While I like new features, I'd prefer more exchanges (big ones)..

I wouldn't worry about it, I've installed other wallets that said were "version Y" but still showed the old "version X" name, sometimes this just slips through the net.
You could put in a bug report in the 'issue' section of the Github, that would be the quickest way to get it fixed, https://github.com/sumoprojects/SumoGUIWallet/issues

Yeah, no need to worry too much about it. Report them to devs and they will fix soon.

No need to report it, its a known issue Smiley (actually its not an issue but an omission to change the version on the info tab). It is already fixed for the next release coming within this month

Simply saying, "we are not much different from Monero but we have plans and features in the pipeline that will definitely make a difference", would probably have helped eliminate the very FUD, folks
are so worried about. And there is ample evidence that many people are worried about the 10% premine.

Transparency helps to convince people. But again... just my 50 cents on the topic.

"we are not much different from Monero but we have" this has been done in this very ANN lots of times. Anyway, at least a few xmr fans try to twist facts and spread fud. Especially visdude has his issues, if you read all his replies in this ann you will see

I don't get why people are upset about the premine. Devs handeled it very transparently. The premine is mentioned on the first page and Sumoshi made a blog post about it on our medium blog. If one does not agree with the premine there is a simple solution: to move on. I don't get why this is made an issue again and again.

@GerMining  First of all, you are one of the more helpful community members. If I remember correctly you asked me to address my questions in the telegram group. Except for insults from a certain member of Sumokoin, I didn't get any answers.

However, I guess many folks are worried that they mine/buy Sumokoin and devs will dump loads of coins when the time comes or when the price is reasonably high. A simple reassurance that no mass dumping on part of the dev team will occur could help. Information on how and when the premine will be spent will at least be seen as an attempt to reassure people that this crypto currency is founded on solid principles. Almost anybody making money trading crypto will advise you to look at factors like,

1. Who is the team?
2. Does the dev team have any development background (in other words: are they qualified to implement a given roadmap)?
3. What makes this coin so different from others?

As I mentioned in an earlier post, some in-depth information answering these questions will generally be useful for potential investors (and/or miners).
Anonymity and showing potential yet inquisitive people the finger certainly won't help. Even currencies like GRAFT or ETN handle this aspect of PR much better.

I am the one who "insulted" you and unfortunately I am going to say the same things that you find "insulting" again.

1. The team prefers to stay anonymous (besides two of them that do not hide their real names). The team has grown in numbers (they are more than 4 atm and i dont know if the new members will decide to disclose their real names as well in the future)

2. If they are qualified to implement a given roadmap can be easily checked by the current roadmap and if all milestones were delivered on time. Also if you check the two members, that do not hide their name,s you ll see that their background is quite overqualifying to implement any roadmap, compared to the "developers" of ICO's like ETN that you seem to prefer.

3. Sumokoin strives to be among the top anoncoins around and is on its way into accomplishing that, i am sorry if you cannot discern that from its roadmap or its development so far.

Now for the most insulting part, whether you like it or not we dont look for "investors" so you'd better stick with the mentioned ICOs which, like you said, have better PR and tv evangelists (although I ve been accused as being a cheerleader many times, I dont blame the people who accuse me as such cause I indeed sometimes overreact due to my strong belief in the coin).

Thank you investor, go trade an ICO with large github commit frequency

Lol  Grin
Now you are getting into kindergarten talk. Not sure why all of that offends you so much. Maybe, there is some truth to it?

Keep in mind that big players in crypto also have folks with a Ph.D. in maths and hardcore developers. And although a Ph.D. is certainly not required
to deliver a project, I question the thoroughness of developers who don't even manage to adjust the copyright headers and - as a result - have their
project taken down (github - very professional!). I have yet to see any feature of sumokoin that is truly unique and impressive. It's all just monero.
Maybe, a "real" answer would be better than - and yes, you are doing it again - showing the finger.

