i can't understand how someone can consider in the long run the gpu mining power asic resistant...someone will develop at some point something like an asic for gpus

Gpu mining is decentralized but asic is centralized mining

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

If I'm not mistaken in about 2 month the block reward will be halved? Or has this been changed? If it will be halved, I do not think it will be profitable to mine on GPU? People will move to other coins.

While vertcoin talks about upcoming stealth addresses -
Groestlcoin already has them - https://cryptovoid.net/grs-samourai-wallet/

Sell all your VTC for GRS -
GRS runs on their own 'Groestl Blockchain' with far better tech than VTC.

Forgive my question if it is daft but if vertcoin was what bitcoin is today, could it handle the same amount of transactions with ease without having to fork every so often?
I hope crypto currencies will take over the world monetary system to a bigger extent in the future but surely bitcoin is technically outdated for this challenge?
Perhaps I am just misunderstanding things. I know btc was the first and is the coin everyone knows but is it not to be expected that in a few years time it will be obsolete, as a currency at least?
Vertcoin ftw btw Smiley

I've sold all my VTC for GRS a few days ago.

i can't understand how someone can consider in the long run the gpu mining power asic resistant...someone will develop at some point something like an asic for gpus

Maybe you havent been around long enough to see vertcoin had forked not just once but twice in the face of ASIC.
The guy behind btc gold fork used to be a reseller of a2 scrypt ASIC and once he marketted his machines as scrypt-N ASIC  only to be screwed by vtc devs who forked scrypt-N VTC to Lyra2E.  Devs didnt stop there they forked again to Lyra2ERev2 to make it a tad harder to make ASIC for it.

Other coin like groestl may claim they are the true asic resistance coin but they havent had to face ASIC coming their way. If I'm not mistaken Groestl is to X11 like Scrypt-N to Scrypt. So it's only a matter of tweaking for bitmain to tweak its asic chip to be able to handle Groestl.

Vertcoin is the only coin that has proven its asic resistance, it already has a track record of asic resistance, it had screwed an asic reseller marketting plan before so an asic company developing lyra2rev2 asic would've to develop in secret and fast. They'd be so screwed if by the time they taped out vertcoin had already forked Cheesy

This is a good bit of history that most people don't know.  Vertcoin's commitment to being ASIC free is second to none, and that is important to many people.

Move from Coinotron. They have over 51% of the net hashrate.

For the past couple days Coinotron has had over 51% of the Vertcoin network hashrate. We have found out that this is due to nicehash renters using Coinotron as their go to pool to mine to. So, if you are mining from nicehash or just mining on Coinotron please consider using a different pool until they are under 51% of the network hashrate. We would suggest setting up your own p2pool(super easy), but we have listed alternatives below.
Alternative pools:

p2pools network 1 pools (100mh/s and up):

http://scanner1.alwayshashing.com/

p2pool network 2 pools( under 100mh/s):

http://scanner2.alwayshashing.com/

Traditional pools:

https://vertcoin.miningpoolhub.com/

https://www.zpool.ca/

Setup your own p2pool (no fees, best payout, easy to do):

In my opinion we are able to purchase something with bitcoin, becoming legal or ilegal, but those transaction is created into the darkish market segments, you can buy drugs within the roads with bitcoin, at least it might be the first time i hear about such factor. Our medication does make medicines to our physique, soo everybody does use medicines, even being altered to create some impact in our body.

Nope the darkish market currency of choice is not btc and not drk (darkcoin Roll Eyes ) now called dash.. the favorite currency for the dark market is monero (XMR)
btc has actually come into the light as there are more wall street folks buying into it.
not sure if you are a bot or real person.

vtc has been 'stalling' their stealth address implementation for reasons not mentioned.

Why don't you "Meet" $5 . What's with all the haters on VTC?  It's right on the heels of LTC. You won't see $1.50 ever again.  Great coin, been involved since '14

More than sure he wants to buy them for 1.5$ because I was scared and sold all their coins for 2$. The weak hand of the man

HI!

I've been trying to find Vertcoin whitepaper or some other official summary, but I have only found dodgy links, none of which are on the official website.

Does anyone have a link or advice where to have a look?

Found a similar topic on reddit also.
