Happy New Year to everyone in the Solaris community! I first started following and mining Solaris way back in early June, and while I had high hopes for the coin, I never expected that we would be as far as we are today on Jan. 1 2018. Smiley Hats off to the developers for a job well done and to the community for being active and supportive.  Here's to a great 2018!

Hi,

I tried it for a few hours. Initially payouts very good and higher than Lycheebit but they slowed down with time to the point I wasted an hour waiting for anything so I moved back to lycheebit.
Should be fixed as there should be no difference in profitability between the pools.

It's super unlikely that mining at 2 pools will have the same profitability over just 2 hours when one of them (Lycheebit) has over 10 times the amount of hashrate of the other so is 10 times more likely to find a block, Over a long run then they should get to pretty much even but 2hrs is way to low to take into consideration the pools luck in finding a block.

Examples (these numbers are made up but this sort of thing could easily happen)
-----------

In 2 hrs you have say

Mining pool 1 finding 20 blocks and you get 0.0025 a block so you get 0.05
Mining pool 2 finding 0 blocks so no payout

then the next 2 hrs

Mining pool 1 finds 17 blocks at 0.0025 so you get 0.0425
Mining pool 2 finds 4 blocks at 0.025 so you get 0.1 block

So in total

Mining pool 1 you got 0.0925
Mining pool 2 you got 0.1

So if you just mined for the first 2 hours then MP1 looks great and MP2 rubbish, If you do all 4 hours then MP2 looks slightly better, If you started mining at hour 3 then MP2 looks miles better.

Mining for just a few hours you are very unlikely to get a true figure of payout, especially when one of the Mining pools has 10x the hashrate of the other as they will get payouts a lot more often, The longer you mine the closer to the average you will get. As it's luck who finds the block BUT obviously you are more likely to find it with more hash rate (but in turn get paid out less).

interesting coin.
for those wondering whether you should consider cpu mining or not.... don't.
just tried on a i7 and got 20 kh/s vs 1600 kh/s on a gtx 970

not sure if the gtx 970 is worth it but obviously cpu mining is a big waste.
will find out about the single card mining soon..

What miner were you using? I used to get 100 Kh/s on a stock i7 6700K when mining Xevan on 8 threads.

Overall though, Xevan may have started as a CPU algorithm but it's pretty much just for GPUs right now.

the one from the official mining guide.
i see there may be room for improvements. still no match for gpu mining indeed.
getting between 0,043 and 0,051% shares with 1 gpu on lycheebit btw
0.00773874 xlr in a hour.

Is that figure for gtx 970?
I doubt it is worth to mine with the gpu.
This coin is for rig(s) with multiple gpus.
Better to mine other cheaper coins with your cpu and gtx 970 and hope the price goes up.

Solaris has masternodes
I downloaded the new wallet for Raspberry Pi but when I run it I'm asked what to do with "executable" files ... I'm so confused.  I have the old wallet compiled and running no problem but the download for the new one won't run.  Do I need to check permissions?

Dear DEV
Is the Solaris Signature program still working?
Last week was suspended? I do not get a bonus!
If it is paused, when will it open again for the members?
Thanks

Thank you to all the participants in the Signature campaign. In January we will anounce a new signature campaign and allow new registrations.
Thank you !

Campaign was closed 21 December.

When pos will be started?
thx

Solaris PoS phase  will start  from block 259201 (~ 05.04.2018 ).

Thank you for support Solaris !

Yeah, got it, dev. That means there are only 3 more months before Solaris will experience dramatic pumps as a result of PoS phase will be started at that timepoint.

Man!  I was mining 24 coins a day on my gtx 1060 3gb cards a couple months ago and look at this thing climb!  Too bad I only mined for a couple days.  I still have a handful of XLR and this is still exciting.
