I'm bumping this thread now that BCH is at an all-time low against BTC (current price: 0.0207) -- Loaded could have rekt Roger Ver by this point while doubling the size of his investment (granted they kept their BTC and not sold). I wonder why he disappeared from the forum, never to return.

Looking at the wallets associated with Loaded's funds is... quite interesting. However, I encourage any blockchain detectives to do some pretty thorough research before jumping to any hasty conclusions!  Cheesy

Ver should have made a deal with Craig Wright: your BCH for my BSV... I mean he would have lost money either way, just not as much money...

Per coinmarketcap (ugh used to be an okay site before eth heads got them to abandon their integrity and list premined coins), it made it under 0.02 briefly back on September 25th!

I was pretty surprised by it, since it really looks like someone has been spending a lot of money to keep BCH above 0.02/BTC and I've been waiting for that peg to fail.

Quote from: PinkFloyd
On the day the wall came down
The Ship of Fools had finally run aground
Promises lit up the night like paper doves in flight

But I guess this is just how most of these schemes die... not with a bang, but with a wimper.

Not that polite to go digging through other people's transactions! Smiley

God knows, I half think that ver has been cynically dumping BCH (and later BSV) on his suckers the whole time.  We know that BU kept 90% of their funds as Bitcoin instead of going all in on bcash.

If he really followed through with what he promoted to others he'd be looking at devastating >>90% losses (esp if he also went hard in on eth at the time he was pumping it it would be more like 98% losses), and probably we wouldn't be hearing from him anymore.

ver must really have had a lot of btc. and he must have been influential in the early days to an extent that he developed this view as if he himself can have a say in to which direction bitcoin evolves. he thought he owned the network. indeed, it would have been nice to see him sacrifice his wealth for this hubris. I am sure he bled a lot. he did not stay humble and bitcoin tends to be a harsh mistress towards those who aren't.

A pretty decent amount, anyone with the leaked mtgox data can see how much... in USD amounts at the time it wasn't particularly stupendous.

Nah. A lot of people barely had any idea of who he was for a long time-- beyond the hothead blockchain.info guy that was doxing users.  But I have no doubt that he was very important in the little bubble where he was funding a collection of sycophants, and that's probably sufficient to build up the kind of hubris that you mention.

Bumping this thread now that loaded is set to be sentenced tomorrow (see: https://www.wsj.com/articles/bitcoin-blockchain-hacking-arrests-93a4cb29)

Roger was lucky Zhong didn't follow up (he probably got scared because of this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/6bcccp/loadeds_coins_trace_back_to/) - otherwise he would have ended up double rekt.

Damn, that's intense. And it explains a lot. Good find.

I thought we determined that this was the silk road escrow wallet

More proof: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=94675.msg1197352#msg1197352

I remember all that going down at the time, it was fascinating to watch. Funny to find out loaded was larping as a "highly successful trader" the whole time. Instead what he really did was manipulate the Silk Road withdrawal system out of 50k BTC in 2012. Wonder where he slipped up with his OpSec. He lasted 10 years.

Wonder where he slipped up with his OpSec. He lasted 10 years.

Worst mistake was a newbie one - he commingled Silk Road and clean coins in the same wallet. At some point he sent some legit coins to an exchange (where he was likely KYC'd), and change was sent back to his wallet. After a while he moved the Silk Road coins and the change coming from his clean coins was sent together with the dirty ones.

Law enforcement contacted the exchange and got all the details including his IP address.

It would have been a highly complex exchange because who would escrow or ensure the coins were traded? I think it was something that would not have taken place even if both parties wanted because it would probably be impossible to arrange. It would have been the largest ever crypto escrow based on trust between the senders and escrow. For example, who would send first? Who would be trusted to work as escrow?

What would have happened to Ver if he had managed to swap his BCH for BTC the OP was asking to trade? At worst would it simply be a case of handing over the BTC to lawful enforcement agencies and then receive his BCH back or would it be something else? After all, if the exchange went ahead as far as Ver would have been concerned he was making a 1:1 BCH/BTC trade.

Daym, dude knows how to live this life. Since it is public information who loaded is, I guess there isn't any problems posting a photo of his. He lived every bitcoiner's dream life. Chicks, probably lots of powder and partied like there is no tomorrow.

- background music I am listening while browsing his photos at google: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Olgn9sXNdl0 -

Good job.

Who would be trusted to work as escrow?

I was just reading the first few pages of the thread and a few different names were thrown around as potential escrows. Dooglus was one. Trying to execute it as an Atomic Swap was another.

I think you have it backwards: the deal was loaded's BCH for Ver's BTC. Interestingly, loaded sold all his BCH fork proceeds for BTC. As @Rampion hinted, loaded probably got spooked when he saw that Reddit was investigating the source of his funds.

Loaded still never replied to me at all despite my contacting him numerous times.  That shows his intentions were dishonest from day one.

Well now we know this probably wasn't the case.

Yes, sorry, I made an error when writing. The proposed deal was for the BCH the OP held to trade with the BTC that Ver held. Thank you for correcting me.

Loaded still never replied to me at all despite my contacting him numerous times.  That shows his intentions were dishonest from day one.
Well now we know this probably wasn't the case.
I remember posting in the thread a short while after the deal was proposed by the OP. Time really gone by fast.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/60ozkh/rogerver_lets_make_a_deal_1_for_1_trade_at_least/

bitcoin-cli signmessage 19Mz2o9RDABT74SA9njZqMtJXKEzj2qUoH '@RogerVer lets make a deal, 1 for 1 trade. At least 60k, possibly up to 130k, my BTU for your BTC.'

So Ver OBVIOUSLY declined !!

Talk about Ver believing in Bitcoin Cash so much so that he cannot even get himself to sell ALL his Bitcoins now, or to have exchanged them when the fork was made.

Why make the fork and bad mouth Bitcoin so much when he cannot part with it?

 Grin

Wow so it seems Loaded made the thread and then got Ver interested but then when Ver came back to conclude the deal it was Loaded who pulled out and refused to answer Ver?

We don't know who backed out. Roger said that Loaded backed out, but Roger says a lot of things. He says that Bitcoin Cash is the real Bitcoin for instance which is clearly not true.

Sentence is in: 1 year jail time. https://cointelegraph.com/news/individual-behind-3-4b-silk-road-bitcoin-theft-sentenced-to-one-year-in-prison

He probably still has plenty of legit BTC left.

IMO this is one of the best possible outcomes for him, he paid the price and he will be now be able to enjoy his riches without being paranoid.

According to the article his sentence was: one year and one day in prison for charges related to executing a scheme to steal more than 51,680 Bitcoin

Now considering he had over 51,000 BTC in his possession from the theft, that 1 year sentence seems very light especially when it comes to mind he managed to avoid being caught for 10 years.
