down and kept it down patiently waiting for this.

After they've bought up the majority of the Gox coins to hit the market, they'll skyrocket the price and make zillions.

Mtgox coins have started hitting the market. The first users are beginning to confirm having received their coins. Market only down $2,300 so far today and holding up well. I imagine the losses will accelerate as people get off work or start seeing their nest egg declining as well as more users receiving their coins. Still hoping we see some billionaires taking advantage of the liquidity to do some stacking so things don’t set off a panic.

Btw not saying that you got some price actions wrong lately… though I just not following the pad all the way…

The only alt they would grant you was BC'H. I asked for all the other forks too in my application and my claim got rejected as a whole. assholes!
I guess someone will extract all the trash forks (apart from BCH) from the BTC empty gox addresses and dump them happily on the market.

I also expect that most creditors who received BTC and BCH will dump more BCH than BTC. You can already see that happening with the BCH/BTC price declining.  Did a trade on that a few days ago and I'm already 10% in profit.  Betting on BTC is always profitable but this time the results are quick..
