According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

just timed that it took exactly three minutes for me to be notified to send payment after clicking on the potato once the last round ended. it's really bad guys it leaves very little time to get the payment to you to verifying status before it times out...

I've been reading your posts, but every time I test I haven't been able to replicate that. I have timed it too, it's never taken longer than 10 seconds for me. Also note that I'm not nearby the server or anything, it's hosted on AWS. So our connections should have no big advantages over each other. The next revision of the site won't suffer from all the lag, we're working on it. Sorry you're having trouble.

Get a clue before posting drivel. As far as i'm concerned Bitpotato has established itself as part of cryptocoin history. It was the first site of its kind and is still the best gambling site for cryptos that you can consistently profit on. The support is good, they endevour to fix issues where possible and are working on a new version of the site to make the experience better for the majority of users.

In other news it seems the potatoes aren't going for as much again, sometimes the 3 hour potato only gets to 4ltc. Strange how it goes in periods of a week reaching the 40's for most potatoes and now it seems to settle around 8-12.

i won a couple of btc's gambling in the beginning wich made me really excited. so these kinds of sites are part of a growing community of the cryptos. and give people the chance to play and experiment with their coins. i don't gamble any more with my coins. but i did learn how easy it is to pay and receive coins.

Dear Bitpotato owner and friends,

Does anyone know the odds involved in this kind of "Hot Potato" game?

I mean: at least an estimation about the gambler's odds and the house's odds.

It seems that game is not 50/50, right?

Is it, at least, +EV (positive expected value) for the gambler?

Is there any documentation about that topic around?

Maybe that could be included in the FAQ section.

That is correct, it's +EV for the gambler. You make more than you paid when your potato is sold.

How much do the people who run these programs make?

Not very much, our lowest take is %5. The consolation prize is a direct percentage of our profits, so you can do the math from there to see how much money we made on any particular round.

Shouldn't his be under gambling section?

This thread was made before any of these forum accounts could post outside this section, right now we're holding back on making a new thread because...

We're still working on version 2 right now. The ETA is about 1-2 weeks, we ended up scrapping the original backend in favor of a much more robust one, that could be more easily extended to add more games. We're not going to make a new thread in any forums until version 2 is complete. We're currently running a testnet closed beta version of the site while we develop it.
