Smells like a big pile of steaming bullshit to me Could be. There was an earlier announcement which said that Kraken would take over MtGOX and pay customers in bitcoin. This one is more limited and cautious, but it is still not clear what is certain and what is merely a wish of Kraken and/or the clients, that the trustee may concede or not. In particular, the statement that clients will be required to open an account at Kraken in order to receive the refunds seems to be just a wish...

I'm baffled why'd they even want to get involved in the mtgox bankruptcy though... Seems like way more trouble than it is worth.

Kraken is one of (if not THE) best exchanges out there with extraordinary tech support and response. I'd surely wish this is 100% real but I think I'll wait and see what happens until an official announcement from the Japanese authority is out.

... They can take our FREEDOM, but they'll never take our BITCOIN!
Yeah, That's what D read Pirate Ross used to say. And now his Bitcoin is tanking the market. Unfortunate Unfortunate indeed to think that if Mr Roberts had simply employed better control and protection of his private keys, his bitcoins would still remain under his control... Worst case at least he would have some leverage.. maybe even enough to get the "big bank treatment" and only have to pay a multi million dollar fine, just like all the other crooks that are part of the club... FBI couldve just administered some meds and got him to reveal everything. Not sure what steps you can take to prevent such a thing from happening. Any ideas people? Isn't there another wallet with 100k+ that they haven't gotten hold of yet??

Wow. I Just got home to see we had a little dip.
No big deal. It's still well above where we started the previous day. Minor corrections can be expected during rallies.
I'll bet the foolish little bears had their usual picnic though. Lambchop whipped up to a lather like a toddler on Xmas morning? LOL So predictable.
I guess I should go back and read through her childish crap to get a few chuckles.
Bitcoincharts (Stamp) still down? Too bad. I like their simple elegance, just as I like Chartbuddy. Obviously Stamp has some serious API issues. Too bad.

There is no money or BTC to make good on the other 600'000 BTC that disappeared.

Isn't there another [Ross Ulbrich ] wallet with 100k+ that they haven't gotten hold of yet??
I doubt it. The FBI etc had hacked into his computers before the raid, and can follow trails on the blockchain.

I doubt it. The FBI etc had hacked into his computers before the raid, and can follow trails on the blockchain. Depends if he has any of his coins in another wallet that he hasn't touched in a long time or not. One could easily setup a HD seed with a few hundred addresses and have x percent of whole transactions go to that pre-populated list of addresses. Keep only the seed remembered and don't touch it in a very long time, and it'd still be safe.

Not necessarily. There are still pagecount whales with sufficient dumping power to put it right back again. what do you think now : the price will raised or dropped ?
More of the same: But with an upward tendency.

Shut the fuck up moron they never hacked into his computers, and whether or not they can follow them on the blockchain is irrelevant. By that measure i could just steal tim drapers coins. I'm pretty sure there is 100k+ that they suspect is his and didn't get the private keys to. I'll find the source

Personally I think it's great that there will be an actual investigation. When Powell said: "We’ve decided to volunteer our resources and expertise in an attempt to minimize damage to creditors, restore faith in the Bitcoin community, and demonstrate trusted leadership in the industry,", that explains it all. We all know getting new customers is something Kraken needs. And that's what they hope to get from this move. But, hey. At least they're doing something useful for it

Oh look. A big dump half a hour ago. Someone saw the price slowly going up again and totally freaked out that his coins were becoming worth more so he quickly dumped them and made sure the uptrend would be stopped.
