Mandatory software upgrade schedule for this Friday ~14:00 EDT (18::00 UTC) at block 139,200Here's the blog post, but updates include: - Bug fixes on P2SH multisig addresses to make them compatible with replay protection.
- Upping the community funding to 12% of block rewards, adding the 3.5% secure node rewards to the current 8.5% pool. These funds will be held in escrow until the secure node network goes live.
- Swapping out old community fund addresses for new ones.
- New DNS seeders for improved network discovery.
- Changing the requirement for community fund UTXO to first be sent to z_addresses. These funds will still all be sent through z_addresses before being spent to preserve fungibility, but requiring it in the first step limits multisig security.
Make sure to update your nodes by Friday! Here's How to Upgrade Your ZenCash Software. In reference to the Hard Fork upgrade @finpunk mentioned above, please upgrade the your ZenCash wallet to the new version Zen 2.0.9-4 available at https://github.com/ZencashOfficial/zen before Friday this week at 11 am Pacific time. New binaries are being compiled and packaged with new versions of the ZenCash Swing Wallet and Eleos wallet and will be available soon. Is the compiled wallet available yet?

Sorry, but doesn't look very promising
Says the newbie who knows nothing about cryptos or Zencash. Zencash is an improved, decentralized zcash.

To be on the safe side, don't keep it on Bittrex. Doesn't matter if you don't trade for few days, right? On desktop, no matter what wallet you use, just export the private keys so that you can import them in any wallet in future.

What is better for mining, ZCL or ZEN?
ZCL is better. I have just looked up the mining comparison and I see that zCL is still better than ZEN. However, I suggest to hold your coin once you are able to mine them because I believe that in the future they will be pumped and the price will be higher than people expect

I don't have Zcash. Bittrex is US-based. Is there anything in Europe, or a service converting BTC to ZEN? What's wrong with a US-based exchange? They don't need you to be verified unless you're dealing with fiat or a BIG amount of crypto. Just open a free account and exchange BTC for ZEN. If not, I can help you with that. I have account on Bittrex. I will do it for free; however if you need to hire an escrow, you need to pay the escrow fees. I signed up on Bittrex, but their shapeshifting service is under maintenance. Changelly or shapeshit.io don't offer ZEN, either. Any other sources?

I want to buy a laptop, based on ubuntu, mainly to be a ZEN VPS (but also used for travel, like watch movies and stuff like that)
What will be enough for it ? I don't want overpay for nothing... i3, i5 ? 2mb, 4mb ? etc etc. Like, a lenovo thinkpad T400 can be way enough i guess ?
Thanks.

I am mining and buying only ZEN at the moment.
Why?
1. Because I was long time holder of darkcoin/DASH from the early beginning and I am recognizing now the very similar situation with ZEN. (you can see my history on btctalk as well from 2014.)
2. Plans for masternodes (MNs) are much more improved in terms to DASH and only 42 coins would be necessary to run them, so I am advising you to buy/mine at least that amount.
3. Since MNs are going to need more resources then DASH MN and only 3.5% will be profit stream distributed to MNs, I am assuming that price must be much higher of a coin in order to sustain the costs.
Example : Every month around 200 000 new coins are being mined 3.5% from 200 000 coins are going to be distributed to MNs total around 7000 coins If they plan to have between 1000 to 5000 MNs as a enough security layer then income for future MNs would looks like:
1000 MNs ..... 7 ZEN per MNs per month 3000 MNs ..... 2.33 ZEN per MNs per month 5000 MNs ..... 1.4 ZEN per MNs per month
If we follow DASH path, I am thinking at least 5000 MNs will be put in place to run! You can calculate yourself what price of ZEN has to be in order to run MN!
My projection is at least 20 USD ... most likely in the first year 50 USD.
Don't miss this great opportunity!
I totally agree man, it's just an interesting idea though that we have to base the master nodes success on a price level to make it worth while. Price targets for profitability are great, but it doesn't sound like a business plan, more like a hurdle. I fully believe in zen and it's ability to make it over the hurdle, and so I'm holding and accumulating like you. It's just that we should be aware that this master node profitability/price range finally gives us a means of valuing a coin as over or under valued.

Travel will lower its availability. I think most people would say that this node isnt as good as others, that are 100% available and payouts would be less. Just my 2 cents. Get a dedicated server maybe. My i7 3770, 3TB, 16GB is 30€/month

As i can see depositing of Zen's works, trading is alive..Im not sure where is the problem? shapeshift.io doesn't support ZEN for now. This will probably be changed over time. Try also this exchanges. TradeSatoshi - https://www.tradesatoshi.com/Exchange?market=ZEN_BTC/CryptoDAO - https://cryptodao.com/

Am a little bit skeptical here, Please what is the difference between zchash and zencash? I have some few zcash on bittrex and I need to know if it necessary for me to convert/sell it fo zencash
No, they're two different coins. ZEC (ZCash) --> Forked to ZCL (ZClassic) --> Forked to ZEN (ZENcash) Sorry to say, am finding it a bit complicated to fully understand what zencash is actually all about! although I love the project, but i will need to do my own research about zencash for better understand. Does zencash has wiki? If yes, can I have a link to it? Thanks and best regards.

How can I become a masternode operator? I understand it isn't implemented yet, but will I just need a certain amount of zen to qualify or will I have to sign up?

Does zencash has wiki? If yes, can I have a link to it? Thanks and best regards. Good point!. Here's the TL;DR Start out as a copy of Zcash, with funding model like Dash (8.5% of block reward to a treasury) Treasury funds used for development, marketing, partnerships (like hardware wallets) Usability with many different wallets Build on the secure memo feature of Zcash to add more secure messaging options Integrate secure messaging with IPFS for anonymous publishing and group notification (on roadmap) Internationalization for worldwide use Community governance (not yet rolled out) Secure Nodes (42 Zen each, share 3.5% of block reward) - add reliability and encryption to nodes Secure nodes are not yet implemented. They are not designed to tie up Zen like a masternode, and probably will not be a big moneymaker for the secure node operators. So, 88% of rewards go to miners, 3.5% to secure node operators, 8.5% to treasury for making Zen better.
