GAS has nothing to do with ETH price, if ETH price goes to $1000, ussually i only spend around 0.002-0.003 ETH for each my transaction when i want to send my tokens into exchange sites or wallet. It's only small amount i think and if you don't want to use GAS because of ETH price too high, don't join or invest in any new coin. That's simple as that.

Interesting reading the comments in this thread, both from 2 months ago and also those that are more recent.

An interesting theme that I picked up on is most people feel that 1: Ethereum can't do this because that would mean Bitcoin would need to be worth x price. And probably more dominate 2: Ethereum can't do this because that would mean it's marktetcap would be worth more than Bitcoin.

What I find amusing is that a lot of people feel there is like some unbreakable law somewhere that an "Alt Coin" cannot possibly overtake Bitcoin, ever! Also, the false assumption that only one coin can rise, or more precisely if one were to rise too much that would be Bitcoin would need to fall like there is some finite amount of money in cryptocurrency or something.

My thoughts are that yes, Ethereum can very well be worth $1000 each, and it may even happen this year yet. Bitcoin also may remain top dog and be worth $10,000 each, or to the horror of many, maybe it will only be $3,000 and second place to Ethereum's market cap.

As the final chuckle, the recent comment even with Ethereum recently seeing $200 in that "oh no, to reach $1000 that would mean it would need to be 5x what it is worth now". Do you people not keep abreast of what is happening. Not too long ago (5-6 months) Ethereum was trading at under $7 and it recently spiked close to $210 meaning it has seen a 30x rise in just the last 6 months, so tell me why is that extra 5x rise this year so impossible again?

Some people believe that there HAS to be a relation between ETH and BTC price and that ETH can never overtake BTC in terms of price or market cap. I'd like to ask them: tell me why. I'd like to have this debate.

ETH deserves to be there as it is the strongest competitor which has already beaten LTC and other alts in terms of technological reviews as well as security parts, and there should be no doubt for Ethereum to cross 0.5 btc some day as it already proved that it's a giant by going $200 in least time.

It's caused by the ICO based on the etehreum platform. A lot of whales try to take his chance to flip his money through ico and pay an irrational number of gas for the miners. They spent over thousands dollars just for paying the gas. You must do a research before try to make a statement.

$1000 is very likely especially the market is irrational right now.

As i know,  miners can increase or decrease amount of gas by how thing are looking on the overall network. If ETH price increase, gas  wouldn't require to change its price.

There's a possibility that ethereum breaks the $1000 but not now, maybe it's a long road to ethereum before they breaks the $1000. However, were not stop believing that there's a chance for ethereum to break it.

At the same time, since it's a protocol level, maybe people won't nkow about it too much, the average person has no idea how the internet works, they just know it works.

6 to 12 months is an eternity in crypto and if the past couple of months are any indication of future trends it will probably reach that level much faster than you think.

Ethereum classic is built on the same platform and suffered hard fork after which ethereum appeared as the truer branch. I think eth had some code improvements, it is more stable and secured than its predecessor which makes it a better coin. Maybe another fork awaits in the future and then eth will be like etc.. If this doesn't happen, I believe ethereum can reach one thousand in a few years.

My end of year goal for Ethereum about two weeks ago was $500. That seems laughable now as we are sitting at $350. I could see it passing $1000 by the end of this year, maybe hitting $2000 next year. I'm not totally convinced it will hit $1000 this year, I mean I figure this crazy bull run of the past 6 or 7 weeks has got to slow down soon. But I feel like at least $700 Ethereum is guaranteed for this year as it would just have to double from here, so $1000 would not surprise me.

but ethereum will change system as POS. the time you will not need to pay too much gas price.

I twill reach 1000$ but not by some days may be year it will take and also there is lots of hacks happening on Ethereum platform like Coindash and Coinbase its really not good for ethereum growth.
