Buffett is a dinosaur, he's too old to appreciate a new way of money.

Buffett is extremely wealthy because he is extremely good at what he does. And one of the main reasons is because he knows what he understands and stays away from what he doesn't understand. Just look at how he has spoken about Google. He sees that they have shot up over the last decade and a bit but he still won't invest in it because he doesn't see how they will make money in five years time. That kind of thinking will make you a lot of money. But he is an investor. And those who make money in Bitcoin are speculators. Bitcoin is a gamble. Some of us might think we have figured it out, but in the end it's a gamble.

It shows OkCoin is the top volume exchange today, probably because the Chinese don't do Christmas. On new years day it will probably be a low volume exchange.

Chinese new year is a whole week of bank holidays later in January.  The last one indeed resulted in very low volume (and low volatility) in all Chinese exchanges.

Do you both know Chinese New Year is Thursday, February 19 for 2015.

Thanks for the correction. It moves a lot from year to year.

According to this wikipedia page the Chinese have a holiday on January 1 called New Year. Later in January they have another holiday starting on the 1st day of 1st lunar month called Chinese New Year, it lasts about a week around Feb 19.

I wouldn't mind being a dinosaur with his all his dollars to spend before going extinct.  But, alas, ...

Alas indeed, however dinosaur thinking doesn't always lead to large amount of wealth...but you can think alike for free.

So what USD Value do you think a Bitcoin would be cheap ?

I know this is going to piss a lot of people off but I will regard Bitcoin to be 'cheap' when it hits about $20 a coin, of course it will still be cheap at $10 but that's irrelevant.

It will continue to work regardless of what the price is.

I know the relentless greed around here will not agree with the above, the world still needs dreamers though.

You are the one dreaming. 500 million dollars has been invested in bitcoin companies this year and you value the entire market cap at 140 million dollars. Ha!

Bears..or well beartrolls atleast seem to believe in spreading fear, Bulls get caught up on Hopium of paradigm shifts overnight during bull runs, we all have our shortcomings.

However your logic is solid regarding fundamental investment and why I think the bears are just spewing there end of the hopium spectrum at us constantly...as the bulls once did with trains and choo'n

True. But podyx was a reasonable poster earlier this year. I think he is now trading with leverage. I hope he keeps at least a portion of his coins in cold storage!

http://www.businessinsider.com/warren-buffett-money-tips-for-2015-2014-12

[ Warren Buffett: ]  “Stay away from it. It’s a mirage, basically. … It’s a method of transmitting money. It’s a very effective way of transmitting money and you can do it anonymously and all that. A check is a way of transmitting money, too. Are checks worth a whole lot of money just because they can transmit money? Are money orders? You can transmit money by money orders. People do it. I hope Bitcoin becomes a better way of doing it, but you can replicate it a bunch of different ways and it will be. The idea that it has some huge intrinsic value is just a joke in my view.”

Read more: http://www.gobankingrates.com/personal-finance/6-things-warren-buffett-says-should-money-2015/#ixzz3MwXTOAlW

I don't know how Warren can identify one of the many reason bitcoin has value in the banking industry particularly and think it has no value loooool

Perhaps because he figured out one key fact (in purple) right away, that bitcoiners have closed their minds to?

LoL thanks Jorge for pointing out the option of alts to us. You and Warren must be on some similar wavelength of dinosaur, hope you don't end up extinct.

I wouldn't mind being a dinosaur with his all his dollars to spend before going extinct.  But, alas, ...

Yeah, he's done pretty well for a dinosaur, financially...

As your Beneficent Reptilian Overlords, we'd like to take this moment to point out that
"...although the word dinosaur means "terrible lizard", the name is somewhat misleading, as ...oh my, you smell delicious!"--wikip

I think it's largely undervalued which is also the reason I'm cautious.
Just because alot of money goes into bitcoin doesn't mean it's failproof. Much of the money invested is so because of hope of bitcoin reaching bigger infrastructure and a wider userbase. A bigger infrastructure will bring a wider userbase and vice versa. I guess what I'm saying is that bitcoin NEEDS to have constant money flowing in (I'm not gonna say that ain't happening just because the price is going down) but that won't neccessarely mean it will succeed. You shouldn't be too bullish about large players getting into this space because it's very much expected when a revolutionary technology like this comes along, because it IS that.
Will more people grasp that fact? Maybe, maybe not. I think they will, eventually. I'm very confident of it but i'm not ignorant to the fact that it might not happen.

BTW I probably should add that the reason I'm cautious is because I believe I am over-invested, or atleast slightly so.

Nope, learn about history; Mark Karpeles pumped every 10x pump of bitcoin Smiley He is gone now and you have all year seen the effect of it. Enjoy your cheap coins and dreams of becoming a millionaire by sitting on your ass. I will tell you a bit about the future price of bitcoin, if it stays over $100 it will be a miracle (in 2015). Mark Karpeles is gone and also most of the deepweb sites which was the only true incentive to purchase bitcoin.. so do the math (hint: no demand at all, except traders (btw, the whales you guys talk about is pretty much the exchange operators)).