Btw... Sumogr... You are the one to insult folks for simply asking a few questions about the premine.
Very well done...

A few facts about SUMOKOIN and the roadmap:

* Initial Version of Sumokoin based on Monero,
* 10% pre-mine (8.888.888 SUMOs worth a total of 17.824.443 USD - at the time of writing)

The community is what drives SUMO and the miners support it with their hashing power.
So yes, we DO HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW.

Let's look at your "really impressive" roadmap...

Roadmap items

ItemComment
Sumokoin v0.1.2.0difficulty adjustments, etc. (most "new" coins implement that - what's the achievement here?!),
GUI WalletWell done... but there is a monero wallet that I would guess yours is based on (features are almost identical)
EasyMinerat least something, that is not copyright monero. Written in Python (not C++)
Subaddresses(c) 2014 - 2017 The Monero Project (https://github.com/sumoprojects/sumokoin/blob/be01bb6511efaf1cae21ba5c854031862ba87810/src/wallet/api/subaddress.cpp)
Multi-signature + Lite Walletnot yet delivered (correct me, if I am wrong) - Multi-signature introduced to Monero with Pull Request https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/2134) in Dec 2017
Online wallet + Bulletproofnot yet delivered - but already available in Monero - Bulletproof: https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/2883
Mobile wallets (Android, iOS)not yet delivered

So as anybody can see...lots of words and not a lot of substance. Not a single feature that wouldn't be available in Monero?!
And please spare me with statements like, "It was so hard to adjust the coin name in cryptonote_config.h" or similar.
Maybe, you do have python scripting/development skills but you do seem to forget that monero - sorry - sumokoin is written in C++.
What is it you have done? Sponsor the infrastructure? Reply to folks on github?? Create the easy miner?
Considering all these achievements, you really should treat potential investors and miners a bit better.

You should also not talk trash about ETN because if I look at their network and yours, they are ten times bigger (SUMO: 34.32 MHs vs. ETN: 348.45 MHs)
and in comparison to you a lot "younger" and a lot more transparent.

Actions do speak louder than words.

I better go and play with real cryptocurrencies with a solid background (e.g. Monero) now Smiley

Cheers,

Tom

PS:  Grin If you don't look for investors, maybe you should have your coin delisted on cryptopia, etc. Investors, per definition, are also people buying the coin. Just repeating your words... LOL

You have no idea what you are talking about. I read up to the GUI wallet part where you say its a knock off from Monero's GUI while even the language they are coded with is different (Python vs C++).
Yeah go to a real cryptocurreny like Monero you have a history of calling everything a scam there. I guess you look yourself in the mirror each morning and shout scam to yourself.
Bye investor

You just can't stop showing the finger Smiley Good luck and please don't scam people... most of them do work hard for their money...unlike some people doing a bit of cut and paste and
calling it an anonymous coin. You don't even know what the core of sumokoin is...it's certainly not your hastily put together wallet... That only talks to a monero/sumokoin core component (i.e. wallet rpc,
does that ring a bell?). Do I really have to explain "your code" to you?

Sumogr... You should really not be in this business... seriously not... You are hurting the coin more than helping it...

On your first sentence you are calling the coin a scam and at your last you wish that i wasnt into this business cause i am hurting the coin....
Well enough with this nonsense say what you will

LOL...you don't seize to amaze me. I have had more than enough "entertainment" for today. You beat watching "John Oliver". So much talk so little substance.
I asked you to not scam people and that was not in my first sentence. I didn't say the coin is a scam... Maybe, try some different glasses. Don't twist facts...
Fact is, you had nothing to add...There is no real added value and - yes - it's a bad copy of monero as it's missing the newest features and fixes.

See? That's all I wanted to know and you finally managed to satisfy my curiosity. Thanks...

