I do think it's kind of abusive to teach children they or their familiy/friends/acquaintances will suffer an eternity in hellfire unless they follow the one true religion in the one true sect. It's also kind of abusive to teach them that Satan is on this world and responsible for all evil. This will make them more prone to superstition and manipulation and less conducive to reason.

Btw, I won't moderate this thread since it's the "quarantine" section of this forum, plus, adam has the authority to delete anything since it is self-moderated. Just in case anyone is unaware.

BitchicksHusband might even chime in but he is speaking at a Christian youth camp this week.
We live in a world where people can openly brag about child abuse with no expectation of being called out on it.

Nice to see her bat shit crazy husband is poisoning the mind of children so they can become bat shit crazy like him.

Religion and children. Such a good combination.

OK.  So what have you done lately to encourage the younger generation to love themselves and love others and to make a positive difference in the world?

And what makes you think that God is even slightly OK with all of that!?  Of course He isn't but I know someone who totally is: the same "father of lies" that tries to steal, kill and destroy us all.  We all have choices to make each day. It doesn't matter if you are high up "priest" or "religious" leader.  We choose to love others or not too.  The only real religion God cares about is the one that loves others and does what is right.  All of the abusers, that don't repent, will suffer the most!

the difference between you and most of us here is that we also have morals and values, but you give the credit to your religion and we give credit to humanity, you use what a book says and we use logic and common sense.....

I am sure that there are many people on here with great morals and values and many are doing some amazing things and are in general "good" people.  I called out Shroomskit, perhaps out of being a bit slighted so I am not sure if my motives are 100% pure, but it seems that He is on the attack for some reason.   But that said, none of us are completely "good."  I think most people, and most "religions" have an idea that is they are just good and decent people they will somehow make the afterlife.  But where is the line?  What is "good enough?"  The reality is that we are all "f'd up" Wink  Thankfully there is hope for us all in that God chose to provide a way for us if we so choose.

Is it abuse to tell kids that they have great value regardless of what others say?
Teaching children about Hell is common assault, because it causes a credible fear of injury. Children don't have the capability to distinguish between imaginary threats and credible ones, especially when the threats come from their primary caretakers.

Using threats of Hell to obtain obedience is extortion.

Teaching children about Heaven in order to obtain obedience from them is fraud.

Most Christians also hit their children, which is battery or aggravated assault, depending on the circumstances.

I think all religions can take things to the extreme.  I have seen manipulation and guilt used so I agree in that.  But I do think that our society is "starving" our people by now avoiding teaching religion/Christianity at all.  Most people are Biblical illiterate.  They think they know what is in there but they never read it for themselves.  I think we should all study all religions.  We need to be knowledgeable about this instead of blindly just following whatever feels good to us for the moment.

Damn, this thread took a turn for the worst. Everyone take a step back for a second and take a deep breath.  Roll Eyes

Can we please, pretty please, stop talking about religion, no one is going to swayed by anyone's arguments here.

EDIT: That was the last time we will ever see sub $600 coins. Everyone be sure to wave goodbye on our way up.

Teaching any child about religion before the age of 16-18 (kind of arbitrary) is indoctrination and as such child abuse. The kid might never be able to recover as even otherwise intelligent people are often religious.
I would love to comment but I have been told to "shut up." Lips sealed

Do you know how hard that is to do?  I am a woman.   Grin

so you are telling me that you studied all religions and your search ended with the conclusion of Christianity being the answer to all mysteries of the universe ? well you know, I was born a Muslim so I didn't have a choice, but I live my life in the way the common sense and logic guides me, although there is some interesting aspects of life in all religions that we can learn, the whole point of a religion was to govern people when it was hard to maintain borders and when it was hard to keep things settled and organized....

god is the universe
we are a part of him, but he is oblivious to our existence.
will humanity ever find out what our purpose is, and one day travel the stars doing our small part?

chances are slim.

I would love to answer but it will have to be a PM at this point because everyone seems to be getting a bit annoyed.  Wow.  Who would have thought that religion was more annoying than all the trolls combined!?  Interesting. Wink

Most religions teaches you to be good, to help others,... but unfortunately most of churches - institutions are hardcore capitalist and scumbags.

Bravo! You trolled the trolls. I'm not one to agree with your religious views, but at least you were civil. Can't say the same for the "humanity inspired moral loving" people who attacked you.

Bye Bye sub $600 coins, it was nice knowing you.

religion is a touchy subject for alot of people

which is why i think its a fun topic, mostly i end up preaching my existentialist deterministic view of the world.

When you next consult and swap notes with the big man, could you ask him to hurry this next parabolic move up in BTC? that would be great... there are a few other things I could do with help with, and seeing as you have a direct line I thought I would cc you in on my list... "hung over" being top of the list...thanks.  Cheesy Cheesy

Didn't God tell her girlfriend 2 weeks ago to buy some coins?

I wonder how balanced the person is who called Bitchick balanced a few pages ago.
She is lucky it's called religion otherwise she would be forced to get mental treatment.
