That would be a really bad move to his career moving back to Italy after he betrayed Intermilan and i think he's going to get a lot of backlash from which might affect his performance this season, lukaku is a good proven player and could help Mourinho's team bounce back and he'll be very happy to move to Roma even if it's for another loan spell to save the shame of being sidelined on the bench by chelsea at least he'll get a lot of playing time under Mourinho and hopefully if he performs well over there they might probably sign him completely next summer.

You're right Chelsea is not a stupid team but rather careless in my opinion. Because the policy of buying players and selling players also doesn't guarantee that Chelsea can look extraordinary. To be fair we are not seeing a star player anymore and Lukaku may request a star amount of money as well, so the fans are reasonable to say that if he was a 2-3 million euro a year type of player then he worths every penny, but why would they want to pay 6-7 million at least, maybe more, to a player whose best days are behind him?
