So what's the next step after Segwit is activated? we have to wait until another coin activate to start swaps? or how VTC pretend to take advantage of be the first coin in implement this feature? any plans?  |

We have plans to test/ implement the lightning network shorty after SegWit it activated. We don't have control over the original or the second. When BCT was hacked we lost control of the accounts and are unable to recover them( we tried ). So, yes this is the new thread . |

Also old wallets could fork to follow a different (non-upgraded) chain temporarily which would be bad for consensus. |
