Sia got hit harder than most alts... even though the entire crypto market took a nosedive. Some coins are straight up shitcoins but Sia has good long term potential and a solid team behind it. So I was really surprised that it would get hit so brutally.

There was a bit of panic around the Obelisk uncertainty and funding but it seems to have been sorted out.

They have 1200 Obelisk pre-orders and they will move forward with the production (people who ordered will get an estimated 250GH/s now)

The received a $400K grant from Li Xiaolai, a well-known billionaire in the crypto space who believes in Sia's future

NBlockchain provided the grant so that the Sia team can focus on development and not on fundraising. "Don't worry about money, just have things well done,” said Li Xiaolai, founder of INBlockchain.

So, the price drop did hurt me a lot... but I'm also more confident that it will recover. What worries me the most is if BTC rallys to $5000-$10,000, shouldn't the ratio of SC/BTC drop even more? Otherwise, I really do think SC has been oversold, especially since some of the uncertainty has been relieved and the team can fully focus on development for the next year. But I do have a bad feeling that the downtrend isn't over yet... and SC could potentially drop as low as 150 sats.

Sad

I was reading an analizes that considered the "real" price of SIA, and by that they meant the price of SIA related to the rented/sold storage space around 89 sats. That being said everything above that would be from hype/speculation. What are your opinions on this?

I really have no idea where the "real" price of SC should be... how did the calculate 89 sats as real price?

Well, you never know 100% surely but looking at the development and perspectives on this coin, I don't think you did wrong. I believe the price has a longer ride upwards than downwards.

it is a surprised that SC is actually lucrative Smiley
I was not confidence that SC would grow and having bigger price this soon.

It seems HODL is the best option.

I can´t find the article again. From what i remember it related the number of coins available to the storage space rented or sold. And arrived to a value in USD. then the value of 89 sats was related to the price of BTC at the time.
What i´m trying to see here is with constant mining of new coins (incrinsing suply) can we expect a real epic monster moon from current prices? Is this good store of value? or more of a good day trade/small profit coin?

I don't think Sia is the coin for you, it is probably best you move on. Investing in Sia now is like investing at the Venture Captial stage, and this risk is not for everybody.

Not moving on right now:) too many Siacoins in my wallet to "simply" move on. Anyway i was trying to see if anyone had the answers. But it seems that the project it´s new and we will have to wait and see what the future brings.

My question is why SIA dump all the way ? is there any issue with codes ? what happened i really want to know should sold out all SIA?
i can not understand what to do ?

Thanks
regards
sayyedraza

Did you look at the other coins? I don't think there is a problem related to Siacoin. Where did you understand codes have issue? The market made a dump for all coins. So it's not special to siacoin.

how much does it cost to store an HD movie on Sia?  how does the speed/price compare to centralized services?

if it's a lot more.. you do realize the only thing Sia is gonna be used for right?

DBG = Digital Bullion Gold are you sure you don't mean: DGB = Digibyte ?

Regardless, DBG tracks gold, and DGB is a gaming credit type coin. Both are in completely different spaces than Sia. Sia is a cloud storage coin focusing on secure private decentralized cloud storage. The cloud storage is a huge market, and if Sia can capture a chunk of it the price of Sia should skyrocket. Also the Sia Development team is second to none and very responsive.

Full-on rip of a BluRay is about 16GB? Would cost about 4 cents or something.

if that would make 160 GB 40 cents then that is actually not bad. do you have to pay monthly? i suppose you would have to but a one time payment would be quite interesting Shocked

Can anyone explain two things:

1. Why did Siacoin crash harder than the other alts, even though there is a strong backing from people in the business?
2. How is it an alt will always depend on BTC to stay up or down? Why can't alts, especially like Siacoin hold their own ups and downs?

1) I think Sia was hyped more than other coins and got a little ahead of itself too fast. Too much hype means to high of a price, where a slower natural growth would be preferred. Since Sia may end up being a blockchain storage protocol layer much attention is warranted, but too much can be a bad thing.

2) Since BTC is the primary coin traders use to obtain Sia and most other alts the BTC price often has an impact. Some of it is not just BTC, but the whole crypto market rose very fast in the spring and some consolidation should not surprise anyone. It my belief we are in the early life cycle of crypto currencies, and all this will look like a tiny bump in the road when the whole crypto market is valued at 3 - 5 trillion dollars 3 to five years from now. I think when the fear over BTC scaling is over (sometime in the fall) the crypto market will have another pump up.

- Who knows, but all this means in 3 - 5 years Sia may be valued over $.50, and maybe even $1.

3-5 years to reach 0.50 cents...that's great. So 0.25 cents should be 1.5-2.5 years. 20 cents even sooner.