@GerMining: Thanks for trying to help initially anyway. It's people like you who can make this coin succeed.
How do I scam people? So the coin is not a scam? I was the one who told you that you should NOT invest in it, wasnt i? Make up you mind

LOL  Grin I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. LOL... we will see what happens after block 140000.

@GerMining... just facts dude...

Conclusion:

* In essence, sumokoin is a copy of monero, missing some of the newest features and hopefully on a good way to implement new ones.

* SumoGR assures folks that the premine will be spent for new development efforts and infrastructure.

* Monero's Bugfixes and new features are to be integrated into sumokoin.

* Sounds like a much better answer I am getting now then before.

As I already stated, thanks for finally satisfying my curiosity.

As I already stated, thanks for finally satisfying my curiosity.

Conclusion:

* In essence, sumokoin is a copy of monero, missing some of the newest features and hopefully on a good way to implement new ones.
It's already stated many times that Sumokoin is indeed a Monero fork (a copy of Monero or whatever you may want to call it). Indeed it is on its way of implementing new ones (within the next few months and I am not talking about the light wallet or the web wallet) that will hopefully diferentiate the coin more
* SumoGR assures folks that the premine will be spent for new development efforts and infrastructure.
According to the best of my knowledge and to what I have seen. I know for fact that more devs are hired and that there is a sound plan on how the premine will be used for the benefit of the coin.
* Monero's Bugfixes and new features are to be integrated into sumokoin.
Of course, why shouldnt we integrate them?
* Sounds like a much better answer I am getting now then before.
I am happy about that

ASICs for cryptonight were recently announced.  How is the Sumo team going to address this issue?

This ASIC (if a 60Watt ASIC really exists) has an output of 20 kH/s.

Now bear with me

Sumokoin has a global hashrate at the moment of 20 MH/s while its peak was 60 MH/s. Lets use an average of 40 MH/s
In order just to double the average total network hashrate of Sumokoin, which is 40,000kH/s, it would take 2,000 ASICs mining Sumokoin only.
Each ASIC costs 3600$, which means that people will have to spend 7.2 million dollars to buy ASICs and mine only Sumokoin with them
This is 2.3 times more money than the entire Sumokoin current marketcap

Now lets talk about Monero, Monero's average total hashrate is 1 GH/s https://www.coinwarz.com/network-hashrate-charts/monero-network-hashrate-chart
In order just to double the average total network hashrate of Monero which is 1,000,000kH/s it would take 50,000 ASICs mining Monero only.
Each ASIC costs 3600$ which means that people will have to spend 180 million dollars to buy ASICs and mine only Monero with them.

Baikal must produce and sell hundreds upon hundreds of thousand asics for them to have any actual effect on any coin

IMHO it would be irresponsible to risk the integrity of the coin for an insufficiently proven threat.

EDIT: If an ASIC with an output so large that can potentially affect our network's total hashrate is produced in the future then we will start considering a solution, but that's a hypothetical issue, not a real current one, so we wish to remain focused on improving our coin cryptographically atm.

Maybe a better question would have been 'is it an issue?'  Apparently not.  Thank you for your explanation.

There is not a 60w ASIC, this is a scam, does anyone else see this?

Who is selling, will just keep the money and then run away, this world of crypto-coins there are many scams.

Hi all,

I am a new miner, I started mining 1 month ago with Monero but it was really slow with my GPUs (2 KH/s).

So I looked around and I found this Sumokoin, in December it was 10$ so I thought it could grow.

Could you please explain me how can I convert Sumo to real money ? I know I should use an exchange website.

But which one ?

You can use Livecoin and Cryptopia.
As Germining says, use these exchanges to change Sumokoins into Bitcoins and after that, use Coinbase to change Bitcoins into Dollars.

In the picture they use a basic laptop power supply (usually delivery up to 120w)
The multiple connector is probably because they have 3 ASIC motherboard in the ASIC itself so each card will consume 20w (seems low but we are talking ASIC here and the calculation is actualy quite simple)
