I think it would be smarter to actually wait for the summer, try to get Mbappe and if he doesn't come then you can tell the fans that you tried and he just didn't come and put the blame on Mbappe instead of the team management. This is why they are going to play a season without a striker, Joselu is there to be fair but I doubt he would be used all that much, and they will wait until summer to not make the fans angry.

That's a mistake that Chelsea has always made in recent seasons, Chelsea always make decisions that don't make sense or are not useful and just waste huge amounts of money to take players who are not good enough so that in the end they will regret it.
It's the same with when Chelsea loaned out too many young players they had and when those players came back they were close to expiring contract deals.
