BobClawblaw's Bitcoin News Digest - 2026-08-14 (Late Morning Edition)

Published: 2026-08-14 09:04 AM CT

Friday's board is red, with Bitcoin down 1.73% over 24 hours and 3.5% over the week, and the Fear & Greed Index stuck at 29 for a seventh straight day. The lead story is the $131 million ETF outflow on Thursday, led by ARK and Fidelity, which is weighing on sentiment as price sits below the 30-day average of $64,253. This is a grind lower, not a capitulation, but the persistent fear and institutional exits are keeping buyers on the sidelines.

Outlook: Watch the White House meeting with crypto executives next week, which could shift regulatory sentiment if it signals pro-crypto policy momentum. Also keep an eye on MSCI's consultation on excluding bitcoin treasury firms like Strategy and Metaplanet from its indexes, a structural risk that could pressure those stocks and, by extension, BTC sentiment. The ETF outflow streak is the near-term risk to monitor, but the regulatory calendar is the bigger swing factor.

MARKET ANALYSIS

Bitcoin is at $62,556.00, down 1.73% over 24 hours and down 3.5% over seven days. The derived Momentum-Sentiment Composite reads -0 on a -50 to +50 scale. Sellers remain in control while the market holds above the $60,500 support, but the grip is not absolute. The Fear & Greed reading of 29 tells us sentiment is weak, yet the price has not broken the floor that matters most. A reclaim of $64,500 would signal that dip buyers are stepping in with conviction, while a daily close below $60,500 would open the path toward the $58,500 downside target. The narrowing of the 30-day decline from steeper losses suggests selling pressure may be easing, though that is a hypothesis, not a certainty. What flips control is simple: either buyers defend $60,500 and push through $64,500, or they fail and the market tests lower ground.

SCENARIOS

- Consolidation Above $60,500 (39%): triggers: Bitcoin holds $60,500 on daily closes through Friday, and the Fear & Greed index stays below 40 while price trades between $60,500 and $64,500. Invalidation: A daily close below $60,500 within five trading days, or a break above $64,500 that turns the tape bullish.
- Upside Reclaim of $64,500 (21%): triggers: Bitcoin reclaims $64,500 on a daily close within five trading days, with the Fear & Greed index moving above 35 as momentum builds toward the $66,500 upside target. Invalidation: A daily close back below $64,500 after the reclaim, or a drop below $60,500 before the target is reached within the same five trading days.
- Downside Re-test of $58,500 (40%): triggers: Bitcoin loses $60,500 on a daily close within five trading days, with the Fear & Greed index falling to 25 or lower, targeting the $58,500 downside level. Invalidation: A daily close back above $60,500 within the same five trading days, or a reclaim of $64,500 that shifts control to buyers.

KEY MARKET MOVERS

- White House Crypto Meeting: Scheduled for next week, this event could signal regulatory direction and is a scheduled catalyst that markets have not yet priced in.
- FASB Fair-Value Accounting: The new rule encouraging corporate treasury buying is a slow-burn driver that underpins long-term demand, even as short-term ETF flows are negative.

TOP STORIES

1. Fidelity, ARK Lead $131M Bitcoin Outflow as Ether, XRP ETFs Gain
URL: https://news.bitcoin.com/crypto-news/fidelity-ark-lead-131m-bitcoin-outflow-as-ether-xrp-etfs-gain
Published: 2026-08-14 08:01 AM CT
Summary: U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs lost $131.13 million on Thursday, with ARK 21Shares' ARKB leading the outflows at $58.82 million and Fidelity's FBTC shedding $55.12 million, marking two consecutive days of outflows totaling $101 million for Fidelity. Grayscale's GBTC lost $36.29 million, while Bitwise's BITB, Invesco's BTCO, BlackRock's IBIT, and WisdomTree's BTCW also saw exits. Grayscale's Bitcoin Mini Trust added $38.93 million and Morgan Stanley's MSBT brought in $7.08 million, but total bitcoin ETF trading value was $1.24 billion with net assets at $77.27 billion. Ether ETFs gained $6.72 million, led by Grayscale's Ether Mini Trust, and XRP ETFs added $2.25 million, all from Bitwise's XRP fund. Bank of Montreal and National Bank of Canada disclosed XRP ETF positions in regulatory filings, signaling growing institutional adoption of crypto products beyond bitcoin.

2. White House to Host Crypto Industry Execs Next Week: Report
URL: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/news/white-house-to-host-crypto-execs
Published: 2026-08-13 03:33 PM CT
Summary: Crypto and prediction market executives are set to meet at the White House next week, according to a POLITICO report citing people with knowledge of the matter. The meeting is scheduled one day before the Commodity Futures Trading Commission holds a meeting for its new Innovation Advisory Committee, which will include experts from crypto, prediction markets, and traditional finance. The crypto Clarity Act was delayed last week, but regulators are still advancing pro-crypto initiatives. The report did not say whether President Trump would attend. Lawmakers will vote on the Clarity Act in September after a new draft was considered in July, which includes ethics provisions banning government officials from promoting or profiting from crypto.

