That would be very hard to decide since the bond between parents are strong and emotionally killing a child is like killing yourself. If I am being commanded by God and I have well verified clearly that it is God and not any one else I will make a bargain to take my life instead. As a parent my love for my child is strong and I cannot afford to let his life go out but I am not certain to what decision will I make in front of God.

I can not understand how there may be doubt on the subject. First is your children, and secondly, believers are always shouting that religion teaches not to kill people. It surprises me that someone votes for question № 1. After that you can say against Muslims?

When Muslims kill their children (mostly daughters) and wives, it's called "honor killing" and it's acceptable to them. Just thinking about it makes my blood curdle.

In fact, we know that God gave commandment to Abraham, to kill his son.
As we know, it was test of faith and when God sew that Abraham is absolutely obedient to him, He send angel to stop Abraham, before he kill his son.
We can't read it and understand literally.
Sometimes God test our faith, but he will never took innocent life.
In modern time we are already liberated thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ, who willingly sacrifice his own life for our sins.
Because of it, we don't need to sacrifice our lives any more, but to accept Jesus in our lives.
So, God will not give any more such command but will ask us to return to him and change our lives (kill our ''old'' self and separate from sin).

Why do we need religion? Why you need a God who causes a person to kill their children? Why bother to kill someone? I think that killing can only be justified in self-defense. Everything else is a crime.

No. The story of abraham may just be a story to test people's obedience. Realistically, there's no reason at all for me to even think of killing my children. If i have to go to hell for being disobedient, i'd gladly take that punishment than to listen to a god that would have such morbid instructions.

I take it that you mean a voice in my head telling me to kill them? No, I would know that voice in my head is just my mental illness.

Like the guy on the bus a few years back who decapitated someone. Apparently god told him that he has to kill this person immediately or he himself would be killed.. lol.. Like if I heard that I would act on it. 

If god appeared to me in my presence and told me to do it I would just assume that its a hologram or I'm loosing it. I certainly wouldn't kill my kids or anyone else for that matter.

Aum Shinrikyo is just a plain old terrorist group. JW tend to be well-behaved, at least here in my country. I guess what really makes the cut when it comes into intimidation is Scientology. They'll definitely give Jim Jones a run for his money.

This is the problem with most religious groups, they tend to spawn sects and unfortunately not all of those can be called moderate. Even with people drinking the holy kool-aid every now and then, it seems we haven't learned enough. Government could be helpful with this, but then again they tend to stay away from religious issues unless it has already become a huge problem or it has already caused a media scandal.

Definitely no, I would not kill anyone or my own children (if I have have one but I am not married hehe). But  sometimes it happen to save others we have to kill our own someone. Expect terrorist , they will kill not only kill his children also himself.