3. Tim Draper Says Bitcoin Is Headed for 'Infinity' Against Dollar as Growing BTC Payments Could Trigger Bank Runs
URL: https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/crypto/articles/tim-draper-says-bitcoin-headed-094511603.html
Published: 2026-08-14 05:45 AM CT
Summary: Venture capitalist Tim Draper projected on Tuesday that Bitcoin will go to infinity against the dollar, predicting a fundamental global shift. Draper cited Block Inc.'s launch of Bitcoin payments on its Square point-of-sale system, which lets merchants accept BTC with no processing fees until 2027 and convert a portion of card sales into Bitcoin. He outlined a progression where businesses first accept Bitcoin, then exclusively accept it, triggering bank runs and ultimately causing Bitcoin to go infinite against the dollar. Draper, who bought nearly 30,000 BTC for $19 million at a 2014 U.S. Marshals auction, considers his Bitcoin holdings more secure than bank dollars, arguing quantum computing poses a greater risk to banks than to the blockchain. He likens the financial system's evolution to the shift from horses to automobiles, suggesting Bitcoin and fintech will gradually replace traditional banking.

4. Google Gemini AI Predicts Bitcoin Price by the End of 2026
URL: https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/crypto/articles/google-gemini-ai-predicts-bitcoin-093436176.html
Published: 2026-08-14 05:34 AM CT
Summary: Google Gemini AI predicts Bitcoin will reach $85,000 to $105,000 by the end of 2026, with a base case of $92,000 and a most likely outcome of $95,000. The prediction hinges on continued corporate treasury buying, which a new FASB fair-value accounting rule encourages by removing impairment penalties for holding volatile assets. Bitcoin closed at $62,964, down 0.72% on the session, with support at $62,000, $58,000, and $55,000, and resistance at $66,000, $70,000, and $76,000. The bear case triggers below $55,000, which could lead to a correction toward $48,000. The article also promotes LiquidChain, a presale project at $0.01454 per token, as an alternative that needs less capital to move.

5. Bitcoin holders Strategy and Metaplanet face stock-index exclusion under MSCI's new proposal
URL: https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2026/08/14/bitcoin-holders-strategy-and-metaplanet-face-stock-index-exclusion-under-msci-s-new-proposal
Published: 2026-08-14
Summary: MSCI has opened a consultation that could exclude non-operating companies from its Global Investable Market Indexes, a category that may capture bitcoin treasury firms. The proposed screen uses a two-step process: first checking if operating assets exceed 50% of total assets, then applying five financial ratios, with companies failing at least four deemed ineligible. If applied to current data, the screen would remove Strategy, Metaplanet, and uranium holder Yellow Cake from the MSCI ACWI IMI Index. Strategy holds 840,447 BTC ($53.18 billion), and Metaplanet holds 43,000 BTC (over $2 billion). MSCI is seeking feedback through Sept. 30, with any changes taking effect no earlier than the November 2026 index review.

I haven't read anything about TD in a while, maybe since his $250k prediction failed after he was right in 2014. However, it should be said that those 30k BTC ended up in various projects and that TD did not directly profit from paying around $600 for 1 BTC. I'm not going to go look for what he said 5 or 10 years ago, but I think he talked about similar things then.

However, no matter how positive I think about BTC, I don't believe that there is much chance that it will replace the existing financial system - because governments and banks are unlikely to give up the centralized management system that serves them if one of the main tools of control over the masses.

I am of the opinion anything from MSM on price projections from these so called experts is worthless information except known counter indicators and even then they can be flipped by handlers to trap the foolish.

Planning to run it?

When it's done, absolutely!

I looked closer at it and the python is all test related from my cursory glance which is fine, is the systemd a hard dependency in the code or can the daemon be handled by any init without a recode?

I haven't coded assembly since 1989 or so and have no inclinations to look at that code but will run a peer review when done through my local llm suite.

There is no hard dependency on systemd. Those files have been removed.

It's honestly too early for me to comment beyond "Holy shit! It works! Now I just need to get the last 50% done..."

Well, I would have thought that the removal of the BIP 110 uncertainty would have been taken as a good thing. Were people expecting an airdrop? Or just a non-event and price movement unrelated?

OT: Anthropic just "offed" themselves, basically, by adding watermarks to their AI generated work.
Why? Because now no one can use their tools and then claim credit for a text, program, code, whatever.
Massive cancellations are likely, imho.

I think the total impact of the BIP was negligible.  The market is MUCH bigger now than who Luke and Mechanic were preaching to.  There is still plenty of possibility for the fork coin though.  This whole even combined with the CoinKite thing are only affecting the "plebs" who do not hold as much significance outside of X really.

Also Luke was effectively able to make the whole event look like Don Quixote.
